    A minimum single-band model for low-energy excitations in superconducting Kx_xFe2_2Se2_2

    We propose a minimum single-band model for the newly discovered iron-based superconducting Kx_xFe2_2Se2_2. Our model is found to be numerically consistent with the five-orbital model at low energies. Based on our model and the random phase approximation, we study the spin fluctuation and the pairing symmetry of superconducting gap function. The (π/2,π/2)(\pi/2,\pi/2) spin excitation and the dx2y2d_{x^2-y^2} pairing symmetry are revealed. All of the results can well be understood in terms of the interplay between the Fermi surface topology and the local spin interaction, providing a sound picture to explain why the superconducting transition temperature is as high as to be comparable to those in pnictides and some cuprates. A common origin of superconductivity is elucidated for this compound and other high-Tc_c materials.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure

    HCV 6a Prevalence in Guangdong Province Had the Origin from Vietnam and Recent Dissemination to Other Regions of China: Phylogeographic Analyses

    Recently in China, HCV 6a infection has shown a fast increase among patients and blood donors, possibly due to IDU linked transmission.We recruited 210 drug users in Shanwei city, Guangdong province. Among them, HCV RNA was detected in 150 (71.4%), both E1 and NS5B genes were sequenced in 136, and 6a genotyped in 70. Of the 6a sequences, most were grouped into three clusters while 23% represent emerging strains. For coalescent analysis, additional 6a sequences were determined among 21 blood donors from Vietnam, 22 donors from 12 provinces of China, and 36 IDUs from Liuzhou City in Guangxi Province. Phylogeographic analyses indicated that Vietnam could be the origin of 6a in China. The Guangxi Province, which borders Vietnam, could be the first region to accept 6a for circulation. Migration from Yunnan, which also borders Vietnam, might be equally important, but it was only detected among IDUs in limited regions. From Guangxi, 6a could have further spread to Guangdong, Yunnan, Hainan, and Hubei provinces. However, evidence showed that only in Guangdong has 6a become a local epidemic, making Guangdong the second source region to disseminate 6a to the other 12 provinces. With a rate of 2.737×10⁻³ (95% CI: 1.792×10⁻³ to 3.745×10⁻³), a Bayesian Skyline Plot was portrayed. It revealed an exponential 6a growth during 1994-1998, while before and after 1994-1998 slow 6a growths were maintained. Concurrently, 1994-1998 corresponded to a period when contaminated blood transfusion was common, which caused many people being infected with HIV and HCV, until the Chinese government outlawed the use of paid blood donations in 1998.With an origin from Vietnam, 6a has become a local epidemic in Guangdong Province, where an increasing prevalence has subsequently led to 6a spread to many other regions of China

    <p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>APPL1 and APPL2 are two adaptor proteins, which can mediate adiponectin signaling via binding to N terminus of adiponectin receptors in muscle cells. Genes encoding adiponectin and adiponectin receptors contribute to insulin resistance and the risk of obesity, and genetic variants of <it>APPL1 </it>are associated with body fat distribution. However, the association between genetic variations of <it>APPL2 </it>and metabolic traits remains unknown. Overweight and obesity were defined by body mass index (BMI). Obesity-related anthropometric parameters were measured, including height, weight, waist circumference, hip circumference. BMI and waist-hip ratio (WHR) were calculated.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>We found significant evidence of association with overweight/obesity for rs2272495 and rs1107756. rs2272495 C allele and rs1107756 T allele both conferred a higher risk of being overweight and obese (OR 1.218, 95% CI 1.047-1.416, <it>p </it>= 0.011 for rs2272495; OR 1.166, 95% CI 1.014-1.341, <it>p </it>= 0.031 for rs1107756). After adjusting multiple comparisons, only the effect of rs2272495 on overweight/obesity remained to be significant (empirical <it>p </it>= 0.043). Recent advance in genetic studies added the confirmed susceptible loci for type 2 diabetes to eighteen. In this study, we attempt to analyze the independent and joint effect of variants from these loci on type 2 diabetes and clinical phenotypes related to glucose metabolism.Twenty-one single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from fourteen loci were successfully genotyped in 1,849 subjects with type 2 diabetes and 1,785 subjects with normal glucose regulation. We analyzed the allele and genotype distribution between the cases and controls of these SNPs as well as the joint effects of the susceptible loci on type 2 diabetes risk. The associations between SNPs and type 2 diabetes were examined by logistic regression. The associations between SNPs and quantitative traits were examined by linear regression. The discriminative accuracy of the prediction models was assessed by area under the receiver operating characteristic curves. We confirmed the effects of SNPs from PPARG, KCNJ11, CDKAL1, CDKN2A-CDKN2B, IDE-KIF11-HHEX, IGF2BP2 and SLC30A8 on risk for type 2 diabetes, with odds ratios ranging from 1.114 to 1.406 (P value range from 0.0335 to 1.37E-12). But no significant association was detected between SNPs from WFS1, FTO, JAZF1, TSPAN8-LGR5, THADA, ADAMTS9, NOTCH2-ADAM30 and type 2 diabetes. Analyses on the quantitative traits in the control subjects showed that THADA SNP rs7578597 was association with 2-h insulin during oral glucose tolerance tests (P = 0.0005, empirical P = 0.0090). The joint effect analysis of SNPs from eleven loci showed the individual carrying more risk alleles had a significantly higher risk for type 2 diabetes. And the type 2 diabetes patients with more risk allele tended to have earlier diagnostic ages (P = 0.0006).The current study confirmed the association between PPARG, KCNJ11, CDKAL1, CDKN2A-CDKN2B, IDE-KIF11-HHEX, IGF2BP2 and SLC30A8 and type 2 diabetes. These type 2 diabetes risk loci contributed to the disease additively

