    Study on the End Winding Inductance of Three-Phase Windings in Two Layers

    This work addresses the issue of the accuracy with which the stator end winding inductance of A.C. machines is determined in the design stage. Only two-layer windings having a shortened pitch are treated in this paper. The end winding inductance was calculated by determining the distribution of the magnetic field, performing numerical analyses based on finite elements method (FEM).The manner of how the inductances are determined using the analysis results is described in the paper. For validating the procedure, comparisons between FEM results and laboratory tests were performed in case of one of the studied machine. There is a very good correlation between the results. Then, a comparative FEM-Analytical study was carried out. Own program was used to design and build the models necessary in the study. Based on about 130 models, some important conclusions have been depicted

    The complexity of the designing process of a switch disconnector framework comes from the almost impossible task to appreciate the discrepancy between the ideal and practical electric strength. Complicated geometries characterized by nonuniform fields are predesigned based on a set of analytical relations and corrected/optimized based on numerical methods and high voltage testing on prototypes. This paper suggest some approaches to minimize the effort and the steps required to achieve an acceptable stainless steel housing, in the insulators area, for a medium voltage SF6 switch disconnector. The results are based on simple analytical evaluation and finite element analysis in both 2D and 3D configurations

    TRANSIENT REGIMES OF THE THREE-PHASE POWER TRANSFORMERS

    The transient regimes of a three-phase power transformer will be studied in this paper. The transient currents in the windings will be determined both analytically and by finite elements method (FEM). The no load and short circuit regimes will be considered. The current dependence of the instantaneous phase voltage and of the initial current value will be highlighted, by FEM. In order to determine analytically the transient currents, for inductances the analytical and FEM values will be used. The inductances are determined with FEM through the simulation of experimental tests. With FEM, the transient currents will be determined using transient analysis. Finally, the FEM and analytical results will be compared and discussed
