Background: Diabetic wound is a major socioeconomic debilitating problem in this society. Various treatment options are available but still it requires better treatment option. In diabetes mellitus the oxygenation to the tissues is reduced. In this study effects of low level laser therapy were compared with topical application of Streptococcus thermophilus on diabetic wounds that induces formation of new blood vessel and free radical scavenging system, a comparative study to get better treatment option for diabetic wounds. Methods: 18 male rats were selected and divided randomly into three groups. Diabetes was induced in all the rats by using the Alloxan monohydrate at a dose of 120mg/kg of the body weight. Group A was treated with normal saline, group B was treated with low level laser therapy and group C was treated with Streptococcus thermophilus topically. Skin tissues were collected on day three and seven, slides were prepared for microscopic examination to observe the new blood vessels formation. Results: Mean number of new blood vessel formation was observed in group B compared with group A and C. Significant vasculogenesis was seen in group B when treated with Low level laser therapy. Conclusions: In the group of low level laser therapy new blood vessel formation was seen with better wound healing. It means LLLT provides better oxygenation to the tissues by generation of new blood vessels compared with Streptococcus thermophilus and normal saline

EDM of Ti6Al4V under nano graphene mixed dielectric: A detailed roughness analysis

Surface finish has an essential role in superior performance of machined products which becomes crucial for sophisticated applications like invasive biomedical implants and aerospace components. Ti6Al4V is popular in these applications due to its exceptional characteristics of weight-to-strength ratio. However, Ti6Al4V is a difficult-to-cut material, therefore, non-traditional cutting techniques especially, Electric Discharge Machining (EDM) are widely adopted for Ti6Al4V cutting. The engagement of nano powders are used to upsurge the cutting rate and surface quality. Among the different powders a novel nano-powder additive i.e. graphene has not been tested in EDM of Ti6Al4V. Therefore, the potential of nano-graphene is comprehensively investigated herein for roughness perspective in EDM of Ti-alloy. The experimental design is based on Taguchi L18 orthogonal framework which includes six EDM parameters. The experimental findings are thoroughly discussed with statistical tests and physical evidence. The surface quality achieved with an aluminum electrode was found best amongst its competitors. Whereas, the worst surface asperities were noticed when brass electrode was used under graphene mixed dielectric. Moreover, it is conceived that the positive tool polarity provides lower roughness for all types of electrodes. Furthermore, optimal settings have been developed that warrant a reduction of 61.4 in the machined specimen's roughness compared to the average roughness value recorded during the experimentation

Progressing towards sustainable machining of steels : a detailed review

Machining operations are very common for the production of auto parts, i.e., connecting rods, crankshafts, etc. In machining, the use of cutting oil is very necessary, but it leads to higher machining costs and environmental problems. About 17% of the cost of any product is associated with cutting fluid, and about 80% of skin diseases are due to mist and fumes generated by cutting oils. Environmental legislation and operators’ safety demand the minimal use of cutting fluid and proper disposal of used cutting oil. The disposal cost is huge, about two times higher than the machining cost. To improve occupational health and safety and the reduction of product costs, companies are moving towards sustainable manufacturing. Therefore, this review article emphasizes the sustainable machining aspects of steel by employing techniques that require the minimal use of cutting oils, i.e., minimum quantity lubrication, and other efficient techniques like cryogenic cooling, dry cutting, solid lubricants, air/vapor/gas cooling, and cryogenic treatment. Cryogenic treatment on tools and the use of vegetable oils or biodegradable oils instead of mineral oils are used as primary techniques to enhance the overall part quality, which leads to longer tool life with no negative impacts on the environment. To further help the manufacturing community in progressing towards industry 4.0 and obtaining net-zero emissions, in this paper, we present a comprehensive review of the recent, state of the art sustainable techniques used for machining steel materials/components by which the industry can massively improve their product quality and production

In present work Four new complexes of 2-hydroxy-5-methylbenzaldehyde -N-(2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-3H-indol-3-ylidene)hydrazine have been synthesized with some transition metals, i.e. Ni+2, Cu+2 , Co+2 and Zn+2 in non-aqueous medium. Complexes were characterized by magnetic moment, conductance, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and spectroscopic investigations including infrared, ultraviolet-visible and atomic absorption spectroscopy. To support experimental characterization, quantum mechanical and molecular mechanical (QM/MM) calculations were performed. Experimental results with the support of QM and MM computations highlighted the proposition about the ligand to be bound to the metal ions in a tridentate manner through its phenolic oxygen, azomethine nitrogen and carbonyl group (C=O). On the basis of experimental and computational results, tetrahedral geometry is proposed for Cu+2 complex and distorted tetrahedral geometry is proposed for Zn+2 complex while octahedral geometries are proposed for Co+2 and Ni+2 complexes. For all compounds, anti-cyanobacterial (algicidal) activity was evaluated against three marine cyanobacteria i.e. Pseudoanabaena lonchoides, Lyngbya contorta, and Spirulina major. It was found that the metal complexes are more potent anti-cyanobacterial agents than the ligand

Background: Hypertension (HTN) in pregnancy is the second most basic reason for maternal death and cause obstetric complications in 5-10% of all pregnancies. HTN directly affects the blood flow of uterine artery.  Doppler screening test is a valuable method to do safe and non-invasive detection and has high reliability in the detection of uterine artery blood flow characteristics. Objective: The purpose of the present study is to find association between predictive value of uterine artery pulsatility index in normal and hypertensive pregnancy during third trimester. Methods: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted with the sample size of 138 patients by selecting the convenient sampling from Ghurki Trust Teaching Hospital, Lahore. The pulsatility index of uterine artery of all the women with normal singleton pregnancy and hypertensive during third trimester of pregnancy were obtained using Doppler ultrasound. Data was analyzed with the help of Anova .The results were derived by mean, frequency and standard deviation . Results: The significance between groups was 0.002. The mean values of right and left uterine artery pulsatility index of 36 hypertensive patients were 1.40 and 1.41 and standard deviation 0.4 and 0.5 respectively whereas the mean values of right and left uterine artery pulsatility index of 102 normal patients were 0.739 and 0.77 and standard deviation 0.23 and 0.5 respectively Conclusion: Our study concluded that there was an association between uterine atery pulsatility index and hypertension during pregnancy. The uterine artery pulsatiltiy index has increased with hypertension in third trimester of pregnancy.
