CGC, QCD Saturation and RHIC data (Kharzeev-Levin-McLerran-Nardi point of view)
This is the talk given at the Workshop:"Focus on Multiplicitioes", Bari,
Italy, 17-19 June,2004.. In this talk, we are going to discuss ion-ion and
deuteron - nucleus RHIC data and show that they support, if not more, the idea
of the new QCD phase: colour glass condensate with saturated parton density. .Comment: 26 pages with 33 figure
Strangeness and heavy flavor at RHIC: Recent results from PHENIX
We report recent results of strangeness and heavy flavor measurements from
PHENIX.
The topics are: Elliptic flow of strangeness and heavy flavor electron
production comparing to the other hadrons, meson production, and an
exotic particle search.Comment: 8 pages, 6 figures, 1 table. Submitted to J. Phys. G (Proceedings of

Centrality and dE_{T}/d\etadN_{ch}/d\eta$ in Heavy Ion Collisions at Mid-Rapidity
The PHENIX experiment at RHIC has measured transverse energy and charged
particle multiplicity at mid-rapidity in Au + Au collisions at
= 19.6, 130, 62.4 and 200 GeV as a function of centrality. The presented
results are compared to measurements from other RHIC experiments, and
experiments at lower energies. The dependence of
and per pair of participants is consistent with logarithmic
scaling for the most central events. The centrality dependence of
and is similar at all measured incident
energies. At RHIC energies the ratio of transverse energy per charged particle
was found independent of centrality and growing slowly with . A
survey of comparisons between the data and available theoretical models is also
presented.Comment: Proccedings of the Workshop: Focus on Multiplcity at Bari, Italy,

Global polarization of QGP in non-central heavy ion collisions at high energies
Due to the presence of a large orbital angular momentum of the parton system
produced at the early stage of non-central heavy-ion collisions, quarks and
anti-quarks are shown to be polarized in the direction opposite to the reaction
plane which is determined by the impact-parameter and the beam momentum. The
global quark polarization via elastic scattering was first calculated in an
effective static potential model, then using QCD at finite temperature with the
hard-thermal-loop re-summed gluon propagator. The measurable consequences are
discussed. Global hyperon polarization from the hadronization of polarized
quarks are predicted independent of the hadronization scenarios. It has also
been shown that the global polarization of quarks and anti-quarks leads also to
spin alignment of vector mesons. Dedicated measurements at RHIC are underway
and some of the preliminary results are obtained. In this presentation, the
basic idea and main results of global quark polarization are presented. The
direct consequences such as global hyperon polarization and spin alignment are
summarized.Comment: plenary talk at the 19th International Conference on

What's Interesting About Strangeness Production? - An Overview of Recent Results
In this paper I highlight a few selected topics on strange particle
production in heavy-ion collisions. By studying the yield and spectra of
strange particles we hope to gain understanding of the conditions reached in,
and the ensuing dynamics of, the systems produced when ultra-relativistic
heavy-ions are collided.Comment: 17 Pages, 18 figures, Hot Quarks 2004 Proceeding
Rapidity dependence of hadron production in central Au+Au collisions at GeV
The rapidity and transverse momentum spectra for identified hadrons in
central Au+Au collisions at GeV are computed in a quark
combination model. The data of rapidity distributions for ,
, and net protons are well described. We
also predict rapidity distributions for , ,
() and
. The multiplicity ratios of
charged antihadrons to hadrons as a function of rapidity are reproduced. The
results for spectra of , , and for
the ratios in a broader range agree well with the data.
Finally the rapidity dependence of transverse momentum distributions for
hadrons are given.Comment: 10 pages,11figures,3 table
