Immunohistochemical analysis of an ectopic endometriosis in the uterine round ligament

A rare case of the inguinal endometriosis was reported with immunohistochemical analysis. A 28-year-old woman had a thumb-sized tumor in the right groin for two years with a gradual increase in size and pain. An operation revealed an elastic hard tumor with an unclear margin and adhesion to the uterine round ligament. The histology showed irregular proliferation of the endometrial glands and stroma. The glandular epithelium stained weakly positive against CD125 antibody and the stromal matrix stained strongly positive against CD10 antibody. The nucleus in both the epithelial and stromal cells stained strongly positive against progesterone and estrogen receptor antibodies, and the cytoplasm in both types of cells stained moderately positive against COX-2 (cyclooxygenase-2) antibody. In conclusion, the combination of estrogen or progesterone receptor antibody for the nucleus and CD10 or COX-2 antibody for the cytoplasm could enhance the accuracy of diagnosis for ectopic endometriosis

ABSTRACT With the increasing development of oil and gas fields in deepwater or ultra-deepwater with deep well depth, the development of high strength seamless pipe has become necessary. This paper describes a metallurgical design of seamless pipe with high strength reaching X80-X100 grade (minimum yield strength, 552 MPa -689 MPa) manufactured by steel containing very low carbon and with a microstructure of uniform bainite. The effect of microstructure of quenched and tempered (QT) steel on strength and toughness is investigated in laboratory. Uniform bainitic structure without coarse martensiteaustenite constituent (M-A) is obtained by lowering bainite transformation temperature during quenching process by controlling the alloying elements. Moreover the structure is very effective in obtaining good toughness for tempered steel even with the high strength X100 grade. Sufficiently low hardness and good toughness in heat affected zone (HAZ) are confirmed by welding tests. The trial production of developed steel is conducted by applying inline QT process in medium-size seamless mill according to an alloying design obtained in laboratory tests. The seamless pipes of the trial production achieve grades X80 to X100 by changing tempering temperature. Some data of mechanical properties of the produced pipes is introduced

Affinity for α-tocopherol transfer protein as a determinant of the biological activities of vitamin E analogs

Abstractα-Tocopherol transfer protein (αTTP), a product of the gene which causes familial isolated vitamin E deficiency, plays an important role in determining the plasma vitamin E level. We examined the structural characteristics of vitamin E analogs required for recognition by αTTP. Ligand specificity was assessed by evaluating the competition of non-labeled vitamin E analogs and α-[3H]tocopherol for transfer between membranes in vitro. Relative affinities (RRR-α-tocopherol=100%) calculated from the degree of competition were as follows: β-tocopherol, 38%; γ-tocopherol, 9%; δ-tocopherol, 2%; α-tocopherol acetate, 2%; α-tocopherol quinone, 2%; SRR-α-tocopherol, 11%; α-tocotrienol, 12%; trolox, 9%. Interestingly, there was a linear relationship between the relative affinity and the known biological activity obtained from the rat resorption-gestation assay. From these observations, we conclude that the affinity of vitamin E analogs for αTTP is one of the critical determinants of their biological activity

Correlation of diffusion coefficients for naphthalene and dimethylnaphthalene isomers in supercritical carbon dioxide

金沢大学大学院自然科学研究科生産プロセスAn equation proposed by Darken, including the thermodynamic factor and tracer diffusion coefficients of solvent and solute, was adopted to correlate the diffusion coefficients for naphthalene and dimethylnaphthalene (DMN) isomers in supercritical carbon dioxide and the correlated results were compared with the experimental data. IML equation of state with mixing rules and combining rules containing two adjustable interaction parameters were used for calculation of the thermodynamic factor. By using the interaction parameters adjusted to the solubility data, the concentration dependence of diffusion coefficients and their anomaly near the critical point of carbon dioxide can be quantitatively represented. In order to improve the reliability of experimental results, some re-measured diffusion coefficient data for naphthalene, 2,6- and 2,7-DMN at 308.2 K, and new data for naphthalene at 318.2 K and for 2,3-DMN at 308.2 K are presented

金沢大学大学院自然科学研究科生産プロセスThe concentration dependence of diffusion coefficients for naphthalene in supercritical carbon dioxide at 308.2K was measured by a pseudo steady-state solid dissolution method. The experimental diffusion coefficients were compared with the calculated results by the Darken equation including a thermodynamic factor and tracer diffusion coefficients of supercritical carbon dioxide and naphthalene. The thermodynamic factor in the Darken equation was determined by using several cubic equations of state. The calculated results by the Darken equation represent the concentration dependence of the experimental diffusion coefficients. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved
