Costs of Stream Maintenance Works in the Poznań District
Water reclamation works, especially those related to stream maintenance, are necessary wherever their lack may cause a risk to the natural environment, as well as human life and property. This paper presents the assessment of the maintenance costs on natural and regulated streams in the years 2010-2016 in the Poznań district. In the analysed years, the costs for works on streams and water-drainage constructions amounted to an average of 1,214,800 PLN per year, which in terms of a 1km stream is approximately 3,575 PLN/km per year. Higher maintenance costs occurred on the regulated streams, where the average cost of a 1 km stream was approximately 7,042 PLN. Moreover, high costs were noted in the works on unregulated streams, where the average cost was approximately 8,948 PLN. The amount of public funding for the maintenance and current operation was quite insufficient, as it covered only 4.2% of the annual average demand. The positive trend is nearly a 6-fold increase in funds for current maintenance compared to the year 2010, when a flood occurred. The results of the conducted analyses indicate the cognitive need and purpose, as well as the economic importance, to establish water reclamation monitoring, as well as develop the existing IT system for recording water reclamation works and water management in agriculture
Demarcation Technique and Geometric Analysis of Village Boundaries Resulting from Delineation of Land Areas (ujazd) in the Middle Ages in the Wielkopolska Region (Poland)
The paper presents the genesis of village borders’ shape formed in the Middle Ages and presents rules according to which demarcations were made. The hypothesis that the borders formed in the Middle Ages had a shape similar to a circle or segment of a circle was accepted. This hypothesis was confirmed by geometric analysis of borders from that period. Geometric elements of the boundaries were calculated: types of arcs, their radii, lengths and central angles. The center of the newly granted area was analyzed, as this location played a major role in the delineation of the boundary. Accuracy of measurements was determined and influence of errors on the presented results was analyzed. Wielkopolska was chosen as the research area because natural conditions had no influence on the shape of the borders. The starting materials were topographic maps in the scale of 1:25,000 (Messtischblätter) from the years 1887–1890. The research confirmed the hypothesis of a circular shape of borders formed in the Middle Ages in the studied area. In the original allocations, the area took the shape of a circle, which was a specific pattern for the villages to be founded. Later, as the settlement developed, the villages took on the shapes of circle segments. Considering the demarcation technique, the accuracy of the boundary staking was high. The deviation from a perfect circle did not exceed approximately ± 60 m, and the length of the arc radius varied between 1500 and 2200 m. The historical village boundaries from medieval times, preserved to this day in their residual form, have a historic character due to their antiquity and should be protected
CONDITION OF MUNICIPAL WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT IN WIELKOPOLSKA IN THE YEARS 1999-2015
The article presents the development and condition of the sewage system in the cities and municipalities of Wielkopolska Voivodeship in the years 1999-2015. The data from Statistical Yearbook from Central Statistical Office – Environment Protection and Local Data Bank, and from National Programme for Municipal Waste Water Treatment implementation reports constituted the basis for the analysis. Over the last 16 years, the system of sewage management in municipalities has steadily improved. The study showed a heterogeneous state of development of the sewage network and wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), different growth of network, as well as variability in the share of the population using the sewage network. In last years the number of people who use the WWTP and sewage network has clearly increased. Moreover, the tendency for increasing amount of sewage treated in high performance technologies is observed. Unfortunately, this does not translate into significant improvements in the water quality in the region. Despite the clear improvement of the state of the sewage economy, it was not possible to fully achieve the assumptions arising from the National Programme for Municipal Waste Water Treatment, both in the voivodship and in the country

Small midfield ponds have important functions in hydrology and ecology of hummocky areas of Poland. Because of their sensitivity to meteorological conditions they undergo changes in number and hydroperiod as a result of climate changes and agriculture pressure. Accurate estimate of the pond area and storage capacities needs current high-resolution elevation data. In this paper, we developed 0.2m and 1.0m bare-earth DEMs from LiDAR data and compared them with DEMs obtained from old bathymetric maps. Then we calculated A-h and V-h relations and compared them with relations derived from simplified models describing pond shape. The analyses showed that LiDAR data are useful also to detect changes in the ponds morphometry

Nawadnianie w rekultywacji składowisk odpadów komunalnych
