    Self-perception of dentistry graduates in Las Tunas of their professional competences

    Background: the Cuban universities have, among their missions, the comprehensive training of health professionals with a high quality that makes it possible to satisfy social demands.Objective: to describe the self-perception that graduates of dentistry have, in the province of Las Tunas, of their professional competences.Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out during the year 2019. The study population consisted of 150 graduates from the aforementioned major, with less than three years of graduation, at the University of Medical Sciences of Las Tunas. A survey was applied.Results: according to the graduates, regarding their skills to carry out the tasks of their profession, there was a prevalence related to a comprehensive dental care and health education, where 62,7 and 64,7 %, respectively, consider that they are completely trained to carry them out; none of them reported not to be trained. In the administrative actions only 18 % proved to be fully trained. 54,7 % think that they are well trained during majoring. 92 % indicates as causes of difficulties in their performance the lack of material resources. 84,7 % states that they can demonstrate that the satisfaction of the population they attend is good.Conclusions: the graduates of the major of dentistry feel that they are well trained in different measures to carry out the tasks of their profession.</p
