Background: Mastalgia is the commonest cause of visit to the breast clinic. The present study was conducted to assess the efficacy of complete estrogenblockade (CEB) with centchroman and LHRH analog goserelin in the treatment of refractory mastalgia. Aim: To study the effect of LHRHanalogue in refractory mastalgia and to increase pain free period in patients with refractory mastalgia. Methods: This is a prospective cohortstudy conducted in the Dept.Of Gen.Surgery IGIMS ,Patna over a period of six months. The reduction of pain score ( as measured by a visualanalog scale (VAS) recorded on a breast pain chart ) to 3 or less at 6 weeks of initiation of treatment was taken as primary objective. Results:Fifty patients were enrolled in the study. The mean age of the patients was 28 years (15–45 years). The median duration of symptoms was 6 months(4–8). All of them had bilateral mastalgia. The mean pain score at start of study was 7. Conclusion: Complete estrogen blockade by means of GNRHanalogue is safe and effective for treatment of refractory mastalgia

Background: The present study was conducted to assess knowledge, awareness and practice of MBBS students regarding COVID-19 pandemic. Materials & Methods: 170 Medical students of both genders were given a questionnaire regarding clinical symptoms, transmission routes, prevention, and control of COVID-19. Results77% showed that SARS-CoV-2 is the cause of COVID- 19. Main symptoms are fever, fatigue, dry cough and myalgia was replied true by 90%, 90% replied that 2- 14 days is the incubation period of Covid- 19, the overall mortality was correctly answered by 80% and 83% correctly showed that rRT-PCR is the laboratory test available for detection of COVID- 19. The difference was significant (P< 0.05). 75% replied that COVID- 19 increased the frequency of washing hands, 70% replied that COVID- 19 increased the frequency of using hand sanitizers, use of handkerchief while coughing is by 75%, unnecessary travel is avoided by 81%, 78% maintain social distance. The difference was significant (P< 0.05). Conclusion: Most of the students had sufficient knowledge, awareness and practice of regarding COVID-19 pandemic

Background: Hemorrhoids are one of the most common benignanorectal disorders. Stapled hemorrhoidectomy (SH) has been considered as novel technique in the surgical treatment of prolapsed hemorrhoids. Relevant papers, e.g., randomized controlled trials, review, and meta-analysis from different parts of the world have shown stapled hemorrhoidectomy is less painful and it is associated with quicker recovery, but SH involves substantial added cost. Aim: Of the study was to compare the outcome and postoperative complications in patients with grade III and IV Hemorrhoids who underwent hemorrhoidectomy with either stapler hemorrhoidectomy or open hemorrhoidectomy (Milligan Morgan). Methods: 150 patients having grade III or IV Hemorrhoids & who full filled the criteria were included in the study from March 2020 to March 2022. 75 pts underwent for stapler and other 75 pts underwent for open Hemorrhoidectomy. All patients were reviewed immediately after surgery and at 1,3,6 weeks and 6 months post-operatively. The two groups were compared for duration of surgery ,hospital stay, return to work and postoperative complications. Results: Stapler hemorrhoidectomy technique was quicker to perform in comparison with Open hemorrhoidectomy (P value <0.001). Hospitalization and duration of resumption to daily activity was less in Stapler hemorrhoidectomy group as compared to Open hemorrhoidectomy group ( p value < 0.001). Conclusion: Stapler hemorrhoidectomy safer alternative to open hemorrhoidectomy in terms of lesser operative time and intra and postoperative bleeding and lower incidence of various post-operative complications was observed