    Roadmap on Perovskite Light-Emitting Diodes

    Full text link
    In recent years, the field of metal-halide perovskite emitters has rapidly emerged as a new community in solid-state lighting. Their exceptional optoelectronic properties have contributed to the rapid rise in external quantum efficiencies (EQEs) in perovskite light-emitting diodes (PeLEDs) from <1% (in 2014) to approaching 30% (in 2023) across a wide range of wavelengths. However, several challenges still hinder their commercialization, including the relatively low EQEs of blue/white devices, limited EQEs in large-area devices, poor device stability, as well as the toxicity of the easily accessible lead components and the solvents used in the synthesis and processing of PeLEDs. This roadmap addresses the current and future challenges in PeLEDs across fundamental and applied research areas, by sharing the community's perspectives. This work will provide the field with practical guidelines to advance PeLED development and facilitate more rapid commercialization.Comment: 103 pages, 29 figures. A New Look at the Scalar Meson f0(500)f_0(500) via D+π+π+νD^+\to \pi^+\pi^-\ell^+\nu_\ell Decays

    Using 2.93 fb12.93~\mathrm{fb}^{-1} of e+ee^+e^- collision data collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of 3.773 GeV, we investigate the semileptonic decays D+π+π+νD^+\to \pi^+\pi^- \ell^+\nu_\ell (=e\ell=e and μ\mu). The D+f0(500)μ+νμD^+\to f_0(500)\mu^+\nu_\mu decay is observed for the first time. By analyzing simultaneously the differential decay rates of D+f0(500)μ+νμD^+\to f_0(500) \mu^+\nu_\mu and D+f0(500)e+νeD^+\to f_0(500) e^+\nu_e in different +ν\ell^+\nu_\ell four-momentum transfer intervals, the product of the relevant hadronic form factor f+f0(0)f^{f_0}_{+}(0) and the magnitude of the cdc\to d Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix element Vcd|V_{cd}| is determined to be f+f0(0)Vcd=0.0787±0.0060stat±0.0033systf_{+}^{f_0} (0)|V_{cd}|=0.0787\pm0.0060_{\rm stat}\pm0.0033_{\rm syst} for the first time. With the input of Vcd|V_{cd}| from the global fit in the standard model, we determine f+f0(0)=0.350±0.027stat±0.015systf_{+}^{f_0} (0)=0.350\pm0.027_{\rm stat}\pm0.015_{\rm syst}. The absolute branching fractions of D+f0(500)(π+π)μ+νμD^+\to f_0(500)_{(\pi^+\pi^-)}\mu^+\nu_\mu and D+ρ(π+π)0μ+νμD^+\to \rho^0_{(\pi^+\pi^-)} \mu^+\nu_\mu are determined as (0.72±0.13stat±0.10syst)×103(0.72\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\times10^{-3} and (1.64±0.13stat±0.11syst)×103(1.64\pm0.13_{\rm stat}\pm0.11_{\rm syst})\times 10^{-3}. Combining these results with those of previous BESIII measurements on their semielectronic counterparts from the same data sample, we test lepton flavor universality by measuring the branching fraction ratios BD+ρ0μ+νμ/BD+ρ0e+νe=0.88±0.10{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to \rho^0 \mu^+\nu_\mu}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to \rho^0 e^+\nu_e}=0.88\pm0.10 and BD+f0(500)μ+νμ/BD+f0(500)e+νe=1.14±0.28{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) \mu^+\nu_\mu}/{\mathcal B}_{D^+\to f_0(500) e^+\nu_e}=1.14\pm0.28, which are compatible with the standard model expectation.Comment: Supplemental Materials added in this versio

