The factors of selecting Malaysia as tourist destination

    Get PDF
Tourism is an emerging economic sector for Malaysia. The purpose of this study is an attempt to understand the factors that attract tourists to visit Melaka State of Malaysia. The primary data were collected through questionnaire survey on 735 tourists who visited the state of Melaka, Malaysia. This study used descriptive statistics, confirmatory factor analysis, and structural equation modelling (SEM) in order to analyze and draw the inferences.Model fit was initially tested using the overall fit and regression paths. Then the hypothesized model was analysed and modified based on the results of the analysis to find a better fit of the data and to more adequately describe the relationships between the factors. The study found that several economic, environmental, cultural and community factors have positive significant influence in attracting tourists to Melaka

Free Convection from a Vertical Permeable Circular Cone with Pressure Work and Non-Uniform Surface Temperature

Laminar free convection from a vertical permeable circular cone maintained at non-uniform surface temperature with pressure work term is considered. Non-similarity solutions for boundary layer equations are found to exist when the surface temperature follows the power law variations with the distance measured from the leading edge. The numerical solutions of the transformed non-similar boundary layer equations are obtained by using two methodologies, namely, (i) a finite difference method and (ii) a series solution or perturbation method for small values of ξ, the dimensionless suction parameter. Solutions obtained in terms of skin-friction coefficient, local rate of heat transfer, velocity and temperature profiles for the values of Prandtl number, pressure work parameter and temperature gradient are displayed in both graphical and tabular forms. Finite difference solutions are compared with the solutions obtained by perturbation technique and found to be in excellent agreement near the leading edge

Viscous Dissipation Effects on MHD Natural Convection Flow Over a Sphere in the Presence of Heat Generation

In this paper, the viscous dissipation effects on magnetohydrodynamic natural convection flow over a sphere in the presence of heat generation have been described. The governing boundary layer equations are first transformed into a nondimensional form and the resulting nonlinear system of partial differential equations are then solved numerically using finite-difference method together with Keller-box scheme. The numerical results of the surface shear stress in terms of skin friction coefficient and the rate of heat transfer in terms of local Nusselt number, velocity as well as temperature profiles are shown graphically and tabular form for a selection of parameters set consisting of heat generation parameter Q, magnetic parameter M, viscous dissipation parameter N and the Prandlt number Pr

Street Vending as an Alternative to Self-employment and a Way to Income Generation in Bangladesh

    Get PDF
This study aimed at visualizing the role of the street vendors as a way to self-employment and income generation in Bangladesh. It was based on the survey of 152 street vendors in different areas of Dhaka. It administered a well structured questionnaire to collect the primary information and to picture the overall street vending scenario in order to show the contribution of the street vendors in self-employment and income generation of Bangladesh. The findings of the study showed that the street vendors are playing a significant role in the economic development of the country through creating the self-employment opportunities, income generation and saving a specific portion from among their income. Since for this street vending, both the vendors and the local community faced several problems the paper finally suggested that, a well management and formalization system of street vending can enrich the overall street vending scenario of the city and can bring a good prospect for the economy. Keywords: Street vendors, street vending, street vending scenario, social status

A 3D-collaborative wireless network: towards resilient communication for rescuing flood victims

    Get PDF
Every year, floods result in huge damage and devastation both to lives and properties all over the world. Much of this devastation and its prolonged effects result from a lack of collaboration among the rescue agents as a consequence of the lack of reliable and resilient communication platform in the disrupted and damaged environments. In order to counteract this issue, this paper aims to propose a three-dimensional (3D)- collaborative wireless network utilizing air, water and ground based communication infrastructures to support rescue missions in flood-affected areas. Through simulated Search and Rescue(SAR) activities, the effectiveness of the proposed network model is validated and its superiority over the traditional SAR is demonstrated, particularly in the harsh flood environments. The model of the 3D-Collaborative wireless network is expected to significantly assist the rescuing teams in accomplishing their task more effectively in the corresponding disaster areas
