Methorics of the Precipitation Processes. XII. Mutual Influence of Silver Halides in Precipitation Processes

    Get PDF
Our investigations into the mutual influence of silver halides on precipitation processes, using sols in statu nascendi, included the systems AgBr-AgI and AgCl-AgI. The general result of our investigations is that those halide ions which make the least soluble salt with Ag-ions are preferred in building up the crystal lattice of silver halides. If such ions are in excess over the Ag-ions in the system, then neither the crystal growth nor the coagulation of sol particles will much depend upon the presence of other halide ions. This dependence is small in the system AgBr-AgI and almost vanishes in the system AgCl-AgI

Methorics of the Precipitation Processes. XVII. A Study of the Simultaneous Precipitation of Silver Halides with Silver Cyanide and Silver Thiocyanate

Mixed Ā»binaryĀ« systems were prepared by simultaneous precipitation of a silver halide with silver cyanide or silver thiocyanate and their growth was studied tyndallometrically. The concentration relations of halide and cyanide (or thiocyanate, respectively) components were changed over a large range. Some of these Ā»binaryĀ« systems showed fairly reproducible precipitation curves that indicated the formation of mixed crystals, while in other cases only turbidity areas could be obtained

Methorics of the Precipitation Processes. XIII. Study of the Precipitation of Sparingly Soluble Metal Fluorides*

The precipitation processes of slightly soluble fluorides were studied tyndallometrically. In the case of CaF2, MgF2 and LaF3 a crystallization maximum appeared in the accessible concentration region, while in the case of ThF4 two m axima appeared which seemed to be the concentration and the isoelectric ones. The solubility products of the fluorides depended on the sol concencentration

Investigation on Mixed Silver Halide, Silver Cyanide and Silver Thiocyanate Systems by means of Electron Microscope

    Get PDF
Mixed systems of silver halides, silver cyanide and silver thiocyanate were investigated by means of electron microscope. The shape of the particles formed depends greatly on the ratio of concentrations of the reacting components. Even quite small amount of one substance can change the particle shape of another one. The most characteristic electron micrographs are reproduced

Methorics of the Precipitation Processes. XIV. New Maximaon the Precipitation Curves of Mixed Silver Halides* Ā·

Series of mixed silver halide colloidal systems were prepared and their growth was studied tyndallometrically. The concentration relations of halide components were changed from system to system. Certain relations favour the precipitation of mixed silver halide crystals. The increase of temperature influences the precipitation, changing the rate of the growth of colloidal particles and their ionic solubility at the same time
