The study aimed to present a proposed educational vision to activate the dimensions of the learning organization in Jordanian universities from the students' point of view. The study population consisted of all Jordanian university students, and the study sample was (583) male and female students, and the developmental survey method was used. The results of the study showed that the degree of availability of the dimensions of the learning organization in Jordanian universities from the viewpoint of its students in general was moderate. The results also indicated that there are no differences attributed to the scientific qualification variable, and the presence of statistically significant differences attributed to the gender variable and in favor of females in each of the following dimensions (after strategic leadership in support of learning, after sharing knowledge, and after linking the organization to the external environment). And based on the results of the study, the two researchers developed an educational vision to activate the dimensions of the learning organization in Jordanian universities. Key words: the learning organization, an educational vision, Jordanian universities. DOI: 10.7176/JEP/12-1-08 Publication date: January 31st 2021

The present study aimed to offer a proposed educational-administrative vision for activating the role of educational media in Jordanian secondary public schools in addressing the intellectual and cultural challenges. The population consists from all the Jordanian secondary public school principals (i.e. 1227 female and male principals). The sample consists from 127 female and male principals. It represents 10% of the population. A developmental survey-based approach was adopted. It was found that educational media plays moderate role in addressing the intellectual and cultural challenges in Jordanian secondary public schools. There isn’t any statistically significant difference between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to (gender, or academic qualification). However, there are statistically significant differences between the respondents’ attitudes which can be attributed to experiences for the favour of the ones who have 10 years or more. Based on the study’s results, the researchers proposed an educational-administrative vision for activating the role of educational media in Jordanian secondary public schools in addressing the intellectual and cultural challenges. The applicability of this vision was examined. This study aimed to identify the most important problems faced by students in the field of training. The problems addressed are limited to academic, organizational, guidance, and fieldwork institutions. The study adopted descriptive cross-sectional design to identify the difficulties experienced by students during specialization in sociology and Social Work. The study was conducted in media and humanities College at Ajman University. A random-sampling technique was used to recruit 130 male and female students enrolled in the academic year 2019-2020. The data was collected using 4-Point Likert scale questionnaire survey form and the collected data was analyzed using Statistical Package of Social Sciences version 22.0. Descriptive Statistical Analysis test was applied and represented through frequency and percentages whereas other findings were represented by arithmetic mean and standard deviation. Results indicated that majority of respondents were moderately satisfied with the level of performance of the faculty member in charge of training. Major lacking was in the form of unavailability of supervisors, insufficient resources and skilled trainers. It is recommended to select training institutions with the right potential to succeed the training process in terms of the appropriate capacity and adequate preparations for the reception of students. The study provides important information regarding the challenges met by students while conducting education in social work. Though training serves as an integral part of social work in the specialization of sociology, the remaining process of education depends upon the knowledge and skills of trainers that may cater challenges during the practical journe

The Effect of COVID-19 on Family Support for Home-Schooling in Urban Areas

The objective of the study is to clarify that the family participated in COVID-19 as a home-schooling family. The sample was selected according to the geographical distribution of schools in the eastern region of Khartoum. Data was collected through a questionnaire and interviews. The most important result is that there is an increasing interest from parents to support home-schooling despite the challenges of continuing learning, such as the widening digital divide in technology, previous experience, and poor network connectivity. This research paper focused on the point of view of parents in the city of Khartoum on supporting home-schooling according to social variables related to both mother and father, and the paper concluded that parents of students in private schools are more supportive of home education. Also, most of the parents of students who support home-schooling have reached their university level of education and post-university and belong to the youth age group. Although parents emphasize the importance of home-schooling during the COVID-19 infection, there are challenges associated with providing home-schooling for their children. Doi: 10.28991/ESJ-2023-07-05-021 Full Text: PD

Independence and mobility after infrainguinal lower limb bypass surgery for critical limb ischemia

