A change of perspective: the challenge of teaching in Schools of Architecture with a participatory and creative methodology
Modernity has proposed replacing the discourse of architecture by science and
technology, but not least is that this discourse has been fragmented by many other
knowledge outside the logic of architecture. Raised the counterculture craftsman,
an approach that involves establishing a critical positioning based on the analysis
time (perspective on immediacy), history (trajectory versus spontaneity) and place
(specificity versus generality). It is not giving up anything or limitation established, it
is depth knowledge discipline from the immediacy which involves the creation of
student classwork. Only in this way will not be diluted in an interdisciplinary
discourse. The student, gradually, will choose one, nothing far from reality, a
complexity that makes you daily thinking about the place, history and time, but
always applied pragmatic complexity
Zoé enters the house: Biology in architectural training.
The knowledge in the formative stage for the later architectural practice is rigorously
updated due to the preparation and self-demanding of the teaching staff but,
structurally, a radical change of approach occurs with difficulty in the renewal of the
curricula. A disciplinary logic far removed from the current problems conservatively
focuses on teaching and, by extension, on the profession and, beyond that, on the
very definition of Architecture. The current pandemic crisis is leading to the extension
of the training of architects with knowledge of biology. Since 2010, the Master's in
Sustainable City and Arch. at the ETSA of Seville has been teaching its students to
design with living matter and to evaluate its consequences, in a transdisciplinary
experience that aims to be a pioneer as a model for future curricular updates,
including in Bachelor's degrees
The experience of inhabiting in new students: a teaching resource
The training in values of future architecture professionals and their awareness of the
role they will play in society are not topics that are often dealt with specifically in
higher studies in Architecture. However, the living situations during the COVID-19
pandemic have revealed great spatial demands that require professionals aware of
the needs of their now. In the teaching experience that is described and analyzed in
this text, the main topic is housing and its adaptability to contemporary living, taking
as a starting point the observation and questioning of the experience of living itself.
The virtual environment at a time of confined teaching and the teaching methodology
based on active learning, will be the supports of this rehearsed activity with new
students in Architecture.

The education of architectural projects structured in vertical workshops, in which
students of different years spend time on teaching has been a formula adopted in
different universities and historical periods, and constituted the fundamental
structure of this teaching in the School of Architecture of Seville since 1975 -76
until 1994-95. This teaching system generated important synergies between
teachers and students, especially between the students themselves who learned
not only from the teacher but also from classmates at higher levels, establishing a
structure similar to that of the craft workshops, facilitating the initiation into a new
practice, as it is the one of the artistic creation, improving the collaborative work
and the intergenerational relationship
Tactical Piacenza: creativity and new learning
asignatura History of Architecture and Landscape in the Contemporary Age dentro
del curso de máster (Laurea Magistrale) “Sustainable Architecture and Landscape
Creativa y Urbanismo Táctico"Tactical Piacenza" has been a training activity within the subject of History of
Architecture and Landscape in the Contemporary Age within the master's degree
(Laurea Magistrale) "Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design" of the
Scuola di Architettura, Urbanistica, Ingegneria delle Costruzioni of the Politecnico
Di Milano (Campus Piacenza) during the academic period 2016-17. This practice
used an active learning methodology developed by the research platform
"Laboratory Q: Places of Urban Creativity", originated in the School of Architecture
of the University of Seville and extended to other academic contexts in Latin
America and Europe. Within this theoretical / practical course of international
character on the history of the city and the contemporary landscape, Tactical
Piacenza satisfied a double objective: promoting a critical knowledge on the state
of the current European city, taking as case of study the context of Piacenza itself,
and introducing students to academic research, exploring the concepts of Creative

The methodological revolution of the Bologna Plan has placed students at the center of the teaching-learning processes, encouraging their participation based on a symmetrical dialogue with teachers. The methodologies thus become more active and require a greater commitment on the part of the students in their training and in the acquisition of knowledge and skills. In the present paper we focus on the course on Contemporary city taught within the area of Architectural History, Theory and Composition of Architecture in the last year of Architecture at the School of Seville, where we propose a responsible appropriation of the learning processes. In order to achieve this goal, the proposed strategies are based on creativity and gamification from the reading of a book, within a cooperative learning methodology, and always insisting on the architectural specificity and the creative use of tools and media
Immersion in architecture Project. Ideation, deabte and construction
This teaching methodological proposal aims to involve the first year students in the real complexity of architectural design, taking the three-dimensional model as a vehicle for learning. Expanding the scale of the model into a living space, the project reaches its target creating a place that can be explored and recognized in all its complexity. Ideation, debate and construction are essential operations in the proyectual creation process. Reflecting, exchanging ideas and defending them, finding new relationships and references, learning the material, its qualities and construction systems, are all recurring actions that occur simultaneously for the project development. Teaching this process as scheduled and directed procedure has been the main goal of this educational project implemented for five years, that is: systematizing the process from the initial stage of analysis and conception to the construction of two temporary/ephemeral exhibition pavilions, at the Higher Technical School of Architecture, Universidad de Sevilla in April 2015.Esta propuesta metodológica pretende favorecer la inmersión del alumno de primer curso en la realidad del proyecto arquitectónico, tomando como vehículo de aprendizaje la maqueta.

The architect addressing the new landscape paradigm: teaching implications
The landscape has been consolidated as a new management model for the territory in all its great variety of use scales and, for this reason, academic teaching in architecture, and in particular in architectural design, must come into play in this regard. This text offers a reflection about the landscape culture of the schools of architecture and attends the national and international scene to locate 32 teaching experiences that incorporate the landscape. After their examination, five teaching innovation lines in architectural design have been introduced: the incorporation of emerging paradigms in contemporary urbanism; interdisciplinary collaboration; inclusion of ICT tools; service-learning method and a review of the heritage discourse. The last one is studied in depth through the international workshops held by Designing Heritage Tourism Landscapes network.
