The Relevance Of United States-Thailand Military Cooperation In 2010-2020

The United States and Thailand have maintained an intensive military cooperation since the Cold War. However, the current international landscape has evolved, with the Cold War receding into history, yet the military collaboration between the two nations continues to strengthen. This research scrutinizes the relevance of the partnership between the United States and Thailand, particularly during the period of 2010-2020. Drawing upon the theoretical framework of foreign policy and military cooperation, the study reveals that the consistency of military collaboration between the two nations is driven by the imperative interests of the United States to uphold its engagement in the Southeast Asian region, particularly considering the perceived threat posed by the Rise of China

Strategi Diplomasi Pertahanan Maritim Dalam Mengatasi Praktik Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing Perairan Indonesia

Abstrak Praktik Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing ditemukan di semua jenis dan dimensi perikanan, baik di laut lepas maupun di wilayah yurisdiksi nasional. Praktik IUU Fishing dapat dikaitkan dengan kejahatan di sepanjang rantai perikanan, sehingga perlu diketahui strategi diplomasi maritim Indonesia dalam negeri dan dalam RPOA-IUU. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian kualitatif, dengan desain penelitian studi kasus. Pembangunan kekuatan diplomasi pertahanan maritim dalam negeri dilakukan dengan membentuk Satgas 115, Forum Penanganan Tindak Pidana Perikanan dan Tim Integrasi Data Tindak Pidana Kelautan dan Perikanan. Strategi diplomasi maritim Indonesia dalam RPOA-IUU untuk menyelesaikan masalah Illegal, Unreported and Unregulated (IUU) Fishing di Indonesia dilakukan dengan membesarkan RPOA-IUU menjadi kerjasama regional strategis, dan melaksanakan core element yang ada di dalam RPOA-IUU secara maksimal. Indonesia di dalam kanal-kanal diskusi MCS Working Group juga terus aktif untuk membentuk kerjasama bilateral dan regional untuk memperkuat upaya-upaya pemberantasan IUU Fishing. Diplomasi Pertahanan Malaysia di Laut China Selatan: Konsep dan Praktek

The concept of defense diplomacy does not have a universally recognized definition; therefore, each country tends to have its definition, which is then included in its defense white paper. The concept of diplomacy for Malaysia itself is defined as creating stable international relations with other countries. Malaysia has a defense diplomacy strategy known as quiet diplomacy. One of the problems that threaten Malaysia's maritime economy and sovereignty that continues to this day is the South China Sea conflict. This conflict occurred because of a unilateral claim made by the Chinese government with theissuance of a map that later contained a nine-dash line. In dealing with this problem,Malaysia then implemented the concept of defense diplomacy in the multilateral realm,namely through official forums, namely the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting (ADMM) and the ASEAN Defense Ministers' Meeting Plus (ADMM Plus). This report was prepared using a descriptive-narrative method obtained through interviews with resource persons and a literature study. The purpose of this report is to serve as a theoretical reference for the concepts and practices of Malaysian defense diplomacy
