Knowledge about folic acid supplementation before and during pregnancy among female medical fields students
Pregnancy is a period when optimal supply of vitamins and micro and macro elements is necessary to ensure proper fetal development and maternal health. One of the substances that has been shown to have a positive effect on the fetus is folic acid. Deficiency of this compound is associated with an increased risk of neural tube defects in the fetus. As a consequence, the awareness of women about the role of folic acid and necessity of its supplementation in the preconception period and during pregnancy is crucial. In order to obtain information on the knowledge of women regarding the need to take folic acid and the benefits associated with it, an anonymous questionnaire was carried out. The survey containing 28 original questions in an online form was sent to participants. The study showed deficiencies in the knowledge of female students of reproductive age regarding folic acid supplementation and the need to promote it. Therefore, it is necessary to include as many young women as possible to The Primary Prevention Program of Neural Tube Defects
Efficiency of National Innovation Systems – Poland and Bulgaria in The Context of the Global Innovation Index
The purpose of this paper is to explain how national innovation systems may transform innovation input into innovation output in different counties. Using the Global Innovation Index (GII) we discuss what can be understood by the term ‘innovation’ and how it is translated into the national level. The research question is founded on the assumption that the higher the innovation input, the higher the innovation output attained by a country. We use cluster analysis to verify our assumption, referring to a total of 228 countries. Afterwards we conduct a more in‑depth analysis of two cases (Poland and Bulgaria), where the research question does not find confirmation. Using the cross‑comparison method we aim to verify how and why national innovation systems failed (or succeeded) in creating innovations

Aspirin and oral surgery
Introduction: Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin, ASA) belongs to nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs group (NSAIDs), characterized by analgesic, antipyretic, anti-inflammatory properties. ASA blocks production of prostaglandins and thromboxanes due to non-competitive irreversible inactivation of cyclooxygenase 1 enzyme (COX1). Nowadays, ASA is most commonly used to inhibit platelet function and to reduce the risk of thrombotic events.
The aim of the study: The purpose of this narrative systemic review was to analyse and
summarize available data on necessity of acetylsalicylic acid cessation before oral surgery.
Material and method: Standard criteria were used to review the literature data. The search of articles in the PubMed and Google Scholar databases was carried out using the following
key words: acetylsalicylic acid, oral health, oral surgery.
Description of knowledge: According to some medical practitioners dosing acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) before tooth extraction should be stopped because of fear of bleeding complications. However, the cessation of aspirin may predispose patients to thromboembolic events. Most of the data indicates more benefits from continuation aspirin taking than treatment discontinuation.
Summary: According to actual knowledge and conducted researches there is no need to stop dosing aspirin before oral surgery. The benefits of using aspirin are greater than the risk of bleeding
The level of knowledge of high school students from lubelskie voivodeship about performing first aid
Introduction
First aid plays a key role in saving human life. It not only prevents the deterioration of the victim's health, but also determines survival. Every year, thousands of people die of various injuries, car accidents and other critical situations. This figure could be significantly lower if the accident witnesses provided first aid to the victims.
Material and method
Diagnostic survey was selected as the research method, and the research tool was an authorial questionnaire, examining the level of students' knowledge about first aid. It was based on the guidelines of the European Resuscitation Council 2015. The questionnaire consisted of 20 closed single-choice questions and only one of the 4 answers was correct. The obtained results were statistically analyzed using STATISTICA 12 software (StatSoft Polska). For the correlation study the χ2 test was used, and the significance level was taken as
Importance of adverse drug reaction reporting in dental practice
Dentists in their daily practice could observe adverse drug reactions (ADR) in specific location and after specific medicinal products. As a dentist practitioner it is very important to be aware of what ADR is, what we can do to manage it and what it brings to everyday practice. The level of adverse drug reaction reporting by healthcare professionals (HCPs) is definitely unsatisfactory. One of the most important reasons of this situation is low knowledge about ADRs reporting rules, especially among students and young HCPs. This situation can be changed through increasing the number of hours devoted to this issue during studies. Highlighting the importance of ADRs reporting, even one serious individual case safety reports (ICSRs), in the context of signal detection is necessary
Diabetes and oral health
The main aim of this review is to pay attention to correlation between increasingly common disease all over the world which is diabetes and oral cavity disorders. There were many retrospective studies and researches which improve this relationship but in some of them there exist doubts. There occurs two-way link between this diseases. On one way diabetes may increase the risk of developing periodontitis and on the other periodontal disorders might have impact on glycaemic control. In some cases was reported that periodontitis have influence on appearance of other complications not related to diabetes such as cardiovascular diseases, proteinuria, stroke, angina, retinopathy. Appropriate oral hygiene and controlling the diabetes leads to better glycaemic control and lower play scores and lower HbA. There is need to cooperation between physical and dentists to improve better condition of oral cavity to patients with diabetes and to better glycaemic control
