AN ANALYSIS OF ILLOCUTIONARY ACTS PERFORMED IN DONALD TRUMP’S VICTORY SPEECH IN THE UNITED STATES ELECTION 2016
This study deals with an analysis of illocutionary act in Donald Trump’s utterances in his Victory Speech in the United States election 2016. The objectives of this study are to identify types of illocutionary act used by Donald Trump and to identify the most dominant type of illocutionary act. The data was taken from www.youtube.com.In this study, the researchers applieddocumentation technique in collecting the dataand the descriptive qualitative method was used to analyze the data. The researchers used Yule’s theory forthe types of illocutionary acts.The findings showed that there are five types of illocutionary acts found in this study including declarative (DC) occurs (2), representative (RP) occurs (46), expressive (EV) occurs (38), directive (DR) occurs (7), and commissive (CM) occurs (24).The researchers also find mostly performs in Donald Trump’s utterances in Victory Speech is, and informing his victory and his plan as the new representative act which is refers tostating, asserting, predicting, retelling president of United States to the audience. Keywords:speech acts, illocutionary acts, victory speech
PENGARUH PENDEKATAN DISCOVERY LEARNING TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN PENALARAN SISWA SMK
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adanya pengaruh dari penerapan pendekatan discvery learning dalam upaya meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematika siswa di kelas XI Rekayasa Perangkat Lunak B SMK Negeri di kota Cimahi pada materi program linear. Penelitian yang dilakukan ini berjenis penelitian tindakan kelas yang terdiri dari dua siklus yang berdasar kepada silabus pengajaran guru matematika pada kelas XI Rekayasa pelangkat Lunak B. Setiap siklus dilakukan berdasarkan tujuan yang ingin dicapai dalam pembelajaran. Siklus dalam penelitian ini meliputi prosedur sebagai berikut: (1) Perencanaan; (2) Pelakasanaan tindakan; (3) Observasi dan evaluasi; (4) Refleksi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan pada siswa kelas XI Rekayasa pelangkat Lunak B pada materi program linear bahwasanya penggunaan pendekatan discovery learning dapat meningkatkan kemampuan penalaran matematik, yaitu: (1) Respon dan hasil belajar yang ditunjukkan siswa pada siklus II tergolong sangat baik dan (2) Nilai tes kemampuan penalaran matematik siswa pada setiap siklus mengalami pengingkatan dengan baik, hingga pada siklus terakhir menunjukkan hasil 86%. Berdasarkan hasil tes terlihat bahwa hanya terdapat 5 siswa dari total 36 siswa yang memilki nilai dibawah 60. Pembelajaran dengan menerapkan pendekatan discovery learning sangat efektif untuk digunakan dalam proses pembelajaran
ANALISIS KEMAMPUAN BEPIKIR KRITIS MATEMATIK SISWA SMP DI KABUPATEN BANDUNG BARAT
The ability to think critically is one of the highest levels of ability. Developing critical thinking skills in students is still considered important to be improved in schools so that students are able and accustomed to facing various problems around it. This study aims to analyze the critical thinking skills of junior high school students who are in excellent classes and regular classes. This research was conducted in Bandung Barat. In this study students are given a test in the form of questions with critical thinking skills, the problem is used to compare between the superior class and ordinary class. Assessment of the problem using several factors of critical ability include 1) students can not understand the problem correctly, 2) students rush in doing the problem, 3) the students cannot choose the problem-solving strategy correctly and 4) the students work on the problem systematically. Then the matter of critical thinking skills of mathematics is analyzed using quasi-experimental research method to analyze students' critical thinking ability that influence learning result. This study shows the differences in critical thinking ability of junior high school students who are in excellent class and ordinary class. This study shows that superior classes are better in mathematical critical thinking ability than a regular class. The results of this study can add knowledge about critical thinking mathematics junior high school students who are in the class and ordinary class and used to facilitate for educational practitioners in the development of critical mathematical thinking skills
