A Brechtian theatre pedagogy for intercultural education research

The following article explores the potential of Bertolt Brecht's theatre pedagogy for intercultural education research. It is argued that Brecht's pedagogical views on theatre connect to those interculturalists who prioritise the embodied dimensions of intercultural encounters over a competence-driven orientation. Both share a love for aesthetic experimentation as the basis for learning and critical engagement with a complex world. The article outlines how a Brechtian theatre pedagogy was enacted as part of four drama-based research workshops, which were designed to explore international students’ intercultural ‘strangeness’ experiences. It is described how a participant account of an intercultural encounter was turned into a Brechtian playscript by the author and then performed by participants. The analysis is based on the author's as well as the performers’ reflections on the scripting process and their performance experiences. It is argued that a Brechtian pedagogy can lead to collective learning experiences, critical reflection and an embodied understanding of intercultural experience in research. The data produced by a Brechtian research pedagogy is considered ‘slippery’ (aesthetic) data. ENERGY DEPOSITION BY FAST NEUTRONS. II. YIELD OF THE FRICKE DOSIMETER AT 14.6 Mev

A measurement of the yield of the aerated, ferrous sulfate-sulfuric acid (Fricke) dosimeter for 14.6-Mev neutrons gave a value of GF /sub Fe/sup +5/= 11.5 plus or minus 1.8. G/sub Fe/ number of ferric ions produced per 100 ev deposited. The determination combined an analysis of the energy deposit by scattering and charged particle reactions with a determination of the neutron flux by two independent means: a long counter'' method and an activation technique. The r sult is in reasonable agreement with a prediction for G/sub Fe// sup plus or minus 5/ based on measured yields of the dosimeter to irradiations by monoenergetic charged particles. (auth

Charakterystyka litologiczna oraz analiza petrofizyczna sylurskich piaskowców Acacus w basenie Ghadames w Tunezji

Przedmiotem badań były sylurskie piaskowce Acacus o zróżnicowanych własnościach petrofizycznych, wynikających ze zmiennych warunków sedymentacji. Zmienne zailenie oraz wysoko zmineralizowana woda złożowa spowodowały zaniżenie oporności piaskowców. Dodatkowo, obecność minerałów bogatych w żelazo spowodowała, że standardowa interpretacja profilowań geofizyki otworowej w celu wyznaczenia porowatości była nieefektywna. Wykonano podział piaskowców na 5 typów litologiczno-strukturalnych, oparty na cechach rozpoznanych w wyniku badań laboratoryjnych na próbkach piaskowców. Porowatość i przepuszczalność dla wydzielonych typów piaskowców okazały się znacznie lepiej skorelowane w porównaniu do całej grupy danych. Podział zastosowano podczas interpretacji profilowań geofizyki otworowej
