In light of the overwhelming consumption of resources by the manufacturing sector, this paper examined three key subsystems that are critical in greening the sector. Whereas the extant literature has focused on technological development to reduce environmental damage, it has not analyzed profoundly how manufacturing processes can be greened effectively. Hence, using carefully gathered data of 299 respondents and structural equation modeling, this paper sought to investigate the mediating effect of social, environmental, and technical subsystems on the relationship between management support and sustainable manufacturing performance. The results show that management support has a positive relationship with sustainable manufacturing performance (p < 0.005), while social, environmental, and technical subsystems partially mediate this relationship. Hence, efforts must be taken to encourage management of manufacturing firms to support sustainable management performance, while at the same time supporting them to introduce innovative social, environmental, and technical practices

The role of cognitive absorption in predicting mobile internet users continuance intention: an extension of the expectation-confirmation model

    No full text
This study uses the expectation-confirmation model (ECM) to investigate how individuals' cognitive absorption (CA) influences their continued use of mobile Internet services. Data were collected from 946 mobile Internet users. Structural equation modelling was employed to analyse the proposed model and examine the relationships between its constructs. Overall, the model accounted for 55% of the variance in mobile Internet users’ continuance intentions—an element substantially impacted by such factors as perceived usefulness, satisfaction, and CA. Of the factors, CA was found to be the most robust predictor of continuance intention. Alongside confirmation, CA also strongly influenced satisfaction. The findings of this study provide mobile network operators with insights into which determinants will inform retention policies and encourage existing users to continue using the service

    No full text
For countries and organizations to achieve sustainable development, radical green creativity is required. Despite the fact that the influencing elements of green creativity have received a lot of attention, there is little research on the antecedents of green creativity. The current study attempted to fill the gap by exploring the underlying mechanism of green thinking and green organizational identity as mediators. This study aimed to examine the impact of green transformational leadership on green creativity through mediators, such as green thinking and creative organizational identity in SMEs. We gathered data from 460 respondents from SMEs operating in Pakistan using a survey questionnaire. The findings revealed that green transformational leadership had a significant impact on green organizational identity, which cultivated green creativity in SMEs. Additionally, results portrayed that green organizational identity performed mediation in the relationship between green transformational leadership and green creativity. Moreover, green thinking mediates the association between green transformational leadership and green creativity. This study offers novel insights into how to stimulate green transformational leadership and cognitive processes in SMEs to encourage green creativity. The implications for management and practitioners are discussed in light of the study's findings

    No full text
This paper investigates the impact of openness to experience (OE) on the two distinct dimensions of creativity; radical creativity (RC) and incremental creativity, with promotion focus (PF) as regulatory factor and as the mediating mechanism. Drawing on the recent re-conceptualization of creativity as a multi-dimensional phenomenon; the current study attempts to explain the relationship of OE and PF with two dimensions of creativity. Sample is drawn from employees of advertising agencies working in creative departments. A three wave time lagged survey of 293 creative employees of advertising agencies in Karachi, Pakistan was conducted. SPSS Process Macro and AMOS software were used to analyze the data. OE was found to have an impact on both dimensions of creativity, but mediation effects of PF were confirmed between OE and RC only. The findings may assist the managers to better plan, hire and manage their creative workforce according to the jobs that require different forms of creativity. Future directions and limitations are discussed following the findings

Perceived corporate social responsibility and pro-environmental behaviors: The role of organizational identification and coworker pro-environmental advocacy

    No full text
Despite research suggesting that pro-environmental behaviors offer a range of positive benefits for organizations and that corporate social responsibility (CSR) positively affects employee behaviors and attitudes, very few studies have investigated how CSR affects pro-environmental behaviours. As such, this study investigates the impact of perceived CSR on employees' pro-environmental behaviours through organizational identification and coworkers' pro-environmental advocacy. Using a multistage sampling technique, a survey of line managers was conducted across 32 hotels in the understudied context of Malaysia's hotel industry. Based on 331 completed questionnaires, the results suggest that perceived CSR activities drive organizational identification and trigger coworkers’ pro-environmental advocacy, which in turn generate employees’ pro-environmental behaviours. The study offers valuable insights into the complex relationship between perceived CSR and pro-environmental behaviors and discusses the theoretical and research contributions and managerial implications.</p
