The American Association of University Professors (AAUP) was created in 1915 in an effort to protect the academic freedom of educators of higher education in the United States. They primarily work to ensure academic freedom is maintained for tenured professors as well as to identify and administer censure for institutions that do not promote academic freedom. This collection consists of memorandums, reports, a TIAA-CREF retirement plan, pamphlet, an issue of Academe, and finally a Title IX Self Evaluation of Winthrop College from 1975-1976 all affiliated with the AAUP. These items describe events, such as the Sixtieth Annual Meeting of the AAUP, in which various themes of salary equity, the economics of the professor profession, and the organization’s goals were presented and discussed.https://digitalcommons.winthrop.edu/manuscriptcollection_findingaids/2615/thumbnail.jp
