Abhyanga (oil massage) which is one among the Dinacharya, is also a part of pre therapeutic procedures of Panchakarma. Abhyanga is to be considered in Snehana therapy. As it nourishes the senses of mind and gives the strength. but if done in any region like localised in head, neck, legs etc then it is termed as Shiroabhyanga, Padabhyanga etc. Full body massage gives strength to whole body but localised massage gives strength to that particular part of the body. Localised massage can be practised by oneself. Thus it is easy to practise. But for Abhyanga one need to be dependent on massage trainer. The instructions to be followed under localised massage also. It gives its benefits; when it is done in right manner only

    A Comparative Study of AODV, DSR, and DYMO routing protocols using OMNeT++

    The work presented here i s a summary of the results obtained when routing protocols viz. AODV, DSR, DYMO were simulated using virtual hosts on a discrete - event simulation: OMNeT++ v4.2.1. The three protocols are run on a simulation setup of 20 nodes without any mobility models. Thi s allows us to focus our attention on solely the MAC properties and related results derived from the three protocols. We describe and compare the three routing protocols on available parameters like contention window, SNIR, routing overhead, radio state an d more. We conclude by stating the DYMO emerges as the better protocol of the three examined here

    Successful monitoring of the 11 April 2012 tsunami off the coast of Sumatra by Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre

    The Indian Tsunami Early Warning Centre (ITEWC) in Hyderabad monitored the 11 April 2012 tsunami off the coast of Sumatra, which was generated by a shallow strike-slip earthquake and it largest aftershock of magnitude Mw (mB) 8.5 and 8.2 respectively, that occurred inside the subducting slab of the Indian plate. The earthquake generated a small ocean-wide tsunami that has been recorded by various tide gauges and tsunami buoys located in the Indian Ocean region. ITEWC detected the earthquake within 3 min 52 s and issued six advisories (bulletins) according to its Standard Operating Procedure. The ITEWC performed well during the event, and avoided false alarms and unnecessary public evacuations, especially in the mainland part of India region

    Traditional approach to health care and cure has been the basic concept of Panchakarma. The Panchakarma is a branch of Ayurveda and one of the oldest health systems in the world with wide acceptance among large segments of the population. Svedana which is a major procedure of Panchakarma acts unanimously as Purvakarma, Pradhana Karma and Pashchat Karma, fight against diseases and becoming more successful in achieving Samyavastha. By its versatility it shows its effectiveness in the diseases of almost all the system by mostly causing vasodilatation and improved general circulation leading to healthy return in the condition. Svedana is considered as Bahirparimarjana Chikitsa and one among the Sad-Upakrama. Svedana which is a major procedure of Panchakarma and it is subdivided into Purvakarma, Pradhana Karma and Pashchat Karma. It is an independent Upakarma, as a Purvakarma measures generally done after Deepana, Pachana and Snehana, before administration of Shodhana treatment, Svedana is a process to induce sweating artificially in a patient who had already undergone Snehana may be or may not be. The heat is generated directly (Saagni) or indirectly (Niragni). Svedana liquefies the Doshas, clears the obstruction of channels of circulation and directs the Doshas to selective places from where they can be expelled easily. In the Vedic era the use of Natural remedies like sun-rays, fire were advocated as remedy in many disorders and mentioned as destroyers of Rakshas i.e. microbes.     Alopecia is caused by androgen and genetic factors. Androgens cause hair follicles to shrink and eventually disappear if they are not addressed. It is inherited as an autosomal dominant trait. A 26-year-old male presented to the Panchakarma OPD Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda and Hospital, Hassan, with complaints of gradual hair loss and scalp itching over a two-year period. It was diagnosed as a case of Khalitya and was treated with Udwartana to Shira Pradesha, Pracchana, and Lepa application. The Norman Hamilton scale, hair pull test and symptoms before and after treatment were used to evaluate the case. Following treatment, there was a significant reduction in symptoms and significant hair growth

    Amlapiita is a very common disease of present era and a disease of Annavaha Strotas, and is commonly observed in these days of modernization and industrialization. 30% of the general population is suffering from gastro-oesophageal reflux and gastritis resulting in heartburn. It is very troublesome disease and can give rise to many serious problems if not treated in time. Signs and symptoms of Amlapiita are very similar to gastritis or hyperacidity. According to conventional medical science the most common causes of gastritis are H. pylori infections and prolonged use of NonSteroidal Anti Inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDS). Gastritis is believed to affect about half of people worldwide. In 2015 there were approximately 90 million new cases of this condition. As people get older the disease becomes more common. It, along with a similar condition in the first part of the intestines known as duodenitis, resulted in 50,000 deaths in 2017. The five procedure of Panchakarma done through several procedures purify the body system by removing morbid Doshas from the body. These purification methods are essential components of the curative management of these diseases that are not controlled by palliative management

    Disruption of Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 K5 Capsule Biosynthesis, through Loss of Distinct kfi genes, Modulates Interaction with Intestinal Epithelial Cells and Impact on Cell Health

