Digital Entrepreneurship in the Last Decade: A Systematic Review

    Get PDF
The objective of this paper is to investigate the effects ICT has on the sustainability of Digital Entrepreneurship in Nigeria.  Furthermore, this paper seeks to determine if the utilization of ICT can forecast the rate of start-ups in the Digital Entrepreneurship sector and interrogate the characteristics and inter-relationships inherent in Digital Entrepreneurship.   To achieve this objective, a systematic literature review using the Systematic Quantitative Assessment Technique (SQAT) was the methodology used to review 45 DE articles published over the last decade (2012 – 2021).   To provide a thorough, impartial amalgam of the reviewed articles, this paper analysed the time distribution, geographic distribution, types and data collection methods of the 45 DE articles.  The review revealed that existing research has been both empirical and conceptual in equal measure with only one instance in mixed mode.  The parity suggests that future researchers should endeavour to conduct more conceptual research to underpin the envisaged accelerated growth of DE

A Study on Sources, Availability and Accessibility of Potable Water in Imo State, Nigeria

Sources, availability and accessibility of potable water were studied in the three geopolitical zones; Okigwe, Owerri, Orlu zones of Imo State, Nigeria. A total of 800 pretested and randomly distributed questionnaires were used on adult respondents in the three zones. Results identified borehole water as the major (65.4%) source of drinking water among the respondents. More than half (53.8%) of the respondents have their water source located less than 50m from their houses, of which 33% have their boreholes located within their compounds. About half of the respondents visit water bodies daily. The highest total rating of supply of water by the respondents was on “poor” supply. The poor rating was more in Okigwe zone where 107 (64.7%) gave poor rating for supply of potable water. The study has shown that although there is availability and accessibility of water, there is need to monitor sitting of water sources and create awareness as well as lay emphasis on purification since what is available and accessible is not potable

Trend and Variations of Surface Air Temperatures across Selected Eco-Climatic Zones in Nigeria

The trends and variability in surface air temperatures over selected eco-climatic zones in Nigeria were assessed using Merra-2 datasets from 1981 to2018. A total of 15 stations spread across the eco-climatic zones in Nigeria were used for this study. The Mann-Kendall, linear trend and Sen’s slope trend test, time series plots and descriptive statistics were used. The coefficients of variability of surface air maximum temperature showed low variability for the Mangrove-swamp rainforest and moderate variability for the Guinea-wooded, Sudan and Sahel savannas. Similarly, the coefficients of variability of surface air minimum temperature showed moderate variability for all the selected eco-climatic zones. The M-K trend test showed that 14 stations had upward trends and 1 downward trend, with 13 stations having statistically significant trend in air surface maximum temperature. All the stations had statistically significant upward trends in air surface minimum temperature. The average increase in maximum and minimum air surface temperatures is estimated to be about 0.035°C and 0.036°C per year, respectively. For Nigeria, the average air surface temperature is estimated to increase by about 0.036°C per year, and the average air surface temperature is estimated to have increased by about 1.4°C over the 38 years. This study then gives a linear trend projection of about 4.3°C increase in estimated mean air surface temperature by year 2100 in Nigeria.Citation: King, L. E., Udo, S. O., Ewona, I. O., Amadi, S.
