Information and Technology’s role and digital transformation challenges: a systematic literature review

With the emergence and maturity of digital technologies (e.g., social networks, mobile telephony, big data, artificial intelligence), companies in virtually every segment are pursuing a range of initiatives to leverage their benefits. Given the increased competition from globalization and greater importance of customer focus, companies are being pressured to become digital ahead of others to survive and gain a competitive advantage. Going through such a change requires transforming the way the company sees its value proposition, its processes, the profile of its clients and its economic sustainability. Moreover, the functions of the information technology department and their leadership are being questioned. From a systematic examination of the literature, this paper presents an overview about Bimodal IT, the participation of IT in digital transformation and the hurdles of such a change

Contextual aspects of kidney transplantation and behavior of patients face to replacement therapy

Objective: To analyze the contextual aspects of the behavior exhibited by patients with renal transplants, their immediate and specific, general and metacontexto dimension. Method: An exploratory and descriptive study with a qualitative approach, and the method and technique of oral history to life for the seizure of reports analyzed according to the analysis of the theoretical framework proporto context Hinds, Chaves and Cypress. Results: The network was composed of nine patients were interviewed between June and October 2011. Among the most frequently reported behaviors, it emphasizes the denial of the disease and treatment, followed by acceptance and resumption of life, with varying time duration for both process. Conclusion: The recovery of life from renal transplant recipients found support in family ties and belief in the divine. Better understanding of the behavior exhibited by patients brings reflections on improvements in nursing care for this clientele

Vortex configurations and metastability in mesoscopic superconductors

The vortex dynamics in mesoscopic superconducting cylinders with rectangular cross section under an axially applied magnetic field is investigated in the multivortex London regime. The rectangles considered range from a square up to an infinite slab. The flux distribution and total flux carried by a vortex placed in an arbitrary position of the sample is calculated analytically by assuming Clem's solution for the vortex core. The Bean-Livingston energy barrier is also analytically calculated in this framework. A Langevin algorithm simulates the flux penetration and dynamical evolution of the vortices as the external field is slowly cycled. The simulated magnetization process is governed by metastable states. The magnetization curves are hysteretic, with paramagnetic response in part of the downward branch, and present a series of peaks corresponding to the entry or expulsion of a single vortex. For elongated rectangles, the vortices arrange themselves into parallel vortex chains and an additional modulation of the magnetization, corresponding to creation or destruction of a vortex chain, comes out.Comment: 7 pages, 4 figures. This chapter summarizes the fundamentals of biosensing techniques based on fluorescence spectroscopy and the protagonism of state-of-the-art luminescent biosensors in a wide range of scientific areas, from environmental monitoring to diagnostics and decease treatment, focusing on the paramount contribution of biosensors based on the Förster Resonance Energy Transfer (FRET) transducing mechanism. State-of-the-art FRET biosensors are specially characterized by outstanding sensitivity toward a number of environmental pollutants and dissolved oxygen in aquatic ecosystems, capable of detecting concentrations in the nano and picomolar scales. These biosensors have also been showing impressive performance over other methods in the study of real-time biological processes in vivo relevant to help understanding decease progression like cancer

OS ARGUMENTOS PSICOLÓGICOS EM “A ESTRUTURA DAS REVOLUÇÕES CIENTÍFICAS” DE THOMAS KUHN

O papel e o reconhecimento da psicologia no campo da epistemologia sempre foi vetor de diversas controvérsias. Dentre autores que a rejeitaram e outros que a elegeram como elemento importante, destacamos o historiador e filósofo das ciências, Thomas Kuhn. Neste artigo listaremos os diversos argumentos e todas as teorias psicológicas citadas pelo epistemólogo no decorrer de sua obra mais influente: A estrutura das revoluções científicas. A forma como Kuhn utiliza o saber psicológico nos revela como suas proposições sobre a construção científica resgatam o valor epistemológico da psicologia, pois, ao descrever os processos inerentes a uma revolução científica, o enfoque sociológico e histórico foi invariavelmente complementado pelo campo psi. Assim, para explicar a atual conformação e engendramento das “ciências duras”, deu-se como necessário o recurso às “ciências brandas”. Diante desta aparente contradição, partiremos da situação em que críticas a um suposto subjetivismo de Kuhn envolvem a psicologia, para compreender como o autor a emprega no que ele denominou de “psicologia da investigação científica”. Consequentemente, responderemos questões decorrentes desta utilização, como o estatuto da cientificidade da psicologia dentro de suas próprias teorias e a legitimidade desta como ferramenta epistemológica

Método: Estudo exploratório e descritivo, com abordagem qualitativa, tendo o método e técnica da história oral de vida para a apreensão dos relatos, analisados segundo a análise de contexto proposto no referencial teórico de Hinds, Chaves e Cypress. Resultados: A rede foi composta de nove pacientes, entrevistados no período de junho e outubro de 2011. Entre os comportamentos mais relatados, ressalta-se o de negação da doença e tratamento, seguido pelo processo de aceitação e retomada da vida, com duração de tempo variado para ambos. Conclusão: A retomada da vida dos transplantados renais encontrou apoio nos laços familiares e na crença divinal. O melhor entendimento do comportamento apresentado pelos pacientes traz reflexões acerca de melhorias na assistência de enfermagem a esta clientela