BackgroundCritical limb ischemia (CLI) is a common condition associated with high levels of morbidity and mortality. Most work to date has focused on surgeon-oriented outcomes such as patency, but there is increasing interest in patient-oriented outcomes such as mobility and independence.ObjectiveThis study was conducted to determine the effect of infrainguinal lower limb bypass surgery (LLBS) on postoperative mobility in a United Kingdom tertiary vascular surgery unit and to investigate causes and consequences of poor postoperative mobility.MethodsWe collected data on all patients undergoing LLBS for CLI at our institution during a 3-year period and analyzed potential factors that correlated with poor postoperative mobility.ResultsDuring the study period, 93 index LLBS procedures were performed for patients with CLI. Median length of stay was 11 days (interquartile range, 11 days). The 12-month rates of graft patency, major amputation, and mortality were 75%, 9%, and 6%, respectively. Rates of dependence increased fourfold during the first postoperative year, from 5% preoperatively to 21% at 12 months. Predictors of poor postoperative mobility were female sex (P = .04) and poor postoperative mobility (P < .001), initially and at the 12-month follow-up. Patients with poor postoperative mobility had significantly prolonged hospital length of stay (15 vs 8 days; P < .001).ConclusionsPatients undergoing LLBS for CLI suffer significantly impaired postoperative mobility, and this is associated with prolonged hospital stay, irrespective of successful revascularization. Further work is needed to better predict patients who will benefit from revascularization and in whom a nonoperative strategy is optimal

Abstract Background Frailty is a multidimensional vulnerability resulting from age-associated decline. The impact of frailty on outcomes was assessed in a cohort of vascular surgical patients. Methods The study included patients aged over 65 years with length of hospital stay (LOS) greater than 2 days, who were admitted to a tertiary vascular unit over a single calendar year. Demographics, mode of admission, diagnosis, mortality, LOS and discharge destination were recorded, as well as a variety of frailty-specific characteristics. The impact of frailty on LOS, discharge destination, survival and readmission rate was assessed using multivariable regression techniques. The ability of the models to predict these outcomes was also assessed. Results In total, 413 patients of median age 77 years were followed for a median of 18 (range 12–24) months. The in-hospital, 3- and 12-month mortality rates were 3·6, 8·5 and 13·8 per cent respectively. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analysis revealed that frailty-based regression models were excellent predictors of 12-month mortality (area under the ROC curve (AUC) = 0·81), prolonged LOS (AUC = 0·79) and discharge to a care institution (AUC = 0·84). A simple additive frailty score using six key features retained strong predictive power for 12-month mortality (AUC = 0·83), discharge to a care institution (AUC = 0·78) and prolonged LOS (AUC = 0·74). This frailty score was also strongly associated with readmission rates (P < 0·001). Conclusion Frailty in vascular surgery patients predicts a multiplicity of poorer outcomes. Optimal management should include identification of at-risk patients and treatment of modifiable risk factors. </jats:sec

The study aimed to identify the degree of awareness of voluntary social work culture among the students of the Sociology Social work department, through the identifying their awareness of the concept of voluntary work, aspects of voluntary work, positive and negative attitudes towards voluntary work and difficulties prevent their participation in voluntary work In this study, descriptive-analytical method from was used. Intention sample of 297 sociology student used to collect data via questionnaire Social Science Package (SPSS) program was used to analyze data by using percentages, averages, and standard deviations to measure the individual differences in responses. The study results showed that there is general awareness among students regarding the concept of social voluntary work and the majority of the sample believes that volunteer work is useful and does not constitute a burden time from their daily life hours and do not affect their academic achievement. The results also showed no significant differences due to gender Varity in all study pivots except the pivot of difficulties prevent participation in social voluntary work which showed significant differences in favor of females The most important recommendations of the study: Conducting further studies using different and larger samples using different methods in addition to conduct certain mechanisms for motivating participation in social voluntary work by students. Well as increasing university interest in volunteer work through promoting a culture of volunteering by giving each volunteer work equivalent to their skills and abilities

Awareness of Gender Equality during First Wave of Corona Virus: A case study

There has been an increasing concern that the global shutdown period during the spread of the COVID -19 epidemic will widen the gender gap, and that the gains of women before the epidemic will decline. Since COVID-19 crisis affects men and women in different ways, measures to solve it must take into account the gender. This study clarifies the student community’s interest and awareness of gender equality issues during the initial lockdown period by selecting a representative sample of the student community at Ajman University,362 students out of a 6,042 students, the total number of students, according to Yamani mathematical equation n = N / (1 + Ne ^ 2). The information was collected through an online questionnaire, formulated according to systematic procedures on the Likert trio model, and procedures were reviewed and approved by the Universitys Research Ethics Committee (REC). The most important findings of the study are that there is a risk that women and girls face the loss of some of the gains made in recent decades, the worsening of gender inequality during the initial lockdown and the spread of the epidemic, in relation to the growing gender gaps in labor force participation rates, and the authority to make decisions, and the equality in unpaid home care. The time that women devote to unpaid care work may increase with the presence of children in the family, especially with the closure of early childhood education centers, care services and schools, which led to the worsening of care requests during the crisis. Also, this decrease in the gains appears through an increased risk of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). The significant findings shows that gender equality during COVID-19, especially during the lockdown period, is decreasing
