This study aimed to identify the impact of f strategic fit on business continuity management in Jordanian commercial banks with the mediating role of strategic agility, the study used sampling strategy by selecting an appropriate sample from the study population; the descriptive analytical approach was used, through the development of (a questionnaire) as a main tool for data collection. This study was applied to a sample of (254) managers, and multiple regression analysis and simple regression analysis were adopted. The study results indicated that there is a statistically significant impact of strategic fit with its dimensions in business continuity management in its all dimensions collectively in Jordanian commercial banks, the presence of a statistically significant effect of strategic fit in terms of its dimensions collectively in business continuity management in terms of its dimensions collectively through strategic agility as a mediating variable in Jordanian commercial banks, a number of recommendations were formulated to enhance the strategic alignment in the management of business continuity, which will be positively reflected on the strategic agility of Jordanian commercial banks. One of the most important of these is to focus on developing products and services provided to customers on a continuous and participatory basis in line with their changing needs and desires, while reducing costs as much as possible, and in proportion to the internal and external fields through research and development processes

Understanding the Impact of Adopting Intellectual Capital Components on Achieving the Competitive Advantage (Case of Jordanian Insurance Companies)

    Get PDF
In this paper we examine the level and determinants of competitive advantage in Jordanian insurance companies because of its importance in giving a unique position to companies in the market to be superior to its competitors. However, this study concludes that the relationship between intellectual capitals measured by “Structural Capital” has a significant positive influence on competitive advantage. While the other variables “Human capital and structural capital” have no statistical significant impact on competitive advantage. Despite the importance of this study, it holds some limitations. First, the current research may show other relationships among variable at different points of testing. Second, this research was conducted in small country (Jordan) that is considered to be a developing country. The results may not generalize to other developed countries. Third, despite the fact that the current study has sufficient sample size, the appropriate sampling of the research impedes the generalization of findings. The Halal concept has been a major element among consumers living in an Islamic country like Jordan. This study aimed to examine the relationships between the antecedents of consumers’ intention and consumers’ behavior towards Halal Food in Jordan, and the mediating effect of consumers’ intention (INT) in the relationship between perceived behavior control (PBC) and actual consumer behavior (ACT) towards Halal Food. A total of 250 consumers completed a survey that was conducted at middle locations in the capital of Jordan (Amman). The study used the structural equation modeling (SEM) techniques (Amos 20.0) to evaluate the casual model and the confirmatory Factor Analysis (CFA) to examine the reliability and validity of the measurement. Results of the study demonstrated the strong predictive power and explained the consumers’ behavior in Jordan. These result demonstrated the ability of the original Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) model to explain consumer’s behavior towards Halal Food in Jordan. The findings highlighted that the relationship between consumers’ attitude and subjective norm were significant and positive on consumers’ intention, and consumers’ intention on consumers’ behavior was found to be significant with a positive relationship. And one hypothesis resulted in an insignificant relationship namely; perceived behavior control and consumers’ intention. Moreover, intention was found to have no mediating effect. How Does Trade Openness and Economic Growth Affect Gender Gap: A Cross-Country Study

Because Trade Openness, Economic Growth, and Gender Gap have been central to the discussion of development policies in recent decades. This study combined those variables to evaluate the impact of trade openness and economic growth on the gender gap in four selected regions, including 21 countries, using panel data analysis from 1990-2020. Three estimation models such as GMM, FM-OLS, and EGLS, have been used in this study to evaluate the impact between the variables; the findings of the GMM model confirmed a positive effect of trade openness on the gender gap measured by the wage and salaried gap, and a negative impact of economic growth on the gender gap. In contrast, the findings of the FM-OLS model confirmed a positive impact of trade openness on the gender gap measured by the labor gap and the negative impact of economic growth on the gender gap. Finally, the findings of the EGLS model confirmed a negative impact of trade openness on the gender gap measured by the education gap and a positive impact of economic growth on the gender gap. Impact and Recommendations for AHU 2MW PV Plant

    Get PDF
This study examines constructing a photovoltaic solar system station with 2 MW electricity generation capacities; to supply Al-Hussein Bin Talal University’s premises (AHU); which located in the southern part of Jordan. The study examines different proposed design installations and discusses the potential economic impact resulting from this project. Monthly and annual irradiation estimates has been used to calculate approximately the expected energy production in kilowatts hours, other parameters such as size, electric cost, tilt angle, and azimuth angle were also examined. The study is extended to show the economic impact (energy savings, payback period, and return on investment) a solar installation of a 2 MW system size will benefit an institution in the southern region of Jordan (AHU)

Granulomatous Hepatitis Secondary to Histoplasmosis in an Immunocompetent Patient

    Get PDF
Histoplasma capsulatum is the most common endemic mycosis in the United States and usually occurs in certain geographic areas, such as the Mississippi or Ohio River valleys. Histoplasmosis usually causes a mild disease in the immunocompetent but can progress to disseminated disease in patients with impaired immunity. Granulomatous hepatitis as a manifestation of disseminated histoplasmosis in immunocompetent patients is extremely rare. We report the case of a 62-year-old immunocompetent gentleman with a history of histoplasmosis who presented with abdominal pain, elevated liver enzymes, who was diagnosed with granulomatous hepatitis secondary to histoplasmosis

Small Bowel Metastasis as a Presentation of Testicular Seminoma

Testicular germ cell tumors account for 95% of testicular cancers in men with approximately 71,000 patients being diagnosed with testicular cancer every year. The overall survival of testicular germ cell tumors is approximately 95%. However, the prognosis becomes less favorable when distant metastasis is present. Gastrointestinal (GI) tract metastasis occurs in less than 5% of patients with non-seminomatous tumors, and in less than 1% in patients with pure seminomas. GI metastasis usually involves the colon, esophagus, and stomach with the most common symptoms of GI metastasis being diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and obstruction. We discuss the case of a 42-year-old male patient with GI manifestations as the first presentation of testicular seminoma with metastasis to the small bowel. Computed tomography of the abdomen and pelvis revealed a small bowel mass, and the diagnosis was confirmed with histopathologic examination of endoscopic biopsy samples. The patient subsequently underwent chemotherapy treatment with close surveillance. Clinicians should maintain a high index of suspicion in the differential diagnosis of abdominal pain in young male patients, especially when associated with symptoms like unexplained weight loss, constitutional symptoms, and testicular pain or swelling. Metastasis to the GI tract from the testis should be promptly diagnosed and managed, as the overall survival rates can significantly decrease with the delay of diagnosis
