Logarithmic Correlators in Non-relativistic Conformal Field Theory

We show how logarithmic terms may arise in the correlators of fields which belong to the representation of the Schrodinger-Virasoro algebra (SV) or the affine Galilean Conformal Algebra (GCA). We show that in GCA, only scaling operator can have a Jordanian form and rapidity can not. We observe that in both algebras logarithmic dependence appears along the time direction alone.Comment: 18 pages, no figures, some errors correcte

Labour Productivity and Foreign Direct Investment in Irish Manufacturing Industry: A Decomposition Analysis

    Get PDF
Overall labour productivity in the Irish manufacturing sector increased by 158 per cent between 1991 and 1999. This growth in labour productivity coincided with strong growth in employment during the same period, in stark contrast to the experience of other European countries. This paper examines the components of this labour productivity growth in the period 1991-1999, using a decomposition analysis based on plant level data. In order to account for the large presence of foreign plants we carry out our analysis separately for foreign and domestic plants, as well as for four ownership subgroups, four sectoral subgroups, and two time sub-periods. Our results show that although the main drivers of average labour productivity growth in all groups arise within plant and from plant entry, there are marked differences in the relative sizes of these effects across the ownership/sector/time-period.

Mixed quantum-classical dynamics from the exact decomposition of electron-nuclear motion

We present a novel mixed quantum-classical approach to the coupled electron-nuclear dynamics based on the exact factorization of the electron-nuclear wave function, recently proposed in [A. Abedi, N. T. Maitra, and E. K. U. Gross, Phys. Rev. Lett. 105, 123002 (2010)]. In this framework, classical nuclear dynamics is derived as the lowest order approximation of the time dependent Schr\"odinger equation that describes the evolution of the nuclei. The effect of the time dependent scalar and vector potentials, representing the exact electronic back-reaction on the nuclear subsystem, is consistently derived within the classical approximation. We examine with an example the performance of the proposed mixed quantum-classical scheme in comparison with exact calculations

An Architectural Approach To Level Design

This paper review’s Christopher Totten’s 2014 book, An Architectural Approach to Level Design. Totten’s work arguably represents the most advanced and up to date discussion in applying traditional architecture principles to level design. The work in many aspects is ground-breaking and truly unique; he is one of the first (and only) architects writing in the field of games design and to developed an extensive discourse on why and how architectural principles, can and should be applied to the process of games design. Totten’s work can be considered at the forefront of demonstrating the ever-expanding domain of games design; it is successfully combines two disparate disciplines, in this case architecture and games design, and despite several weaknesses can be considered to be a leading key text in the field of architecture and games design. The paper concludes with a recommendation that the work is a valuable read for both game developers in the field wanting to develop a deeper understanding of designing more immersive and authentic game spaces as well as students engaged in studying games design & development or architecture and wanting to bridge the gap between the subject areas
