This study aimed to determine the Increased Ability to Compare the Content of Various Reviews to Find the Systematics of a Review Using the Problem Based Learning Model. The population in this study were all students of class XI at SMK Negeri 1 Mamuju. The data consisted of data on student learning outcomes through learning achievement tests in each cycle and data on student activities in learning based on observations made. Student learning outcomes test data were analyzed using the mean while student learning activity data were analyzed using descriptive analysis. The results showed that the ability to compare the contents of various reviews to find the systematics of a reviewer increased in each cycle. Based on data on pre-cycle, there is 1 student who is in the complete category with a score of 75 and above with a percentage of 4%, cycle I 15 students who are in the complete category with a percentage of 60%, cycle II 18 students who are in the complete category with a percentage of 72% and cycle III 25 students in the complete category with a percentage of 100%. Based on the results of the data analysis, it was concluded that the use of the Problem Based Learning model could improve the ability to compare the contents of various reviews to find the systematics of class XI student reviews at SMK Negeri 1 Mamuju

ABSTRACT                              Purpose                 Aim of the study was to determine the standards of emotional intelligence among students of Rawalpindi Medical University, Rawalpindi.                            Method                 A cross-sectional study, employing the use of a self-made online questionnaire, was carried out among the students of Rawalpindi Medical University’s 1st year to final year MBBS. Convenience sampling was used to collect data, which was subsequently entered into Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS) version.25 for analysis. Results                   The average value of emotional intelligence was calculated to be 54.34% ±13.89 SD; mean values for emotional awareness, emotional management and social awareness were found to be 65.15% ±12.6 SD, 51.12% ±12.12 SD and 48.4% ±17.39 SD respectively.                 Conclusion                             The emotional intelligence of the students amidst the Corona virus pandemic had a noticeably lower value compared to the values determined previously in other studies in the absence of such pandemic. This result points towards the role of pandemic-induced stress in the apparent decrease of emotional intelligence

Abstract OBJECTIVE: To compare the outcomes of superior septal approach and left atrial approach for mitral valve replacement. METHODS: This retrospective cohort study was conducted at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi, and comprised records of patients who had undergone isolated mitral valve replacement from May 2003 to April 2012. Cases were reviewed for the outcomes [primary: loss of normal sinus rhythm; secondary: complications, residual defect and mortality]. Patients with prior history of dysrhythmia, low ejection fraction (\u3c30%), emergency/redo mitral valve replacement and concomitant coronary artery bypass grafting were excluded. SPSS 19 was used for data analysis. RESULTS: Of the 78 patients, 52(66.67%) were of superior septal approach and 26(33.33%) of left atrial approach. Both groups were comparable for baseline variables except cardiopulmonary bypass and cross-clamp times, which were significantly shorter in the superior septal approach group than the left septal approach group (p\u3c0.05). No residual atrial septal defect was found in any approach. Although loss of normal sinus rhythm was observed more frequent in superior septal approach 25(48%) compared to left septal approach 10(38.4%), but the difference was statistically insignificant (p=0.28). Age was the only significant variable affecting loss of normal sinus rhythm after adjusting for approaches. The difference of post-operative complications was also statistically insignificant between superior 9(17.3%) and left septal approach 4(15.38%) (p=1.0)]. CONCLUSIONS: The operative durations were significantly higher in left atrial approach compared to superior septal approach

Background: Excessive Internet use may induce depression, influence relationships, and decrease academic performance. There is scarce information about Internet addiction in Pakistan. This study aimed to determine prevalence of Internet addiction and its relationship with depression and academic performance. Methods: A study based on a self-administered survey was carried out at a medical school in Peshawar, Pakistan. Participants were medical students (MBBS) and a non-randomized convenience sampling technique was utilized for data collection. We collected demographic information, last professional exam score, Internet addiction, and depression scores using the Young’s Internet Addiction Test (YIAT) and the Beck’s Depression Inventory (BDI), respectively. The analysis included binomial 95% confidence intervals (95% CI) estimations and linear and logistic regressions to assess variables relations. Results: We analyzed responses from 231 participants (380 students approached and 250 responded: response rate=65.79%, 19 excluded), 64.07% were male and the age average was 21±2 years. Profound and slight addiction to the Internet was found in 9.09% (95%CI=5.71-13.56) and 41.99% (95%CI=35.55-48.64) of students, respectively. Frequency of depression (mild-severe) was 59.74% (95%CI=53.11-66.12). Levels of Internet addiction and depression were found associated after adjusting by sex and age (?=0.27, R2=0.03, p-value=0.009). Internet addiction (OR=0.54, 95%CI=0.2-1.49, p-value=0.23) and depression (OR=0.62, 95%CI=0.36-1.09, p-value=0.10) were not significantly associated with low grades after adjusting by sex and age. Conclusion: More than half of the students are having excessive Internet usage which could result in despondency and academic performance deterioration. Internet addiction should be considered an emerging challenge and appropriate mitigation measures should be taken opportunely
