Recasting results in equivariant geometry: affine cosets, observable subgroups and existence of good quotients

Studies of hepatic synthesis in vivo of plasma proteins, including orosomucoid, transferrin, α-antitrypsin, C8, and factor B
Serum protein types were determined in eight recipients and donors in cases of hepatic homotransplantation. A change from recipient type to donor type was observed for factor B, C8, orosomucoid, haptoglobin, transferrin, α1-antitrypsin, C3 and C6, but not for Gm and Inv immunoglobulin markers. The results indicate that all the proteins studied (except immunoglobulins) are produced primarily by the liver in vivo. © 1980
Synthesis of human plasminogen by the liver
Genetic types of plasminogen were determined from a donor and a recipient before and after hepatic homotransplantation. Examination of the plasminogen types demonstrated that the liver is the principal site of synthesis of human plasminogen. Copyright © 1980 AAAS
S-OGSA as a Reference Architecture for OntoGrid and for the Semantic Grid
The Grid aims to support secure, flexible and coordinated resource sharing through providing a middleware platform for advanced distributing computing. Consequently, the Grid’s infrastructural machinery aims to allow collections of any kind of resources—computing, storage, data sets, digital libraries, scientific instruments, people, etc—to easily form Virtual Organisations (VOs) that cross organisational boundaries in order to work together to solve a problem. A Grid depends on understanding the available resources, their capabilities, how to assemble them and how to best exploit them. Thus Grid middleware and the Grid applications they support thrive on the metadata that describes resources in all their forms, the VOs, the policies that drive then and so on, together with the knowledge to apply that metadata intelligently
Toward Improved Accuracy Standards for Hydrographic Surveying
During a routine review of hydrographic procedures, we became aware that the hydrographic survey standards published by the IHO [1] and our own agency [2] are not stated in terms of statistical parameters as is the case in most sciences, e.g. in geodesy. Digging a little deeper, though not exhaustively, we found that some of the published standards are either ambiguous, unrealistic, or not definitive. This is true for both depth and horizontal positioning standards
Can Gluons Trace Baryon Number?
QCD as a gauge non-Abelian theory imposes severe constraints on the structure
of the baryon wave function. We point out that, contrary to a widely accepted
belief, the traces of baryon number in a high-energy process can reside in a
non-perturbative configuration of gluon fields, rather than in the valence
quarks. We argue that this conjecture can be tested experimentally, since it
can lead to substantial baryon asymmetry in the central rapidity region of

Octilinear Force-Directed Layout with Mental Map Preservation for Schematic Diagrams
We present an algorithm for automatically laying out metro map style schematics using a force-directed approach, where we use a localized version of the standard spring embedder forces combined with an octilinear magnetic force. The two types of forces used during layout are naturally conflicting, and the existing method of simply combining these to generate a resultant force does not give satisfactory results. Hence we vary the forces, emphasizing the standard forces in the beginning to produce a well distributed graph, with the octilinear forces
becoming prevalent at the end of the layout, to ensure that the key requirement of line angles at intervals of 45? is obtained. Our method is considerably faster than the more commonly used search-based approaches, and we believe the results are superior to the previous force-directed approach. We have further developed this technique to address the issues of dynamic schematic layout. We use a Delaunay triangulation to construct a schematic “frame”, which is used to retain relative node positions and permits full control of the level of mental map preservation.
This technique is the first to combine mental map preservation techniques with the additional layout criteria of schematic diagrams. To conclude, we present the results of a study to investigate the relationship between the level of mental map preservation and the user response time and accuracy
Effect of kinetic resonances on the stability of Resistive Wall Mode in Reversed Field Pinch
The kinetic effects, due to the mode resonance with thermal particle drift
motions in the reversed field pinch (RFP) plasmas, are numerically investigated
for the stability of the resistive wall mode, using a non-perturbative
MHD-kinetic hybrid formulation. The kinetic effects are generally found too
weak to substantially change the mode growth rate, or the stability margin,
re-enforcing the fact that the ideal MHD model is rather adequate for
