The ductile ideology: from being an absolutist discourse to being an element which configures the experience

This research purpots to examinate the historical tour of one of the most relevant phenomena of the collective imaginary: the ideology. It will be observed as the above mentioned phenomenon will happen of being an absolute theory it brings over of the reality of the subject, to an element constituent of the psychological experience of the subjectivity (to the season of the postmodern speech). To analyze this transit, will be observed the expositions of Marx and Engels, as representatives of the historical materialism and founders of the traditional vision of the phenomenon, Althusser, as speech that initiates the turn of the ideology to the subject and, finally, Zizek, as of integration theory of the traditional vision and subjectivity speech

This research proposes to indicate the need of multiplicity of methodologies in the moment to approach at human experience. Any methodological imperialism (scientific, social, humanist ...) it’s condemned to the failure since it will be unable to be able to include the totality of the ontological wealth of the human experience. For this reason, it will be observed like, the art, it can be raised in a diaphanous example of methodology that, close to the rest of disciplines, offers us the possible tools to be able to work with the experience.

The objective of this research is to show the discursive processes behind the phenomenon of victimization. To undertake this task, will be analyzed different phenomena implicit in the development discursive of the victim. Subsequently developed a historical tour to see the different conceptions of the victim that has been realized throughout history Finally, will be addressed a characterization of the processes of discursive elaboration of the victims in capitalist society and analysis of the ideological phenomenon as a fundamental framework that is currently enrolled victimization process.

A mutation in the POT1 gene is responsible for cardiac angiosarcoma in TP53-negative Li-Fraumeni-like families

Cardiac angiosarcoma (CAS) is a rare malignant tumour whose genetic basis is unknown. Here we show, by whole-exome sequencing of a TP53-negative Li-Fraumeni-like (LFL) family including CAS cases, that a missense variant (p.R117C) in POT1 (protection of telomeres 1) gene is responsible for CAS. The same gene alteration is found in two other LFL families with CAS, supporting the causal effect of the identified mutation. We extend the analysis to TP53-negative LFL families with no CAS and find the same mutation in a breast AS family. The mutation is recently found once in 121,324 studied alleles in ExAC server but it is not described in any other database or found in 1,520 Spanish controls. In silico structural analysis suggests how the mutation disrupts POT1 structure. Functional and in vitro studies demonstrate that carriers of the mutation show reduced telomere-bound POT1 levels, abnormally long telomeres and increased telomere fragility

Reducing the environmental impact of surgery on a global scale: systematic review and co-prioritization with healthcare workers in 132 countries

Abstract Background Healthcare cannot achieve net-zero carbon without addressing operating theatres. The aim of this study was to prioritize feasible interventions to reduce the environmental impact of operating theatres. Methods This study adopted a four-phase Delphi consensus co-prioritization methodology. In phase 1, a systematic review of published interventions and global consultation of perioperative healthcare professionals were used to longlist interventions. In phase 2, iterative thematic analysis consolidated comparable interventions into a shortlist. In phase 3, the shortlist was co-prioritized based on patient and clinician views on acceptability, feasibility, and safety. In phase 4, ranked lists of interventions were presented by their relevance to high-income countries and low–middle-income countries. Results In phase 1, 43 interventions were identified, which had low uptake in practice according to 3042 professionals globally. In phase 2, a shortlist of 15 intervention domains was generated. In phase 3, interventions were deemed acceptable for more than 90 per cent of patients except for reducing general anaesthesia (84 per cent) and re-sterilization of ‘single-use’ consumables (86 per cent). In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for high-income countries were: introducing recycling; reducing use of anaesthetic gases; and appropriate clinical waste processing. In phase 4, the top three shortlisted interventions for low–middle-income countries were: introducing reusable surgical devices; reducing use of consumables; and reducing the use of general anaesthesia. Conclusion This is a step toward environmentally sustainable operating environments with actionable interventions applicable to both high– and low–middle–income countries
