Asymptotic behaviour for a diffusion equation governed by nonlocal interactions.
In this paper we study the asymptotic behaviour of a nonlocal nonlinear
parabolic equation governed by a parameter. After giving the existence of
unique branch of solutions composed by stable solutions in stationary case, we
gives for the parabolic problem estimates of solution based on
using the Moser iterations and existence of global attractor. We finish our
study by the issue of asymptotic behaviour in some cases when
Extension of Solutions to Holomorphic Partial Differential Equations
Given a strictly pseudoconvex domain G and a linear partial differential
operator P with holomorphic coefficients, we derive sufficient conditions for
the existence of a solution to Pu = 0 which is holomorphic in G near a point p
in the boundary or G, but cannot be extended holomorphically across p.Comment: 8 pages, no figures, LaTeX2e. Mostly work from Armel's thesi
Biasing simple choices by manipulating relative visual attention
Several decision-making models predict that it should be possible to affect real binary choices by manipulating the relative amount of visual attention that decision-makers pay to the two alternatives. We present the results of three behavioral experiments testing this prediction. Visual attention is controlled by manipulating the amount of time subjects fixate on the two items. The manipulation has a differential impact on appetitive and aversive items. Appetitive items are 6 to 11% more likely to be chosen in the long fixation condition. In contrast, aversive items are 7% less likely to be chosen in the long fixation condition. The effect is present for primary goods, such as foods, and for higher-order durable goods, such as posters
BEST: a Binary Executable Slicing Tool
We describe the implementation of BEST, a tool for slicing binary code. We aim to integrate this tool in a WCET estimation framework based on model checking. In this approach, program slicing is used to abstract the program model in order to reduce the state space of the system. In this article, we also report on the results of an evaluation of the efficiency of the abstraction technique
Knowledge Management in Higher Education: Effectiveness, Success factors, and Organisational Performance
In today business environment, Higher education institutions are facing a common challenge in the wake of rapid changes due to substantial drops in public funding for public colleges and universities, a larger number of calls for transparency, rapid expansion of the global business. To survive, organizations of higher education must improve their performance continually. Researchers reported that knowledge and effectively managing knowledge can help HEIs improve their performance by solving many of these problems and acquire and sustain competitive advantage. It is beneficial to explore the factors that impact the effective implementation of knowledge management within higher education institutions. These factors are organizational culture, and leadership styles. Additionally, it is essential to investigate the leadership style that best supports effective implementation of knowledge management.
This study sought to examine the relationship between organizational culture (mission, adaptability, involvement, consistency), leadership styles (transformational and transactional), knowledge management effectiveness, and organizational performance. The study also analyzed the mediating role of organizational culture on the relationship between leadership styles and knowledge management effectiveness.
Based on existing literature, eight hypotheses and a conceptual model were developed regarding the relationships of the five constructs: organizational culture, transformational and transformational leadership, knowledge management effectiveness and organizational performance. All constructs are measured by multi-items scales. For this study, organizational performance and knowledge management effectiveness were taken as dependents variables. Leadership styles of transformational and transactional and organizational culture were taken as independent variables. Organizational culture (mission, consistency, adaptability, and involvement) served as mediator variable.
A questionnaire was used to collect data; this questionnaire was administered to 251 faculty and administrative leaders employed at 20 universities and colleges across the United States of America. Only 136 were entirely completed and deemed useful for the study. Structural equation modeling and Confirmatory Factor Analysis within SEM were adopted for data analysis. Results were presented using frequency distribution tables and graphs.
Key findings suggested that organizational culture and transformational leadership impacted knowledge management effectiveness. But transactional leadership did not.
Consequently, knowledge management effectiveness impacted organizational performance. While organizational culture mediated the effects of transformational leadership on knowledge management effectiveness, no mediating effect of organizational culture was found on the effect of transactional leadership on knowledge management effectiveness. Organizational culture has the largest positive impact on knowledge management effectiveness.
These results may inform the successful implementation of KM practices, which in term improve the performance of higher educational institutions across the United States of America
Des firmes multinationales : un survol de la littérature microéconomique
This paper surveys the microeconomic literature on multinational enterprises. It analyses the costs and the benefits for the firms of foreign direct investment. Then it studies how the firms invest abroad and the impact of some economic policies on foreign direct investment.
Understanding the African Continental Free Trade Area: Beyond âSingle Marketâ to âAfricaâs Rejuvenationâ Analysis
While global trends continue to move from integration towards heightened protectionism, and retaliatory trade measures, African countries improved their intra-regional trade levels and deepened their regional integration by launching the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The AfCFTA seeks to deepen Africaâs market integration at regional and continental levels; smash down tariff barriers within Africa; boost intra-Africa trade; promote regional and continental value chains; and hopefully deliver Africaâs rejuvenation. However, Africa as a continent is facing many challenges, especially its notions and concepts of development, plus the complications caused by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, questions are being aroused on whether African policy makers are prepared enough to overcome the AfCFTA related challenges. This article examines the mechanisms needed to fully implement the recently signed continental free trade area deal, its impact on Africaâs Regional Economic Communities (RECs), and whatâs in it for Africaâs major economic partners. In this article, the author will also point out existing daunting challenges and give a series of policy recommendations
Following McClendonâs (1970) framework of biography as theology, this paper proposes the memory of the slavery of Blacks as possible capital of redemption. The argument is based on the life story of Saint Josephine Bakhita, a former African slave, who urged at the end of her life to loosen the heavy chains of slavery. In a hagiographical perspective, three steps structure this claim : the narrative of slavery, its memory, and its retrieval, each time shaped by Bakhitaâs theology of slavery set as paradigm. Consequently, the idea of possible capital of redemption followed the same patterns : the subversion of the Hegelian discourse by a new narrative Bakhita-based, the historical and epistemological rupture as alternative to the misleading memory of slavery, and the prophetic rebellion by the possibility to say no
