Tendon-sparing Extraocular Muscle Enlargement and Cranial Nerve Hypertrophy in Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuropathy

    No full text
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) is an acquired, immune-mediated sensorimotor polyneuropathy. It is characterized by symmetric, progressive proximal and distal peripheral muscle weakness with sensory involvement. Previously noted ophthalmic manifestations include ophthalmoplegia, proptosis, papilledema, optic neuropathy, and pupillary abnormalities. Diagnosis is based upon clinical exam, electromyogram (EMG), and supportive criteria, such as lumbar puncture or MRI as per the European Federation of Neurological Societies and the Peripheral Nerve Society (EFNS/PNS)
