Quark-lepton complementarity model based predictions for with neutrino mass hierarchy
After the successful investigation and confirmation of non zero
by various experiments, we are standing at a square where
we still encounter a number of issues, which are to be settled. In this paper,
we have extended our recent work towards a precise prediction of the
mixing angle, taking into account the neutrino mass
hierarchy. We parameterize the non-trivial correlation between quark (CKM) and
lepton (PMNS) mixing matrices in quark-lepton complementarity (QLC) model as
, where is a diagonal phase matrix.
Monte Carlo simulations are used to estimate the texture of and compare
the results with the standard Tri-Bi-Maximal (TBM) and Bi-Maximal(BM)
structures of neutrino mixing matrix. We have predicted the value of
for normal and inverted neutrino mass hierarchies. The
value of obtained for two cases are about away
from each other, implying the better precision can give us a strong hint for

Texture One Zero Model Based on A4 Flavor Symmetry and its Implications to Neutrinoless Double Beta Decay
Neutrinos are perhaps the most elusive particles in our Universe. Neutrino physics could be counted as a benchmark for various new theories in elementary particle physics and also for the better understanding of the evolution of the Universe. To complete the neutrino picture, the missing information whether it is about their mass or their nature that the neutrinos are Majorana particles could be provided by the observation of a process called neutrinoless double beta (0νββ) decay. Neutrinoless double beta decay is a hypothesised nuclear process in which two neutrons simultaneously decay into protons with no neutrino emission. In this paper we proposed a neutrino mass model based on A4 symmetry group and studied its implications to 0νββ decay. We obtained a lower limit on |Mee| for inverted hierarchy and which can be probed in 0νββ experiments like SuperNEMO and KamLAND-Zen.
Behaviour of Sonic Waves in Dissociating Gases in the Presence of a Magnetic Field
This paper studies sonic waves in dissociating gases under the influence of a magnetic field. The conductivity of the medium has been taken to be finite since the temperature range considered is 1000 degree centigrade K to 7000 degree centigrade K. Since bodies travelling with hypersonic velocities meet with the phenomena of dissociation, this paper has a direct relevance to defence problems
International Labor Standards, Soft Regulation, and National Government Roles
[Excerpt] In this article, we briefly describe the different approaches to the regulation of international labor standards, and then argue for a new role for national governments based on soft rather than hard regulation approaches. We argue that this new role shows potential for significantly enhancing progress in international labor standards, since it enables governments to articulate a position without having to deal with the enforcement issues that hard regulation mandates. We justify this new role for governments based on the increasing use of soft regulation in the international arena. Of course, this approach is not without its own problems, but given that existing approaches have all provided imperfect solutions to the problem of improving labor standards globally, re-visiting the role of national governments is in our view, highly important
Energy fluxes in helical magnetohydrodynamics and dynamo action
Renormalized viscosity, renormalized resistivity, and various energy fluxes
are calculated for helical magnetohydrodynamics using perturbative field
theory. The calculation is to first-order in perturbation. Kinetic and magnetic
helicities do not affect the renormalized parameters, but they induce an
inverse cascade of magnetic energy. The sources for the the large-scale
magnetic field have been shown to be (1) energy flux from large-scale velocity
field to large-scale magnetic field arising due to nonhelical interactions, and
(2) inverse energy flux of magnetic energy caused by helical interactions.
Based on our flux results, a premitive model for galactic dynamo has been
constructed. Our calculations yields dynamo time-scale for a typical galaxy to
be of the order of years. Our field-theoretic calculations also reveal
that the flux of magnetic helicity is backward, consistent with the earlier

Simple Pendulum Revisited
We describe a 8085 microprocessor interface developed to make reliable time
period measurements. The time period of each oscillation of a simple pendulum
was measured using this interface. The variation of the time period with
increasing oscillation was studied for the simple harmonic motion (SHM) and for
large angle initial displacements (non-SHM). The results underlines the
importance of the precautions which the students are asked to take while

Premature Coronary Artery Disease and Familial Hypercholesterolemia: Need for Early Diagnosis and Cascade Screening in the Indian Population
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in India, accounting for 28% of mortality. The average age of onset of CVD is younger (below 55 years) among Indians than in other populations. This may be due to bad lifestyle, genetic factors, or both. Hypertension, smoking, diabetes, and physical inactivity have been identified as modifiable risk factors for heart disease. Hypercholesterolemia is the most common and treatable cause of heart disease. Genetic factors that lead to hypercholesterolemia have not been fully studied in India. Familial Hypercholesterolemia results from mutations in the LDL receptor, ApoB, PCSK9, and ApoE genes. There is an urgent need to screen subjects with premature CAD and their relatives in India for the presence of FH, identify the mutations that lead to high cholesterol, and carry out cascade screening in the at-risk relatives. Those harbouring mutations in the above genes can be treated to lower the cholesterol levels, prevent early CVD, and avoid death. A programme based on these lines has been initiated in Delhi
