Passengers’ Evaluation of the Integrated Transport Systems

    Get PDF
This paper presents the outcomes of the research focused on the passengers’ subjective point of view on the Integrated Transport Systems (ITS) comparing with the separate non-integrated traffic lines. The research, within project realized in the Institute of Technology and Business in České Budějovice, was performed in several cities located in the central part of the EU where the establishing the ITS has been planned. The introductory parts of the paper contain the theoretical approaches of the given issue. Particularly, the issue of ITS such as, the review of performed ITS studies, information on the realized surveys and the draft of the used model are outlined in these parts. The used model includes two variants of the problem solving: ITS and individual bus. The surveyed criteria include: unproductive time, time of drive and travel fee.In the next two parts of the paper, the application of the model to real traffic conditions is presented and the outcomes of the research problem are emphasized

Indicators as a Tool for Assessing the Level of Sustainable Urban Freight Logistics

    Get PDF
Urban transport system planning has been moving towards sustainability in recent years, and the concept of urban freight logistics is an integral part of this planning. Urban freight logistics involves many stakeholders that participate in its operation and should be considered in the system planning process. The paper presents one of the approaches to the methodology for the selection of key indicators suitable for the evaluation and monitoring of a sustainable system of urban freight logistics in such a way that it reflects as much as possible the needs of all involved stakeholders. This is done by applying the selected method of multi-criteria analysis with the involvement of various urban freight logistics stakeholders. Based on the proposed methodology, the paper defines significant indicators that can be considered for further evaluation of the level of a sustainable urban freight logistics system. In addition to the possibilities of further development of this methodology, the application of determined significant indicators for calculating the proposed index of sustainable urban freight logistics is discussed. The proposed procedure can be implemented in the preparatory steps in the framework of the creation of sustainable urban logistics plans (SULPs)

Costs Comparison and the Possibilities of Increasing the Transport Capacity with a Selection of the Appropriate Railway Wagons

    Get PDF
The paper is focused on the possibilities of increasing the transport capacity of the selected train (train number 51712) with more appropriate selection of wagons and cost analysis using the wagons, irrespective of their advantage, and after application of the new proposal. The transport capacity of the selected train was characterized through the transport indicators - the technical coefficient of tare and the ratio of the maximum loading weight to tare of railway wagon

Comparing the Calculations of Energy Consumption and Greenhouse Gases Emissions of Passenger Transport Service

    Get PDF
The paper, within the model example, deals with the calculation of energy consumption in transport and with the calculation of greenhouse gas emissions generated by transport according to the methodology given in EN 16258 of 2013. The model example shows the passenger transport between point A and point B within bus transport and alternatively using the air transport combined with bus transport

Various Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) Usage Options and Possible Substitution

    Get PDF
Recently, there were many approaches and opinions discussing efficiency and usage of EDI and, additionally, whether EDI is still up-to-date or companies require substituting it with another platform instead. Based on these papers and findings, we conducted a survey to study the current status of EDI usage in the Czech Republic. Findings from our survey helped us to understand the relation between EDI adoption and eventual EDI substitution with regard to the size of companies in the Czech Republic. This paper is based mainly on the research of Czech and foreign literature and survey conducted in the particular areas of business in the Czech Republic. The main goal of this paper is to find out the current situation of EDI usage according to company sizes and a potential for EDI substitution in the Czech Republic. This paper is considered an extension of a research about EDI adoption according to industries and logistics model implementation in the Czech Republic

Utilization of the Capacitated Vehicle Routing Problem with the Capacity Limitation of Nodes in Water Transportation

    Get PDF
The paper discusses the option of using the capacitated vehicle routing problem with the capacity limitation of nodes in water transportation. The problem is used to design circular routes for vehicles of different carriers, each of which services the selected nodes of the transportation network. The goal is to design circular routes where the capacity of vehicles is not exceeded and the value of the objective function is minimal. The limited capacity of nodes is given by the limited number of vehicles that can be operated at a particular node at any given time. The problem allows to design circulation so that the waiting time of vehicles to release the capacity of the node is minimized. This makes it possible to achieve an additional reduction in the total traffic time. The possibility of using the role of the CVRPCLN in water transportation is demonstrated in a case study for the design of circular routes for vessels serving ports. The design of routes is performed using the described problem and using the capacitated vehicle routing problem, which does not take into account the limited capacity of the nodes. To solve both problems, the author uses an evolutionary algorithm, which is part of the optimization module Solver. A comparison of the results indicates that the use of the investigated task can lead to a significant reduction in waiting times in ports for selected tasks in the field of water transportation. This also leads to a significant reduction in the total traffic time

The Application of Mathematical Methods to the Determination of Transport Flows

This article deals with the basic mathematical methods applied to the determination of the size of traffic flows in an urban area transport network. The methods were applied to the design of a new system of public bus transport in the city of České Budějovice. This article represents the partial outcome of the research carried out by the Institute of Technology and Businesses in České Budějovice

Model of the Heavy Freight Vehicle's Running Speed Used for Diversion Traffic Routes Determination

    No full text
This paper describes the construction process of a discrete model of a heavy truck running speed. The running speed calculation is based on the technical parameters of the road (geometry, gradient, curves, etc.) and valid Czech legislation for road designing. In this article, road factors influencing the final heavy freight vehicle's running speed are presented as well. The main assumption is the fact that every heavy vehicle moves on the road by speed allowed by the geometry of this road, road signs and traffic flow characteristics (intensity, density or road capacity)
