The quality is an important element in gaining the trust of customers. This article concerns implementation procedure scheme of the quality management system. Scheme presented due to the fact that nowadays many companies decide to implement the quality management system. In the article there are presented step-by-step how effectively implement an ISO 9001 quality management system and benefits that can reach the company. Library fundraising on the example of the Pedagogical Library of Education Center of Teachers in Bialystok

Środki budżetowe przekazywane przez Samorząd Województwa na funkcjonowanie Biblioteki Pedagogicznej CEN w Białymstoku nie dają możliwości realizacji zadań statutowych w sposób satysfakcjonujący. W podobnej sytuacji są inne biblioteki. Zamiarem autorki jest podzielenie się doświadczeniem i pokazanie metod fundraisingowych, które stosuje Biblioteka Pedagogiczna, aby zapewnić sobie stabilizację finansową i fundusze na dalszy rozwój.The budgetary funds of Pedagogic Library CEN in Białystok provided by the voivodeship’s self-government are insufficient to carry out the statutory tasks at a satisfactory level. Pedagogical Library in Bialystok – the past and the present

Artykuł stanowi przegląd historyczny polskich bibliotek pedagogicznych, poczynając od okresu odradzającej się państwowości polskiej do dnia dzisiejszego. Przedstawiono działania władz w okresie międzywojennym związane z odejściem od trzech różnych systemów edukacji, zmierzające do unifikacji szkolnictwa oraz budowy nowego systemu kształcenia nauczycieli. Zwrócono uwagę na okres II wojny światowej, w którym księgozbiory bibliotek uległy niemalże całkowitemu zniszczeniu, a książnice pedagogiczne przestały istnieć. Przybliżono ich powojenną historię, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem Biblioteki Pedagogicznej funkcjonującej obecnie w strukturze Centrum Edukacji Nauczycieli w Białymstoku. Dokonano analizy aktów normatywnych oraz publikacji dotyczących badanego okresu. Udowodniono, że biblioteki pedagogiczne są organizacjami dostosowującymi się do zmieniającego się otoczenia i – oprócz gromadzenia, upowszechniania i udostępniania zbiorów bibliotecznych – kształtują również kompetencje informacyjne użytkowników.The article is a historical overview of Polish pedagogical libraries, beginning from the revival of the Polish state up until the present day. It presents attempts on the part of the interwar authorities to depart from three different systems of education by creating a unified educational system and a new system of teacher training. Attention is drawn to the period of the Second World War, when library collections were almost totally destroyed and pedagogical libraries ceased to exist. Their post-war history is presented, with an emphasis on the Pedagogical Library, which now functions as part of the Centre for Teacher Education in Białystok. The article contains an analysis of normative acts and publications regarding the period under consideration. THE USE OF COMPUTER IMAGE ANALYSIS IN DETERMINING ADHESION PROPERTIES

The paper discusses the use of computer image analysis in determining adhesion properties of materials, including the work of adhesion and surface free energy components. Also, it discusses methods and operators for edge detection employed in the determining of geometrical parameters which are then used as the basis for calculations. In addition, the paper presents an example of expanding the scope of investigations through the application of new IT solutions

Total antioxidant status (TAS) in childhood cancer survivors

Total antioxidant status (TAS), and the influence of treatment and correlation between TAS and parametersinvolved in metabolic syndrome (MS) in pediatric cancer survivors were evaluated. One hundred childrenand adolescents were studied. Twenty-five survivors received radiotherapy, 12 were obese or overweight.Additionally, we analyzed TAS in eight children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) at diagnosis andduring treatment after remission induction. The control group consisted of 22 healthy children. Serum concentrationsof TAS, glucose, cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, triglycerides, fibrinogen and insulin were measured. Incancer survivors, independently of diagnosis and kind of treatment (radiotherapy anthracyclines administration),the mean serum TAS did not differ significantly from the control group. No correlations were observedwith age at the time of diagnosis or interval after the end of treatment. TAS values did not correlate with traits ofthe metabolic syndrome. In a group of eight patients with ALL at diagnosis and after induction of remission,TAS values were lower than in the control and cancer survivor groups. Antioxidant status was not found to bedeteriorated in children after anticancer treatment, irrespective of diagnosis or kind of treatment, which mightindicate sufficient antioxidant prevention. Correlation between Accurate Electron Density and Linear Optical Properties in Amino Acid Derivatives: L-Histidinium Hydrogen Oxalate

The accurate electron density and linear optical properties of L-histidinium hydrogen oxalate are discussed. Two high-resolution single crystal X-ray diffraction experiments were performed and compared with density functional calculations in the solid state as well as in the gas phase. The crystal packing and the hydrogen bond network are accurately investigated using topological analysis based on quantum theory of atoms in molecules, Hirshfeld surface analysis, and electrostatic potential mapping. The refractive indices are computed from couple perturbed Kohn-Sham calculations and measured experimentally. Moreover, distributed atomic polarizabilities are used to analyze the origin of the linear susceptibility in the crystal, in order to separate molecular and intermolecular causes. The optical properties are also correlated with the electron density distribution. This compound also offers the possibility to test the electron density building block approach for material science and different refinement schemes for accurate positions and displacement parameters of hydrogen atoms, in the absence of neutron diffraction data

Charge density studies of multicentre two-electron bonding of an anion radical at non-ambient temperature and pressure

The variation of charge density of two-electron multicentre bonding (pancake bonding) between semi­quinone radicals with pressure and temperature was studied on a salt of 5, 6-di­chloro-2, 3-di­cyano­semi­quinone radical anion (DDQ) with 4-cyano-N-methyl­pyridinium cation (4-CN) using the Transferable Aspheric Atom Model (TAAM) refinement. The pancake-bonded radical dimers are stacked by non-bonding π-interactions. With rising pressure, the covalent character of interactions between radicals increases, and above 2.55 GPa, the electron density indicates multicentric covalent interactions throughout the stack. The experimental charge densities were verified and corroborated by periodic DFT computations. The TAAM approach has been tested and validated for atomic resolution data measured at ambient pressure ; this work shows this approach can also be applied to diffraction data obtained at pressures up to several gigapascals

Fludarabine, treosulfan and etoposide sensitivity and the outcome of hematopoietic stem cell transplantation in childhood acute myeloid leukemia

Background: The prognostic role of the ex vivo drug resistance profile has not yet been proved in childhood acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The aim of the study was the analysis of the impact of the ex vivo drug resistance profile in a cohort of 44 children with AML undergoing hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). Patients and Methods: Myeloblasts for drug resistance testing were obtained from the bone marrow either on diagnosis or at relapse, before the HSCT procedure and were tested by the MTT assay. Results: Children who relapsed after transplantation showed higher ex vivo resistance of the leukemic blasts to etoposide, mercaptopurine, thioguanine, fludarabine, mitoxantrone and treosulfan than those who stayed in remission. Despite being nondiscriminative, the combined ex vivo drug resistance profile to fludarabine, treosulfan and etoposide (FTE score) was the strongest prognostic factor by multivariate analysis. Conclusion: The combined drug resistance profile to fludarabine, treosulfan and etoposide may be useful for better stratification of children with AML undergoing stem cell transplantation or to indicate the necessity for additional post-transplant therapy
