Growth response of Tilapia nilotica fry to different commercial and non-commercial feeds
One hundred fifty Tilapia nilotica fry were randomly distributed into fifteen different aquaria, with each having ten individuals. Five treatments of feeds were used to determine growth response of the fish fry. Two of the feeds were Robina and Vitarich, which are commercially available in the market. The other feeds used were bloodworms, chicken manure and rice bran, which are non-commercial. Based on the results obtained, it was found out that there is no significant difference in the growth response of Tilapia nilotica fry between the two commercial feeds and bloodworm meal. Nevertheless, it was noted that bloodworm is a suitable and efficient alternative to the conventional commercial feeds based on the feed conversion ratio analysis
