The church floors in Venice, Italy -- an archeological study and analysis

This project, completed in Venice, was sponsored by the Archeology Superintendent Luigi Fozzati and focuses on the churches of Venice, specifically on church floors and the artifacts embedded within. The project necessitated formulating an effective and accurate method in data collection and condition assessment, supplementing past databases pertaining to Venetian church floors located in the Canneregio, Dorsoduro and San Polo sestieres, the construction of multiple map layers of church floor plans using the GIS system MapInfo, and the analysis of the information gathered in order to determine which church floors were most valuable historically and artistically, and therefore in most need of restoration

Evaluation and recommendation of tax preparation software

This project evaluates available software to update the outdated tax reporting software currently used by the project sponsor, Fidelity Investments. This report describes Fidelity's business practices, systems and business requirements, and possible software solutions from outside vendors, as well as from within Fidelity. Ultimately, this project recommends purchasing the software solution provided by Convey's Taxport system to replace the current system

World Heritage List : does it make sense?

The UNESCO World Heritage List contains the 900 most treasured Sites of humanity’s culture and landscapes. This List is beneficial where heritage sites are undetected, disregarded by national decision-makers, not commercially exploitable, and where national financial resources, political control and technical knowledge for conservation are inadequate. Alternatives such as the market and reliance on national conservation list are more beneficial where the cultural and natural sites are already popular, markets work well, and where inclusion in the List does not raise the destruction potential by excessive tourism, and in times of war, or by terrorists
