LITERATURE REVIEW : HUBUNGAN AKTIVITAS FISIK DENGAN DISMENORE PRIMER PADA REMAJA
Latar Belakang : Dismenore primer sering terjadi pada remaja karena hormon yang dihasilkan belum stabil. Prevalensi dismenore primer pada remaja Indonesia adalah 60-75%. Aktivitas fisik adalah salah satu faktor resiko terjadinya dismenore primer. Aktivitas fisik remaja menurun setiap tahun. Tujuan : Literature review ini bertujuan menganalisis hubungan antara aktivitas fisik dengan dismenore primer pada remaja. Metode: Mesin pencarian data yang digunakan adalah Google Scholar, Science Direct, dan Garuda. Jurnal yang dikumpulkan adalah jurnal nasional dan internasional sejak tahun 2015-2020. Pencarian artikel penelitian ini menggunakan kriteria inklusi dan eksklusi. Literature review ini menggunakan 15 jurnal nasional dan 8 jurnal internasional. Hasil : Jurnal yang menyatakan aktivitas fisik berhubungan dengan dismenore primer pada remaja ditemukan sebanyak 21 jurnal, sedangkan 2 jurnal menyatakan tidak berhubungan. Aktivitas fisik meningkatkan endorphin, memperlancar aliran darah kebagian genital, dan meningkatkan vasodilatasi pembuluh darah. Kesimpulan: Aktivitas fisik berhubungan dengan dismenore primer pada remaja

The Impact of Different Antibiotic Regimens on the Emergence of Antimicrobial-Resistant Bacteria
Backgroud: The emergence and ongoing spread of antimicrobial-resistant bacteria is a major public health threat. Infections caused by antimicrobial-resistant bacteria are associated with substantially higher rates of morbidity and mortality compared to infections caused by antimicrobial-susceptible bacteria. The emergence and spread of these bacteria is complex and requires incorporating numerous interrelated factors which clinical studies cannot adequately address. Methods/Principal Findings: A model is created which incorporates several key factors contributing to the emergence and spread of resistant bacteria including the effects of the immune system, acquisition of resistance genes and antimicrobial exposure. The model identifies key strategies which would limit the emergence of antimicrobial-resistant bacterial strains. Specifically, the simulations show that early initiation of antimicrobial therapy and combination therapy with two antibiotics prevents the emergence of resistant bacteria, whereas shorter courses of therapy and sequential administration of antibiotics promote the emergence of resistant strains. Conclusions/Significance: The principal findings suggest that (i) shorter lengths of antibiotic therapy and early interruption of antibiotic therapy provide an advantage for the resistant strains, (ii) combination therapy with two antibiotics prevents the emergence of resistance strains in contrast to sequential antibiotic therapy, and (iii) early initiation of antibiotics is among the most important factors preventing the emergence of resistant strains. These findings provide new insights into strategies aimed at optimizing the administration of antimicrobials for the treatment of infections and the prevention of the emergence of antimicrobial resistance
Propensity scores in the presence of effect modification: A case study using the comparison of mortality on hemodialysis versus peritoneal dialysis
Purpose. To control for confounding bias from non-random treatment assignment in observational data, both traditional multivariable models and more recently propensity score approaches have been applied. Our aim was to compare a propensity score-stratified model with a traditional multivariable-adjusted model, specifically in estimating survival of hemodialysis (HD) versus peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients. Methods. Using the Dutch End-Stage Renal Disease Registry, we constructed a propensity score, predicting PD assignment from age, gender, primary renal disease, center of dialysis, and year of first renal replacement therapy. We developed two Cox proportional hazards regression models to estimate survival on PD relative to HD, a propensity score-stratified model stratifying on the propensity score and a multivariable-adjusted model, and tested several interaction terms in both models. Results. The propensity score performed well: it showed a reasonable fit, had a good c-statistic, calibrated well and balanced the covariates. The main-effects multivariable-adjusted model and the propensity score-stratified univariable Cox model resulted in similar relative mortality risk estimates of PD compared with HD (0.99 and 0.97, respectively) with fewer significant covariates in the propensity model. After introducing the missing interaction variables for effect modification in both models, the mortality risk estimates for both main effects and interactions remained comparable, but the propensity score model had nearly as many covariates because of the additional interaction variables. Conclusion. Although the propensity score performed well, it did not alter the treatment effect in the outcome model and lost its advantage of parsimony in the presence of effect modification
A Mechanism for Evolving Novel Plant Sesquiterpene Synthase Function
Plant sesquiterpene synthases, a subset of the terpene synthase superfamily, are a mechanistically diverse family of enzymes capable of synthesizing hundreds of complex compounds with high regio‐ and stereospecificity and are of biological importance due to their role in plant defense mechanisms. In the current report we describe a large‐scale, high‐resolution phylogenetic analysis of ∼200 plant sesquiterpene synthases integrated with structural and experimental data that address these issues. We observe that all sequences that cluster together on the phylogenetic tree into well‐defined groups share at least the first reaction in the catalytic mechanism subsequent to the initial ionization step and many share steps beyond this down to proton transfers between the enzyme and substrate. Most significant is the previously unreported high conservation of an Asp‐Tyr‐Asp triad. Due to its high conservation, patterns in the phylogenetic tree as well as experimental and modeling results, we suggest that this Asp‐Tyr‐Asp triad is an important functional element responsible for many proton transfers to and from the substrate and intermediates along the plant sesquiterpene synthase catalytic cycle and whose position can be tuned by residues outside the active site that can lead to the evolution of novel enzyme function.Peer Reviewedhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/86986/1/minf_201100087_sm_miscellaneous_information.pdfhttp://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/86986/2/896_ftp.pd