    Improved measurements of the Dalitz decays η/ηγe+e\eta/\eta'\rightarrow\gamma e^{+}e^{-}

    Full text link
    Based on a data sample of 10 billion J/ψJ/\psi events collected with the BESIII detector, improved measurements of the Dalitz decays η/ηγe+e\eta/\eta'\rightarrow\gamma e^+e^- are performed, where the η\eta and η\eta' are produced through the radiative decays J/ψγη/ηJ/\psi\rightarrow\gamma \eta/\eta'. The branching fractions of ηγe+e\eta\rightarrow\gamma e^+e^- and ηγe+e\eta'\rightarrow\gamma e^+e^- are measured to be (7.07±0.05±0.23)×103(7.07 \pm 0.05 \pm 0.23)\times10^{-3} and (4.83±0.07±0.14)×104(4.83\pm0.07\pm0.14)\times10^{-4}, respectively. Within the single pole model, the parameter of electromagnetic transition form factor for ηγe+e\eta\rightarrow\gamma e^+e^- is determined to be Λη=(0.749±0.027±0.007) GeV/c2\Lambda_{\eta}=(0.749 \pm 0.027 \pm 0.007)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}. Within the multi-pole model, we extract the electromagnetic transition form factors for ηγe+e\eta'\rightarrow\gamma e^+e^- to be Λη=(0.802±0.007±0.008) GeV/c2\Lambda_{\eta'} = (0.802 \pm 0.007\pm 0.008)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2} and γη=(0.113±0.010±0.002) GeV/c2\gamma_{\eta'} = (0.113\pm0.010\pm0.002)~ {\rm GeV}/c^{2}. The results are consistent with both theoretical predictions and previous measurements. The characteristic sizes of the interaction regions for the η\eta and η\eta' are calculated to be (0.645±0.023±0.007) fm(0.645 \pm 0.023 \pm 0.007 )~ {\rm fm} and (0.596±0.005±0.006) fm(0.596 \pm 0.005 \pm 0.006)~ {\rm fm}, respectively. In addition, we search for the dark photon in η/ηγe+e\eta/\eta^\prime\rightarrow\gamma e^{+}e^{-}, and the upper limits of the branching fractions as a function of the dark photon are given at 90\% confidence level

    Search for an invisible muon philic scalar X0X_{0} or vector X1X_{1} via J/ψμ+μ+invisibleJ/\psi\to\mu^+\mu^-+\rm{invisible} decay at BESIII

    A light scalar X0X_{0} or vector X1X_{1} particles have been introduced as a possible explanation for the (g2)μ(g-2)_{\mu} anomaly and dark matter phenomena. Using (8.998±0.039)×109(8.998\pm 0.039)\times10^9 \jpsi events collected by the BESIII detector, we search for a light muon philic scalar X0X_{0} or vector X1X_{1} in the processes J/ψμ+μX0,1J/\psi\to\mu^+\mu^- X_{0,1} with X0,1X_{0,1} invisible decays. No obvious signal is found, and the upper limits on the coupling g0,1g_{0,1}' between the muon and the X0,1X_{0,1} particles are set to be between 1.1×1031.1\times10^{-3} and 1.0×1021.0\times10^{-2} for the X0,1X_{0,1} mass in the range of 1<M(X0,1)<10001<M(X_{0,1})<1000~MeV/c2/c^2 at 90%\% confidence level.Comment: 9 pages 7 figure
