Catalogo delle piante vascolari del Monte Baro

La Florula del Monte Baro, sino dalle prime volte che io ebbi occasione di visitare il suo campo, parvomi così ricca da meritare un catalogo speciale. Nè in seguito da tale parere valse a distogliermi il considorare che le suo specie piu notevoli, da gran tempo, in parte già erano state indicate dal Comolli (1), dal Parlatore (2), dall'Artaria (3); imperciocchè le indicazioni di questi autori, mentre costitniscono altrettante preziose contribuzioni alla conoscenza della Florula di quel monte, come è naturale, non possono darne che una rappresentazione affatto insufficiente. Il catalogo da me divisato è ora compiuto e più non mi rimane che di presentario ai giovani amici dell'amabile scienza, ciò che mi induco a fare con la speram:a che valga a facilitare la determinazione delle specie di quella località, così meritevole di essere scelta a meta eli botaniche escursioni

Closure of an iatrogenic tracheo-esophageal fistula with bronchoscopic gluing in a mechanically ventilated adult patient

Management of acquired nonmalignant tracheo-esophageal fistula (TEF) in mechanically ventilated patients is controversial. Surgical correction is often contraindicated because the high operative risk and spontaneous closure is unlikely due to the positive pressure ventilation. We present a case of successful closure of an iatrogenic TEF in a mechanically ventilated patient with bronchoscopic application of fibrin glue. The technique may be proposed in high-risk patients as either an alternative to surgery or as a first-line attempt before surgical correction

Fetal adenocarcinoma of the lung in a 25-year-old woman

AbstractWe report the case of a 25-year-old woman with a chance detection at x-ray of a well-defined mass in the right upper lobe during a medical examination. The patient suffered from a modest flu syndrome, with cough and fever. She was a current smoker. CT scan showed a homogeneous well-defined perihilar mass without calcifications, located in the right upper lobe and fully surrounded by aerated parenchyma. A right upper lobectomy with mediastinal lymph node sampling was performed. A pathologic diagnosis of well-differentiated fetal adenocarcinoma of the lung was made and staged as T2N0. Few cases of this type of malignancy have been reported in literature
