Effectiveness of Music Therapy on pain reduction among patients underwent orthopedic surgery in MIOT Hospital at Madurai
A study to assess the effectiveness of Music Therapy on pain reduction among patients underwent Orthopedic surgery at MIOT hospital, Madurai, Tamilnadu was conducted in partial fulfillment of the requirement for the award a degree in master of science in
Nursing under the Tamilnadu Dr.M.G.R.Medical university, Chennai. The research design was Quasi experimental design. Sample size was 60; purposive sampling technique was used to select the samples.
OBJECTIVES:
1. To assess the pre-test and post-test level of pain among the orthopedic surgical patients who had music therapy in experimental group.
2. To assess the pre-test and post-test level of pain among the orthopedic surgical patients in control group.
3. To evaluate the effectiveness of music therapy on pain reduction among the patients who had orthopedic surgery in experimental group.
4. To find out the association between the post test level of pain among experimental group and their selected demographic variables.
5. To find out the association between the post test level of pain among control group and their selected demographic variables.
The study was based on the LUDWIG VON BERTALANFFY’S GENERAL SYSTEM MODEL.
HYPOTHESES:
H1 The mean post-test level of pain among experimental group will be significantly lower than the mean pre-test level of pain.
H2 The mean post-test level of pain among the experimental group who received music therapy will be significantly lower than the mean post-test level of pain among the control group.
H3 There will be a significant association between the post-test level of pain among the experimental group and their selected demographic variables.
H4 There will be a significant association between the post-test level of pain among the control group and their selected demographic variables.
The aim of the research was to assess the effectiveness of Music Therapy on pain reduction among patients underwent orthopedic surgery at MIOT hospital, Madurai, Tamilnadu. A Quasi experimental design was used for this study. The study population
was 60 adult samples with orthopedic surgery who fulfilled the criteria. A purposive sampling technique was used to select the samples. In order to collect the data, the tool was prepared which comprised of demographic variables, Visual analogue scale to assess
the level of pain of the samples.

Power Conservation and Security Enhancement in Wireless Sensor Networks: A Priority Based Approach
In wireless sensor networks (WSN), two major challenges are how to conserve the battery power and a series of security challenges. The power conservation and security are important for reliability and longevity of a WSN. This paper proposes an approach called “priority based approach (PBA)” which empowers the node to choose the most important packet based on the priority and the current energy status of the forwarding node. Thus we can minimize the average delay and energy spent and maximize the throughput and packet delivery ratio (PDR) when compared to game theory approach