    Escherichia coli Nissle 1917 (EcN) is among the best characterised probiotics, with a proven clinical impact in a range of conditions. Despite this, the mechanisms underlying these "probiotic effects" are not clearly defined. Here we applied random transposon mutagenesis to identify genes relevant to the interaction of EcN with intestinal epithelial cells. This demonstrated mutants disrupted in the kfiB gene, of the K5 capsule biosynthesis cluster, to be significantly enhanced in attachment to Caco-2 cells. However, this phenotype was distinct from that previously reported for EcN K5 deficient mutants (kfiC null mutants), prompting us to explore further the role of kfiB in EcN:Caco-2 interaction. Isogenic mutants with deletions in kfiB (EcNΔkfiB), or the more extensively characterised K5 capsule biosynthesis gene kfiC (EcNΔkfiC), were both shown to be capsule deficient, but displayed divergent phenotypes with regard to impact on Caco-2 cells. Compared with EcNΔkfiC and the EcN wild-type, EcNΔkfiB exhibited significantly greater attachment to Caco-2 cells, as well as apoptotic and cytotoxic effects. In contrast, EcNΔkfiC was comparable to the wild-type in these assays, but was shown to induce significantly greater COX-2 expression in Caco-2 cells. Distinct differences were also apparent in the pervading cell morphology and cellular aggregation between mutants. Overall, these observations reinforce the importance of the EcN K5 capsule in host-EcN interactions, but demonstrate that loss of distinct genes in the K5 pathway can modulate the impact of EcN on epithelial cell health

    Error and attack tolerance of complex networks

    Many complex systems, such as communication networks, display a surprising degree of robustness: while key components regularly malfunction, local failures rarely lead to the loss of the global information-carrying ability of the network. The stability of these complex systems is often attributed to the redundant wiring of the functional web defined by the systems' components. In this paper we demonstrate that error tolerance is not shared by all redundant systems, but it is displayed only by a class of inhomogeneously wired networks, called scale-free networks. We find that scale-free networks, describing a number of systems, such as the World Wide Web, Internet, social networks or a cell, display an unexpected degree of robustness, the ability of their nodes to communicate being unaffected by even unrealistically high failure rates. However, error tolerance comes at a high price: these networks are extremely vulnerable to attacks, i.e. to the selection and removal of a few nodes that play the most important role in assuring the network's connectivity.Comment: 14 pages, 4 figures, Late

    Inkjet printing infiltration of Ni-Gd:CeO2 anodes for low temperature solid oxide fuel cells.

    ABSTRACT: The effect of inkjet printing infiltration of Gd0.1Ce0.9O2-x in NiO-Gd0.1Ce0.9O2-x anodes on the performance of symmetrical and button cells was investigated. The anodes were fabricated by inkjet printing of suspension and sol inks. Symmetrical cells were produced from composite suspension inks on Gd0.1Ce0.9O2-x electrolyte. As-prepared scaffolds were infiltrated with Gd0.1Ce0.9O2 ink. Increasing the number of infiltration steps led to formation of "nano-decoration" on pre-sintered anodes. High resolution SEM analysis was employed for micro-structural characterization revealing formation of fine anode sub-structure with nanoparticle size varying in the range of 50-200 nm. EIS tests were conducted on symmetrical cells in 4% hydrogen/argon gas flow. The measurements showed substantial reduction of the activation polarization as a function of the number of infiltrations. The effect was assigned to the extension of the triple phase boundary. The i-V testing of a reference (NiO-8 mol% Y2O3 stabilized ZrO2/NiO-Gd0.1Ce0.9O2-x /Gd0.1Ce0.9O2-x /Gd0.1Ce0.9O2-x -La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ ) cell and an identical cell with infiltrated anode revealed ~2.5 times improvement in the maximum output power at 600 °C which corresponded with the reduction of the polarization resistance of the symmetrical cells at the same temperature (2.8 times). This study demonstrated the potential of inkjet printing technology as an infiltration tool for cost effective commercial SOFC processing

    Protein-Specific Features Associated with Variability in Human Antibody Responses to Plasmodium falciparum Malaria Antigens

    The magnitude of antibody responses varies across the individual proteins that constitute any given microorganism, both in the context of natural infection and vaccination with attenuated or inactivated pathogens. The protein-specific factors underlying this variability are poorly understood. In 267 individuals exposed to intense seasonal malaria, we examined the relationship between immunoglobulin G (IgG) responses to 861 Plasmodium falciparum proteins and specific features of these proteins, including their subcellular location, relative abundance, degree of polymorphism, and whether they are predicted to have human orthologs. We found that IgG reactivity was significantly higher to extracellular and plasma membrane proteins and also correlated positively with both protein abundance and degree of protein polymorphism. Conversely, IgG reactivity was significantly lower to proteins predicted to have human orthologs. These findings provide insight into protein-specific factors that are associated with variability in the magnitude of antibody responses to natural P. falciparum infection-data that could inform vaccine strategies to optimize antibody-mediated immunity as well as the selection of antigens for sero-diagnostic purposes
