PUBLIC ENTERPRISES---CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND THE ROLE OF GOVERNMENT
Public sector occupies a prominent position in the Indian economy. The present government policy is to divest its holding in PSUs, without privatizing profit making PSUs. It has also decided to provide full autonomy to the board of directors of those enterprises. This provides an interesting setting to examine corporate governance issues. This paper examines corporate governance issues in the context of present disinvestment policy of the government.Public Sector Enterprises, State-Owned Enterprises
Model study of hot and dense baryonic matter
The properties of baryonic matter have been investigated at finite density
and temperature using different models. The variation of baryon masses and
fractional number densities with baryon density and temperature obtained from
different models have been compared. The quark hadron phase transition have
been studied using Chiral Colour Dieletric (CCD) model in the quark sector. No
phase transition has been seen for the different variants of the
Zimanyi-Moszkowski model. However, a phase transition is observed for the
linear and non-linear Walecka model.Comment: Latex, 16 postscript figures available on reques
Scaling Function for the Critical Specific Heat in a Confined Geometry : Spherical Limit
The scaling function for the critical specific heat is obtained exactly for
temperatures above the bulk transition temperature by working in the spherical
limit. Generalization of the function to arbitrary (the specific heat
exponent), gives an excellent account of the experimental data of Mehta and
Gasparini near the superfluid transition.Comment: 11 pages (LaTeX), 2 figures (PostScript
