A Matrix Model for AdS2
A matrix quantum mechanics with potential and an SL(2,R)
conformal symmetry is conjectured to be dual to two-dimensional type 0A string
theory on AdS with units of RR flux.Comment: 12 page
N=1/2 quiver gauge theories from open strings with R-R fluxes
We consider a four dimensional N=1 gauge theory with bifundamental matter and
a superpotential, defined on stacks of fractional branes. By turning on a flux
for the R-R graviphoton field strength and computing open string amplitudes
with insertions of R-R closed string vertices, we introduce a
non-anticommutative deformation and obtain the N=1/2 version of the theory. We
also comment on the appearance of a new structure in the effective Lagrangian.Comment: 30 pages, 5 figures, JHEP class (included); some comments and a

Effective actions, Wilson lines and the IR/UV mixing in noncommutative supersymmetric gauge theories
We study IR/UV mixing effects in noncommutative supersymmetric Yang-Mills
theories with gauge group U(N) using background field perturbation theory. We
compute three- and four-point functions of background fields, and show that the
IR/UV mixed contributions to these correlators can be reproduced from an
explicitly gauge-invariant effective action, which is expressed in terms of
open Wilson lines.Comment: 23 pages, 8 figures. v2: new section and references added, effective
action expressed only in terms of open Wilson lines operator
D=2, N=2, Supersymmetric theories on Non(anti)commutative Superspace
The classical action of a two dimensional N=2 supersymmetric theory,
characterized by a general K\"{a}hler potential, is written down on a
non(anti)commutative superspace. The action has a power series expansion in
terms of the determinant of the non(anti)commutativity parameter
. The theory is explicitly shown to preserve half of the N=2
supersymmetry, to all orders in (det C)^n. The results are further generalized
to include arbitrary superpotentials as well.Comment: 32 pages, Latex; v2:minor typos corrected and a reference adde
Fundamental Superstrings as Holograms
The worldsheet of a macroscopic fundamental superstring in the Green-Schwarz
light-cone gauge is viewed as a possible boundary hologram of the near horizon
region of a small black string. For toroidally compactified strings, the
hologram has global symmetries of AdS_3 \times S^{d-1} \times T^{8-d}, (d
=3,..,8), only some of which extend to local conformal symmetries. We construct
the bulk string theory in detail for the particular case of d=3. The symmetries
of the hologram are correctly reproduced from this exact worldsheet description
in the bulk. Moreover, the central charge of the boundary Virasoro algebra
obtained from the bulk agrees with the Wald entropy of the associated small
black holes. This construction provides an exact CFT description of the near
horizon region of small black holes both in Type-II and heterotic string theory
arising from multiply wound fundamental superstrings.Comment: 46 pages, JHEP style. v2: Comments, references adde
Amplitudes With Different Helicity Configurations Of Noncommutative QED
The amplitudes of purely photonic and photon{2-fermion processes of non-
commutative QED (NCQED) are derived for different helicity configurations of
photons. The basic ingredient is the NCQED counterpart of Yang-Mills recursion
relations by means of Berends and Giele. The explicit solutions of recursion
relations for NCQED photonic processes with special helicity configurations are
presented.Comment: 23 pages, 2 figure
Open Strings in Exactly Solvable Model of Curved Spacetime and PP-Wave Limit
In this paper we study the superstring version of the exactly solvable string
model constructed by Russo and Tseytlin. This model represents superstring
theory in a curved spacetime and can be seen as a generalization of the Melvin
background. We investigate D-branes in this model as probes of the background
geometry by constructing the boundary states. We find that spacetime
singularities in the model become smooth at high energy from the viewpoint of
open string. We show that there always exist bulk (movable) D-branes by the
effect of electric flux. The model also includes Nappi-Witten model as the
Penrose limit and supersymmetry is enhanced in the limit. We examine this
phenomenon in the open string spectrum. We also find the similar enhancement of
supersymmetry can be occurred in several coset models.Comment: Latex, 32 pages, typos corrected, references added, to appear in

Morphological dimorphism in the Y chromosome of "pĂ©-duro" cattle in the Brazilian State of PiauĂ
"PĂ©-duro" (hard foot) is a rare breed of beef cattle of European (Bos taurus taurus) origin, originated in northern and northeastern Brazil. Y chromosome morphology, outer genital elements and other phenotypic characteristics were examined in 75 "pĂ©-duro" bulls from the Empresa Brasileira de Pesquisa AgropecuĂĄria (Embrapa) herd in the Brazilian State of PiauĂ. The purpose was to investigate possible racial contamination with Zebu animals (Bos taurus indicus) in a cattle that has been considered closest to its European origin (B. t. taurus). The presence of both submetacentric and acrocentric Y chromosomes, typical of B. t. taurus and B. t. indicus, respectively, and the larger preputial sheath in bulls with an acrocentric Y chromosome indicated racial contamination of the "pĂ©-duro" herd with Zebu cattle.
