    Urban aesthetics: emergence and development

    Get PDF
At the beginning of the 3rd millennium, when urban settlements become more and more crowded due to the work and life conditions they offer, urban aesthetics is becoming increasingly imperative. This is all the more important as population growth, in some cities has influenced directly the city’s architecture, determining a growth of residential constructions, which, seldom, did not appeal to the “laws of beauty”. The purpose of this paper is to highlight the necessity of urban aesthetics and the role urban architecture should play in developing the city, in an attempt to accomplish a perfect combination between usefulness and pleasantry.urban geography, urban aesthetics, environment

The title of this paper was suggested by the confusion existing even among certainmediators about what mediation is and what it represents actually. Is mediation “a different type of justice” or, otherwise, it is “an alternative totraditional justice”? Is mediation a procedure still unknown to the public and professionals? Is mediation insufficiently publicised? Is there a background of distrust about this procedure? In this paper we are trying to answer these questions and suggest solutions likely todetermine the strengthening and promoting of the mediation procedure like a procedure bothefficient and necessary all the same

Audit Techniques for Service Oriented Architecture Applications

    Get PDF
The Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) approach enables the development of flexible distributed applications. Auditing such applications implies several specific challenges related to interoperability, performance and security. The service oriented architecture model is described and the advantages of this approach are analyzed. We also highlight several quality attributes and potential risks in SOA applications that an architect should be aware when designing a distributed system. Key risk factors are identified and a model for risk evaluation is introduced. The top reasons for auditing SOA applications are presented as well as the most important standards. The steps for a successful audit process are given and discussed.Service Oriented Architecture, Audit, Quality Attributes, Interoperability, Performance, Security

PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS FOR AN EXPERIMENTAL DIESEL ENGINE FUELED BY A MIXTURE OF RAPESSEED OIL AND DIESEL

    Get PDF
Due to the current international situation in terms of rising energy prices, biodiesel remains an extremely attractive fuel in terms of alternative fuels for agriculture sector. The advantages of using biodiesel by diesel engines can be explained both by the fact that it is produced from renewable sources with lower costs than conventional fuels and by the fact that biodiesel is comparable in terms of performance with conventional fuels. Besides the fact that it is obtained from green sources studies have shown that biodiesel has a number of advantages in terms of pollutant emissions. In this paper we will analyze the performances obtained by an experimental single-cylinder engine model AVL 5402
