Constraints on R-parity violating supersymmetry from leptonic and semileptonic tau, B_d and B_s decays
We put constraints on several products of R-parity violating lambda lambda'
and lambda' lambda' type couplings from leptonic and semileptonic tau, B_d and
B_s decays. Most of them are one to two orders of magnitude better than the
existing bounds, and almost free from theoretical uncertainties. A significant
improvement of these bounds can be made in high luminosity tau-charm or B

Measurement of the form-factor ratios for D+ --> K* l nu
The form factor ratios rv=V(0)/A1(0), r2=A2(0)/A1(0) and r3=A3(0)/A1(0) in
the decay D+ --> K* l nu, K* -->K-pi+ have been measured using data from charm
hadroproduction experiment E791 at Fermilab. From 3034 (595) signal
(background) events in the muon channel, we obtain rv=1.84+-0.11+-0.09,
r2=0.75+-0.08+-0.09 and, as a first measurement of r3, we find 0.04+-0.33
+-0.29. The values of the form factor ratios rv and r2 measured for the muon
channel are combined with the values of rv and r2 that we have measured in the
electron channel. The combined E791 results for the muon and electron channels
are rv=1.87+-0.08+-0.07 and r2=0.73+-0.06+-0.08.Comment: 9 pages + 3 figures ; submitted to PL

On kinematical constraints in boson-boson systems
We consider the scattering of two-bosons with negative parity and spin 0 or
1. Starting from helicity partial-wave scattering amplitudes we derive
transformations that eliminate all kinematical constraints. Such amplitudes are
expected to satisfy partial-wave dispersion relations and therefore provide a
suitable basis for data analysis and the construction of effective field
theories. Our derivation relies on a decomposition of the various scattering
amplitudes into suitable sets of invariant functions. A novel algebra was
developed that permits the efficient computation of such functions in terms of

Transcript- and annotation-guided genome assembly of the European starling
First published: 28 June 2022The European starling, Sturnus vulgaris, is an ecologically significant, globally invasive avian species that is also suffering from a major decline in its native range. Here, we present the genome assembly and long- read transcriptome of an Australian-sourced European starling (S. vulgaris vAU), and a second, North American, short- read genome assembly (S. vulgaris vNA), as complementary reference genomes for population genetic and evolutionary characterization. S. vulgaris vAU combined 10Ă genomics linked- reads, low-coverage Nanopore sequencing, and PacBio Iso-Seq full- length transcript scaffolding to generate a 1050 Mb assembly on 6222 scaffolds (7.6 Mb scaffold N50, 94.6% busco completeness). Further scaffolding against the high-quality zebra finch (Taeniopygia guttata) genome assigned 98.6% of the assembly to 32 puta-tive nuclear chromosome scaffolds. Species-specific transcript mapping and gene an-notation revealed good gene- level assembly and high functional completeness. Using S. vulgaris vAU, we demonstrate how the multifunctional use of PacBio Iso-Seq tran-script data and complementary homology-based annotation of sequential assembly steps (assessed using a new tool, saaga) can be used to assess, inform, and validate assembly workflow decisions. We also highlight some counterintuitive behaviour in traditional busco metrics, and present buscomp, a complementary tool for assembly comparison designed to be robust to differences in assembly size and base-calling quality. This work expands our knowledge of avian genomes and the available toolkit for assessing and improving genome quality. The new genomic resources presented will facilitate further global genomic and transcriptomic analysis on this ecologically important species.Katarina C. Stuart, Richard J. Supersymmetry beyond minimal flavour violation
We review the sources and phenomenology of non-minimal flavour violation in
the MSSM. We discuss in some detail the most important theoretical and
experimental constraints, as well as promising observables to look for
supersymmetric effects at the LHC and in the future. We emphasize the
sensitivity of flavour physics to the mechanism of supersymmetry breaking and
to new degrees of freedom present at fundamental scales, such as the grand
unification scale. We include a discussion of present data that may hint at

Measurement of the View the tt production cross-section using eÎŒ events with b-tagged jets in pp collisions at âs = 13 TeV with the ATLAS detector
This paper describes a measurement of the inclusive top quark pair production cross-section (ÏttÂŻ) with a data sample of 3.2 fbâ1 of protonâproton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of âs = 13 TeV, collected in 2015 by the ATLAS detector at the LHC. This measurement uses events with an opposite-charge electronâmuon pair in the final state. Jets containing b-quarks are tagged using an algorithm based on track impact parameters and reconstructed secondary vertices. The numbers of events with exactly one and exactly two b-tagged jets are counted and used to determine simultaneously ÏttÂŻ and the efficiency to reconstruct and b-tag a jet from a top quark decay, thereby minimising the associated systematic uncertainties. The cross-section is measured to be:
ÏttÂŻ = 818 ± 8 (stat) ± 27 (syst) ± 19 (lumi) ± 12 (beam) pb,
where the four uncertainties arise from data statistics, experimental and theoretical systematic effects, the integrated luminosity and the LHC beam energy, giving a total relative uncertainty of 4.4%. The result is consistent with theoretical QCD calculations at next-to-next-to-leading order. A fiducial measurement corresponding to the experimental acceptance of the leptons is also presented
Measurement of the cross section for isolated-photon plus jet production in pp collisions at âs=13 TeV using the ATLAS detector
The dynamics of isolated-photon production in association with a jet in protonâproton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV are studied with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using a dataset with an integrated luminosity of 3.2 fbâ1. Photons are required to have transverse energies above 125 GeV. Jets are identified using the anti- algorithm with radius parameter and required to have transverse momenta above 100 GeV. Measurements of isolated-photon plus jet cross sections are presented as functions of the leading-photon transverse energy, the leading-jet transverse momentum, the azimuthal angular separation between the photon and the jet, the photonâjet invariant mass and the scattering angle in the photonâjet centre-of-mass system. Tree-level plus parton-shower predictions from Sherpa and Pythia as well as next-to-leading-order QCD predictions from Jetphox and Sherpa are compared to the measurements