The study identifies irrigation (sprinkler and slope) as a critical component in the biological reclamation and management of the municipal waste landfill in Boduszewo, the commune of Murowana Goślina in the Wielkopolska province. Irrigation was carried out in the vegetative periods during which, due to the rate and distribution of precipitation (2015 and 2016), it was considered necessary. The irrigation doses were determined corresponding to the water consumption by the vegetation covering the landfill. Results show that precise irrigation with the use of two complementary systems: sprinkler and slope, allows for the prevention and accurate control of the drought, resulting in continuous and uninterrupted growth and development of vegetation in the landfill. During the vegetative period of 2015, when the total precipitation (242 mm) was lower by 78 mm than the multi-year average for this season, rainfall deficiencies were supplemented by means of irrigation with doses from 18 mm to 25 mm. These were varied depending on the vegetation water consumption. On the southwest scarp of the landfill, the water consumption was 124 mm on average, whereas in the same period on the northeast scarp it was 46% lower. During the vegetative period of 2016, there was identified an additional need for irrigation of shrubs and trees. Sprinkler irrigation combined with slope irrigation was carried out with doses ranging from 25 mm to 35 mm, depending upon the water consumption by plants. During the vegetative period of 2017, there was no additional irrigation due to the favourable distribution of precipitation and its high rate (459 mm), higher than the multi-year average (by 139 mm), which retained optimal moisture in the root layer of grasses, trees and shrubs in the landfill. The use of irrigation of plants in the municipal waste landfill proved to be an indispensable process contributing to its effective and fast biological reclamation.W pracy przedstawiono nawodnienie (deszczowniane i stokowe), jako jeden z elementów niezbędnych w przeprowadzeniu rekultywacji biologicznej, składowiska odpadów komunalnych we wsi Boduszewo, gmina Murowana Goślina w województwie Wielkopolskim. Nawodnienia prowadzono w okresach wegetacyjnych: 2015 i 2016 roku, w których ze względu na wysokość a przede wszystkim rozkład opadów występowała potrzeba nawadniania. Określono dawki polewowe, odpowiadające zużyciu wody przez rośliny pokrywające składowisko. Wykazano, że precyzyjne nawadnianie, przy pomocy dwóch uzupełniających się systemów: deszczownianego i stokowego, pozwala uniknąć i zapobiegać okresom suszy, wpływając tym samym na niezakłócony wzrost i rozwój roślinności na składowisku. W okresie wegetacyjnym 2015 roku, w którym suma opadów (242 mm), była niższą o 78 mm od średniej z wielolecia, występujące niedobory opadów uzupełniono nawadnianiem dawkami w ilości od 18 mm do 25 mm. Były one zróżnicowane w zależności od zużycia wody przez rośliny. Na skarpie południowo-zachodniej składowiska, zużycie wody wynosiło średnio 124 mm, podczas gdy w tym samym okresie na skarpie północno-wschodniej było o 46% niższe. W okresie wegetacyjnym 2016 roku, wystąpiła dodatkowo potrzeba nawadniania krzewów i drzew. Nawodnienie deszczowniane połączone ze stokowym przeprowadzono dawkami w ilości od 25 mm do 35 mm, uzależnionymi od zużycia wody przez rośliny. W okresie wegetacyjnym 2017 roku, nawodnień nie prowadzono, z powodu wystąpienia opadów o dużej wysokości (459 mm), wyższych od średniej z wielolecia (o 139 mm), a przede wszystkim korzystnego ich rozkładu. Spowodowały one optymalne uwilgotnienie w warstwie korzeniowej roślin trawiastych oraz drzew i krzewów na składowisku. Zastosowanie nawodnienia roślin na składowisku odpadów komunalnych, okazało się niezbędnym zabiegiem, przyczyniającym się do efektywnej i szybkiej jego rekultywacji biologicznej
Badanie warunków odpływu z jazu Skoki na rzece Paklica
The paper presents an assessment analysis of the flow capacity of the barrage on the Paklica river. The analysed barrage consists of a mill weir and bottom outlets, and is supplied with water from Bukowiecki Lake. The reasons for addressing this subject matter were: from the need to determine the technical condition as well as the ecological condition of the lower position. The environmental status of the area below the system was considered as equally important. Field research included photographic documentation of the technical condition of the weir, taking into account the state below and above the structure, its abutments and the threshold. Additionally, there were made velocity distribution measurements in the downstream during the growing season, assuming this period as the least favourable with respect to hydraulic conditions.W artykule oceniona została przepustowość stopnia wodnego na rzece Paklica. Analizowany stopień składa się z jazu młyńskiego i upustów dennych i jest zasilana wodą z jeziora Bukowieckiego. Przyczyny podjęcia tego tematu były następujące: potrzeba ustalenia stanu technicznego, a także stan ekologiczny analizowanego obiektu. Równie ważny był stan środowiskowy obszaru poniżej stopnia wodnego. W czasie badań terenowych wykonano dokumentację fotograficzną stanu technicznego jazu z uwzględnieniem stanu górnego i dolnego stanowiska, przyczółków oraz progu. Dodatkowo wykonano pomiary rozkładu prędkości w dolnym stanowisku w czasie wegetacji przyjmując ten okres za najmniej korzystny ze względów hydraulicznych
