Brain tumor in the morbidly obese patient: Diagnostic and therapeutic challenges
Tumors of the sellar and the suprasellar region are complex tumors and high-quality imaging is fundamental for diagnosis, characterization, and guidance of treatment planning. While the gold standard for diagnostics is contrast-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), it is a challenging procedure in morbidly obese patients. This report aims to present a case of a morbidly obese patient with a brain tumor and the diagnostic and therapeutic challenges of its treatment
SkijaÅ”ki palac - prikaz sluÄaja
Ulnar collateral ligament (UCL) rupture of the metacarpophalangeal joint of the thumb, in literature also known as skier\u27s thumb, is an acute injury commonly seen in athletes such as skiers and handball players. This type of tear is associated with a Stener lesion where part of the torn UCL is displaced dorsal and superficial to the adductor aponeurosis. This report aims to present a case of Stener lesion in a young patient that was successfully treated surgically.
Tarsal navicular stress fracture in a female gymnast
Stress fractures should be considered in any athlete presenting with the insidious onset of pain, especially in the setting of a sudden change in activity or training level. Tarsal navi-cular stress fractures are high-risk stress fractures typically seen in high-level athletes
Recurrent peroneal tendon dislocation in a football player-an un-common, but important consequence of an ankle injury
Recurrent peroneal tendon dislocation is a condition where one or both peroneal tendons dislocate from the retromalleolar space during active or passive dorsiflexion and eversion movements of the ankle. Usually, it appears after an ankle sprain, which can be mislea-ding in making the diagnosis, since the lateral ankle ligaments are the main focus for most physicians. The report aims to present a case of recurrent peroneal tendon dislocation in a football player who was initially misdiagnosed and wrongly treated with ankle arthroscopy
Treatment of a football player with os Trigonum producing neurolo-gical symptoms
The os trigonum, found in 5-15% of the population, is a frequent cause of posterior ankle impingement syndrome. It can cause pain and hindered mobility, particularly during plan-tar flexion. This report details the case of a professional footballer who experienced neuro-logical symptoms caused by os trigonum, focusing on the successful treatment of this con-dition
