Citation sentence reuse behavior of scientists: A case study on massive bibliographic text dataset of computer science
Our current knowledge of scholarly plagiarism is largely based on the
similarity between full text research articles. In this paper, we propose an
innovative and novel conceptualization of scholarly plagiarism in the form of
reuse of explicit citation sentences in scientific research articles. Note that
while full-text plagiarism is an indicator of a gross-level behavior, copying
of citation sentences is a more nuanced micro-scale phenomenon observed even
for well-known researchers. The current work poses several interesting
questions and attempts to answer them by empirically investigating a large
bibliographic text dataset from computer science containing millions of lines
of citation sentences. In particular, we report evidences of massive copying
behavior. We also present several striking real examples throughout the paper
to showcase widespread adoption of this undesirable practice. In contrast to
the popular perception, we find that copying tendency increases as an author
matures. The copying behavior is reported to exist in all fields of computer
science; however, the theoretical fields indicate more copying than the applied
fields
Sentiment-aware Enhancements of PageRank-based Citation Metric, Impact Factor, and H-index for Ranking the Authors of Scholarly Articles
Heretofore, the only way to evaluate an author has been frequency-based citation metrics. However, citations with a neutral sentiment possibly can not be considered in the same light as those expressing a positive or negative sentiment. We present sentiment-enhanced alternatives to three conventional metrics namely Impact Factor, H-index, and PageRank-based index. The proposal studies the impact of the proposed metrics on the ranking of authors. We experimented with two datasets, collectively comprising almost 20,000 citation sentences. The evaluation of the proposed metrics revealed a significant impact of sentiments on author ranking, evidenced by a weak Kendall coefficient for the Author Impact Factor and H-index. However, the PageRank-based metric showed a moderate to strong correlation, perhaps due to its prestige-based attributes. Furthermore, a remarkable Rank-biased deviation exceeding 28% was seen in all cases, indicating a stronger rank deviation in top-ordered ranks
Quadruple Fixed Point Theorems in Partially Ordered Metric Spaces Depended on Another Function
In this article, we introduced concept of ICS mapping for quadruple fixed point in partially ordered metric space. The present results generalized the result of Karapinar E. [23] also we state some examples showing that our results are effective. Nutritional status in under five children and their associated risk factors in an urban slum of Mumbai
Background: Young children living in urban slums are at high risk for acute malnutrition and stunting. Many factors contribute towards it including living conditions, gender, delivery method, or access to nutrition. Malnutrition at a young age can cause morbidity and mortality, and impact further development and educational outcomes of children, and cause lifelong impairment. The aim of this study was to assess the nutritional status of young children in an urban slum in Mumbai and the factors affecting the health of children. Methods: A community based cross sectional study was conducted in the slum community of Dharavi, Mumbai. Data was collected using pre-designed and pre-tested proforma by interview method. Results: The prevalence of wasting (W/H) was found in 48.9% of the population in this study, of which 25.0% had severe acute malnutrition (SAM) and 23.9% had moderate acute malnutrition (MAM). Stunting was found in 39.7% of the population, of which 29.5% were moderately stunted and 10.2% were severely stunted. Wasting was found to be highly correlated with the age of the child and the age of the mother, whereas Stunting was found to be highly correlated with the child, the age of the mother, and complementary feeding. Conclusions: Poor nutritional status of children in the urban slums in Mumbai needs to be addressed by improving education and awareness amid parents and access to Anganwadi, Balwadi, and nutritional supplements.
Sentiment-aware Enhancements of PageRank-based Citation Metric, Impact Factor, and H-index for Ranking the Authors of Scholarly Articles
Heretofore, the only way to evaluate an author has been frequency-based
citation metrics that assume citations to be of a neutral sentiment. However,
considering the sentiment behind citations aids in a better understanding of
the viewpoints of fellow researchers for the scholarly output of an author.Comment: The paper has been accepted for publication in Computer Science
