The Return to Capital in China
China's investment rate is one of the highest in the world, which naturally leads one to suspect that the return to capital in China must be quite low. Using the data from China's national accounts, we estimate the rate of return to capital in China. We find that the aggregate rate of return to capital averaged 25% during 1978-1993, fell during 1993-1998, and has become flat at roughly 20% since 1998. This evidence suggests that the aggregate return to capital in China does not appear to be significantly lower than the return to capital in the rest of the world. We also find that the standard deviation of the rate of return to capital across Chinese provinces has fallen since 1978.
Impurity scattering and Friedel oscillations in mono-layer black phosphorus
We study the effect of impurity scattering effect in black phosphorurene (BP)
in this work. For single impurity, we calculate impurity induced local density
of states (LDOS) in momentum space numerically based on tight-binding
Hamiltonian. In real space, we calculate LDOS and Friedel oscillation
analytically. LDOS shows strong anisotropy in BP. Many impurities in BP are
investigated using -matrix approximation when the density is low. Midgap
states appear in band gap with peaks in DOS. The peaks of midgap states are
dependent on impurity potential. For finite positive potential, the impurity
tends to bind negative charge carriers and vise versa. The infinite impurity
potential problem is related to chiral symmetry in BP
Proposal of Direct Search for Strongly Bound States of ppbar, npbar Systems with High Intensity and Collective pbar beam
In this letter, we discuss the possibility to look for the direct evidence of
the existence of the ppbar and npbar bound states. Measurement of the single
\gamma ray from the ppbar and npbar systems at rest can directly confirm
whether the X(1860) and X(1835) are the resonances which are strongly coupled
to ppbar. In addition to the neutral candidate, a charged resonance is
also proposed to be searched for in npbar channel. We find that the data from
the Crystal Barrel experiment at LEAR/CERN can be used to confirm the X(1835)
observed by BES Collaboration. The possibility of measuring the
spectrum below 100 MeV at the new experiment with cold high intensity \pbar
beam at GSI is discussed. These new techniques can be used to probe the
structure of the X(1860) and X(1835) in the future.Comment: Accepted by Mod. Phys. Lett.
