Strengthening the Campus Leadership Team through Effective Principal and Counselor Relationships: Implications for Training
Campuses with successful leadership teams have a better opportunity to meet the ever-increasing and complex needs of the students they serve (Crowther, Kaagan, Ferguson, & Hann, 2002). These successful campuses are strengthened when they include strong principals and counseling teams with shared mutual trust and understanding that permeates the school climate (DeVoss & Andrews, 2006). A review of the literature revealed a paucity of studies examining the nature of successful principal-counselor relations and the impact of this relationship on student success, effective campus leadership teams, and an effective school climate that promotes learning. Meaningful dialogue and discussion of this critical professional relationship also were found lacking in the major counseling and educational leadership professional journals
Problems encountered in the development of an airport
The progress of a nation and. its transportation facilities have always advanced hand in hand.
Just as it has always beerthe Civil Engineer\u27s problem to develop facilities for other means of transportation, such as roads, harbors, and. railroad terminals, so is it his problem today to build airports.
In presenting the problems encountered in the development of an airport, the writer has considered the airport\u27s place in city and regional planning, as well as the part it plays in air transportation.

Calculation of the hyperfine structure of the superheavy elements Z=119 and Z=120+
The hyperfine structure constants of the lowest and states of
superheavy elements Z=119 and Z= 120 are calculated using {\em ab initio}
approach. Core polarization and dominating correlation effects are included to
all orders. Breit and quantum electrodynamic effects are also considered.
Similar calculations for Cs, Fr, Ba and Ra are used to control the
accuracy. The dependence of the hyperfine structure constants on nuclear radius

LISA Science Results in the Presence of Data Disturbances
Each spacecraft in the Laser Interferometer Space Antenna houses a proof mass
which follows a geodesic through spacetime. Disturbances which change the proof
mass position, momentum, and/or acceleration will appear in the LISA data
stream as additive quadratic functions. These data disturbances inhibit signal
extraction and must be removed. In this paper we discuss the identification and
fitting of monochromatic signals in the data set in the presence of data
disturbances. We also present a preliminary analysis of the extent of science
result limitations with respect to the frequency of data disturbances
The Mundelein Encounter: A Catholic-Evangelical Model of Ecumenism
In the fall of 2013, a new initiative was undertaken in Chicago for Christian unity at âgrass-rootsâ level. This initiative, which eventually became known as the Catholic-Evangelical Conversation (CEC), had its origin in the relationships of several individuals associated in different ways with the evangelical Lausanne Movement. The Lausanne vision, expressed in The Cape Town Commitment (https://www.lausanne.org/content/ctc/ctcommitment), animated the early discussions of John Armstrong, Norberto Saracco, and Douglas Birdsall, who shared their vision with Thomas A. Baima and Robert Barron. Individuals associated with the Lausanne Movement formed the early core of the evangelicals who became involved with the CEC. A second formative element of this conversation came from the vision of Pope Francis, who shares a growing need for unity for the sake of Christâs mission. Individuals associated with the Archdiocese of Buenos Aries and Cardinal Bergoglio were early collaborators with the CEC. Both of these visions shape the direction of the CEC into the future
Introduction
What are the strategies, modalities and aspirations of island-based, stateless nationalist and regionalist parties in the twenty-first century? Political independence is now easier to achieve, even by the smallest of territories; yet, it is not so likely to be pursued with any vigour by the world's various persisting sub-national (and mainly island) jurisdictions. Theirs is a pursuit of different expressions of sub-national autonomy, stopping short of independence. And yet, a number of independence referenda are scheduled, including one looming in Scotland in autumn 2014
Cooled propylene glycol as a pragmatic choice for preservation of DNA from remote field-collected Diptera for next-generation sequence analysis
Next-generation sequencing (NGS)-based methods can now be applied to large population-scale studies, but this demands very high-quality DNA. For specimens collected from remote field locations, DNA degradation can be a problem, requiring logistically challenging preservation techniques. Simpler preservation techniques are therefore required. Prior to collection of exotic fruit fly (Tephritidae) species, a number of readily available preservatives with storage at either 4°C or room temperature were trialed here to determine the DNA quality for three locally available Diptera species,Fannia canicularis(L.),Musca domesticaL., and Lucilia sericataMeigen. Considerable variation was observed between the different preservatives, species, and temperatures, but several preservatives at 4°C were favored. Chilled propylene glycol was subsequently used for the storage and carriage of Australian field-collectedBactrocera fruit fly specimens to New Zealand. When processed up to 20âd later, DNA fragments of âŒ10-20âkb were obtained for successful genotyping by sequencing analysis. This protocol is therefore recommended as a logistically simple and safe approach for distant collection of dipteran samples for NGS population genomic studies
Property-Based Testing - The ProTest Project
The ProTest project is an FP7 STREP on property based testing. The purpose of the project is to develop software engineering approaches to improve reliability of service-oriented networks; support fault-finding and diagnosis based on specified properties of the system. And to do so we will build automated tools that will generate and run tests, monitor execution at run-time, and log events for analysis.
The Erlang / Open Telecom Platform has been chosen as our initial implementation vehicle due to its robustness and reliability within the telecoms sector. It is noted for its success in the ATM telecoms switches by Ericsson, one of the project partners, as well as for multiple other uses such as in facebook, yahoo etc. In this paper we provide an overview of the project goals, as well as detailing initial progress in developing property based testing techniques and tools for the concurrent functional programming language Erlang
Algebraic Principles for Rely-Guarantee Style Concurrency Verification Tools
We provide simple equational principles for deriving rely-guarantee-style
inference rules and refinement laws based on idempotent semirings. We link the
algebraic layer with concrete models of programs based on languages and
execution traces. We have implemented the approach in Isabelle/HOL as a
lightweight concurrency verification tool that supports reasoning about the
control and data flow of concurrent programs with shared variables at different
levels of abstraction. This is illustrated on two simple verification examples
Telescopic actions
A group action H on X is called "telescopic" if for any finitely presented
group G, there exists a subgroup H' in H such that G is isomorphic to the
fundamental group of X/H'.
We construct examples of telescopic actions on some CAT[-1] spaces, in
particular on 3 and 4-dimensional hyperbolic spaces. As applications we give
new proofs of the following statements:
(1) Aitchison's theorem: Every finitely presented group G can appear as the
fundamental group of M/J, where M is a compact 3-manifold and J is an
involution which has only isolated fixed points;
(2) Taubes' theorem: Every finitely presented group G can appear as the
