POVEĆANI ISCRPAK IZ PLINSKIH LEŽIŠTA S VODONAPORNIM REŽIMOM
Ultimate recovery from water—drive gas reservoirs is governed primarily by the reservoir heterogeneity, residual gas saturation behind the water front, and by relatively high—pressure free gas abandoned updip of the highest perforation. Typical recovery from these reservoirs ranges between 35 and 75% of gas in place. Gas recovery can be enhanced using the »co — production« technique, in this process, as the downdip wells begin to water out, they are converted to high-rate water producers while the updip gas wells maintain gas production. If enough water is produced, the water influx can be halted or at least slowed down, allowing updip wells to deplete the free gas zone to lower pressure. Also, bypassed gas may regain mobility as pressure is lowered in the water-swept zone. Material balance calculations and numerical simulation arc used to support the technical feasibility of co—production. The technical as well as the economic feasibility is demonstrated using actual reservoirs.

Technical Support for Geopressured Geothermal Well Activities in Louisiana Annual Report
The rationale previously developed and utilized in interpreting various databases were outlined in the DOE final report titled "Technical Support for Geopressured-Geothermal Well Activities in Louisiana" (August 31, 1981), authored by Fred M. Wrighton, Don G. Bebout, Dale R. Carver, Charles G. Groat, and Adrain E. Johnson, Jr., under Contract No. DE-AS05-78ET27160. Due to the importance of the concepts presented in the previous report for developing an assessment evaluation program, much of the text and illustrations have been repeated for the convenience of the reader. However, the assessment techniques and calculations presented in this report are new.
Estimates of the in-place methane resource in the geopressured zone of the U.S. Gulf Coast have varied widely, ranging from less than 1000 trillion cubic feet (TCF) to 49,000 TCF. The most recent assessment for onshore Texas, conducted by Gregory, Dodge, Posey, and Morton in 1981, estimated a total of 690 TCF. Well logs from deep oil and gas wells served as the primary data source for all assessment studies, although the interpretation of these logs varied significantly. In this study focusing on Louisiana, the methods and results were found to compare favorably with those of Gregory and others for Texas. The assessment included the Wilcox, Frio, and Miocene formations.
Constructing regional cross-sections across the south Louisiana Gulf Coast was a prime objective to aid in assessing the total solution-methane resource in place. These cross-sections provided point sources of information from key wells and offered insights into the significance of each well through logical correlations with others on the section. Additionally, detailed studies of smaller areas conducted at LSU and other institutions throughout the Gulf Coast were considered, with data from these studies also contributing to the assessment.
The total area under consideration in south Louisiana exceeds 18,000 square miles, with geopressured formations including the Wilcox (1692 square miles), Frio (5200 square miles), and Miocene. Parameters considered in this assessment included pressure, sandstone volume, porosity, temperature, and salinity.Bureau of Economic Geolog
ENHANCED RECOVERY FROM WATER-DRIVE GAS RESERVOIRS

Prospecting for Bypassed Oil and Gas
In recent years, il has been increasingly difficult to economicallyexplore for hydrocarbons because of geopolitical uncertainties andlow oil prices. In many countries the remaining potential prospects are in areas which are difficult to access because of climate, terrain, offshore water depth, and/or environmental constraints. Also, most of the relatively simple geologic basins have been exploited leaving to explore areas of complex geology. In addition, the probability of finding large fields in mature basins is understandably low.It is known that substantial amounts of hydrocarbo ns has been bypassed on a macroscopic and microscopic scale in known fields. This is mainly due to reservoir heterogeneities and complex lithologywhich result in poor reservoir characterisation. Innovative reservoirmanagement options can reduce the amount of bypassed hydrocarbons.Emerging tecehnologies such as 3-D seismic and horizontal wells facilitate the location of oil and gas which has been bypassed at near virgin saturation. Sufficiently large amounts of such hydrocarbons could be economically produced in the near term by infill drilling. Innovative improved oil recovery methods can revive reservoirs which were considered depleted by conventional standards. These emerging technologies and methods have the potential of adding bypassed oil to the reserves category at a coet per barrel much lower than the cost of new discoveries.</div
Programmed death 1 (PD-1) serum level and gene expression in recent onset systemic lupus erythematosus patients
Aim of the work: To investigate the potential association of protein programmed death 1 (PD-1) serum level and its gene expression inrecent onset systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) patients and study its association with the disease activity. Patients and methods: The study included 80 recently diagnosed SLE patients and 80 healthy controls. SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) was assessed. The serum level of soluble (sPD-1) was assessed by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and its gene expression level was evaluated by real time-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR). Results: They were 68 females and 12 males (F: M 5.7:1) with age 30.8 ± 8.7 years and disease duration of 3.2 ± 1.7 months. The sPD-1 and PD-1 gene expression level (folds) were significantly elevated in patients (1280.6 ± 1448.1 pg/ml and 0.3 ± 0.06 folds) than controls (109.1 ± 11.9 pg/ml and 0.03 ± 0.008 folds) (p < 0.001). A significant correlation was found between sPD-1 and hematuria, pyuria, fever and C3 level (p = 0.01, p = 0.001, p = 0.02, and p = 0.03 respectively), and between PD-1gene expression and psychosis and fever (p = 0.03, p = 0.014). No significant correlation was found between SLEDAI and PD-1 gene expression or sPD-1 level (p = 0.1, p = 0.23 respectively). No significant correlation was found between sPD-1 and PD-1 gene expression levels and the autoantibodies. Conclusion: PD-1 gene expression as well as the serum level of sPD-1 are elevated significantly in recent onset SLE patients denoting that they may have a role in the pathogenesis of the disease while there was no relation to the disease activity. This biomarker may be potentially promising for the development of a novel lupus immunotherapy by targeting the PD-1 pathway
