CMS dashboard task monitoring: A user-centric monitoring view

    Get PDF
We are now in a phase change of the CMS experiment where people are turning more intensely to physics analysis and away from construction. This brings a lot of challenging issues with respect to monitoring of the user analysis. The physicists must be able to monitor the execution status, application and grid-level messages of their tasks that may run at any site within the CMS Virtual Organisation. The CMS Dashboard Task Monitoring project provides this information towards individual analysis users by collecting and exposing a user-centric set of information regarding submitted tasks including reason of failure, distribution by site and over time, consumed time and efficiency. The development was user-driven with physicists invited to test the prototype in order to assemble further requirements and identify weaknesses with the application

Search for a signal on intermediate baryon systems formation in hadron-nuclear and nuclear-nuclear interactions at high energies

We have analyzed the behavior of different characteristics of hadron-nuclear and nuclear-nuclear interactions as a function of centrality to get a signal on the formation of intermediate baryon systems. We observed that the data demonstrate the regime change and saturation. The angular distributions of slow particles exhibit some structure in the above mentioned reactions at low energy. We believe that the structure could be connected with the formation and decay of the percolation cluster. With increasing the mass of colliding nuclei, the structure starts to become weak and almost disappears ultimately. This shows that the number of secondary internuclear interactions increases with increasing the mass of the colliding nuclei. The latter could be a reason of the disintegration of any intermediate formations as well as clusters, which decrease their influence on the angular distribution of the emitted particles.Comment: 2 pages and one figur

    Technology of growing silicon nanotubes

    Get PDF
© 2018 Institute of Physics Publishing. All rights reserved. The paper presents the results of studies on silicon nanotubes production in an arc discharge. The features of the experiments, the description of the experimental setup are given. A description of the obtained nanostructures studied on an electron microscope is presented. It is unequivocal to assert that the obtained silicon nanotubes are single-walled, it is not yet possible. But the fact of obtaining silicon nanotubes is indisputable

Conditional expression of Spry1 in neural crest causes craniofacial and cardiac defects

<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Growth factors and their receptors are mediators of organogenesis and must be tightly regulated in a temporal and spatial manner for proper tissue morphogenesis. Intracellular regulators of growth factor signaling pathways provide an additional level of control. Members of the Sprouty family negatively regulate receptor tyrosine kinase pathways in several developmental contexts. To gain insight into the role of Spry1 in neural crest development, we analyzed the developmental effects of conditional expression of Spry1 in neural crest-derived tissues.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Here we report that conditional expression of Spry1 in neural crest cells causes defects in craniofacial and cardiac development in mice. <it>Spry1;Wnt1-Cre </it>embryos die perinatally and exhibit facial clefting, cleft palate, cardiac and cranial nerve defects. These defects appear to be the result of decreased proliferation and increased apoptosis of neural crest and neural crest-derived cell populations. In addition, the domains of expression of several key transcription factors important to normal craniofacial and cardiac development including <it>AP2</it>, <it>Msx2</it>, <it>Dlx5</it>, and <it>Dlx6 </it>were reduced in <it>Spry1;Wnt1-Cre </it>transgenic embryos.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>Collectively, these data suggest that Spry1 is an important regulator of craniofacial and cardiac morphogenesis and perturbations in Spry1 levels may contribute to congenital disorders involving tissues of neural crest origin.</p

Terpinolene monoxide and dioxide and isomerization of the monoxide under the influence of zinc bromide

    1. We synthesized terpinolene monoxide (4,8-epoxy-p-menthene-1) and dioxide for the first time and confirmed their structure from their NMR and IR spectra. 2. The isomerization of 4,8-epoxy-p-menthene-1 under the influence of zinc bromide was studied. Two isomeric ketones with the composition C10H16O were isolated in individual form; analysis of their PMR spectra provided a basis for assigning them a seven-member ring structure. © 1971 Consultants Bureau

One of the most important requirements of the modern forensic expert procedure - ensuring of the principle of scientific validity of the techniques applied is considered. It’s generally accepted to divide scientific events into three types: scientific-theoretical, scientific-practical and scientific-technical. The majority of international meetings offorensic experts, despite the fact that in the process of their performing there are discussed both theoretical and technical issues, should be attributed to the number of scientific-practical. This is due to the fact that the issues that are discussed, primarily highlight the problems of using scientific methods in practical forensic-expert activity. As the practice shows, the questions ofscientific validity of the expert technique and scientific-methodical grounding of its applying in the performance of expertise may have different semantic, operational, and legal interpretation.Based on the analysis of the materials of the 69th Conference of the American Academy of Forensic Examinations, the possibility of solving the most important methodological problems of forensic examination is considered. It’s first of all the achievement of clear clarity and objectivity in the evaluation ofscientific standards for the reliability and trustworthiness offorensic-expert methods and the possibility of their applying in forensic-expert researches. In all countries of the world, forensic laboratories have similar equipment, and experts from different countries apply standard techniques for analyzing the results obtained with the help of this or that technique. The conclusions offoreign scientists are analyzed for the further development of legislation on forensic examination and harmonization of forensic expert cooperation. It’s necessary to continue studying the international experience on increasing the scientific grounding of forensic- expert techniques and to use the results obtained in a wide range of measures to improve the quality of expert research and reduce the terms of its conduct.Приділено увагу одній із найважливіших вимог сучасного судово-експертного провадження - забезпечення принципу наукової обґрунтованості застосовуваних методик. Discharge creeping along the surface in the process for producing nanomaterials

© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. In this paper, we propose a new principle of assembling carbon nanoparticles in the plasma of a glow discharge creeping along the surface. In this paper, it is shown that carbon nanoparticles (fullerenes and nanotubes), as well as light fractions of oil, can be produced by means of a glow discharge on the surface of the fuel oil. Single-walled carbon nanotubes of about 10 μm in length were obtained

A study was made of the isomerization of 2,3-epoxypinane and 3,4-epoxycarane by means of lithium diethylamide. 2,3-Epoxypinane is isomerized into trans-2(10)-pinen-3-ol, whereas 3,4-epoxycarane forms a mixture of alcohols: 3(10)-caren-4-ol, p-mentha-1,5-dien-8-ol, and m-mentha-4,6-dien-2-ol. © 1966 Consultants Bureau Enterprises, Inc
