2,000 Families: identifying the research potential of an origins-of-migration study
Despite recent advances, critical areas in the analysis of European migration remain underdeveloped. We have only a limited understanding of the consequences of migration for migrants and their descendants, relative to staying behind; and our insights of intergenerational transmission is limited to two generations of those living in the destination countries. These limitations stem from a paucity of studies that incorporate comparison with non-migrants – and return migrants – in countries of origin and which trace processes of intergenerational transmission over multiple generations. This paper outlines the theoretical and methodological discussions in the field, design and data of the 2,000 Families study. The study comprises almost 50,000 members of migrant and non-migrant Turkish families across three family generations, living in Turkey and eight European countries. We provide indicative findings from the study, framed within a theoretical perspective of “dissimilation” from origins, and reflect on its potential for future migration research
The Moderating Role of Job Resourcefulness in the Impact of Work–Family and Family–Work Life Conflict on the Burnout Levels of Travel Agency Employees
The aim of this study is to determine the moderating role of job resourcefulness under the influence of work–family and family–work life conflict on the burnout levels of employees. In this con-text, a questionnaire was created using the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI), Work–Family Life Conflict, and Job Resourcefulness Scale. This survey was applied to travel agency employees in Izmir, Turkey, who were selected by using deliberate sampling method. At the end of the data collection period, 220 valid questionnaires were obtained. A hierarchical regression analysis was conducted to test the hypotheses based on the reliability and validity of the scales. Analysis results indicate that resourcefulness reduces detrimental effects of work-family conflict on emotional exhaustion and depersonalization. In addition results also indicate that job resourcefulness reduces detrimental effects of family-work conflict on depersonalization. The implications of these results for future research are also discussed
Ideal test for android testing: Preliminary work [Android uygulaması testi için ideal test ön çalışması]
12th Turkish National Software Engineering Symposium, UYMS 2018 -- 10 September 2018 through 12 September 2018 -- 139255This paper proposes a hybrid method combining well-known holistic test and mutation testing in software testing for Graphical User Interface (GUI) testing of an android application. Moreover, this hybrid method satisfies requirements of ideal testing that is well known and important in software testing. Presence and absence of GUI based faults are tested within this work experimentally and comparatively in the scale of given or constructed model. First step of the method is modeling the given GUI of android application by Finite State Machine (FSM) and then converting this FSM to Regular Expression (RE). Then, test sequences are generated from a context table that is obtained analysis of the RE model. This process defines first part of the Holistic Testing namely positive testing. In second part called negative testing, the test sequence generation procedure is applied mutants of the FSM obtained after applying selected mutation operators. The generated test sequences from original and mutant models are executed on mutant and original android applications respectively. Test sequences are filtered by using pre-defined selection criteria for both positive and negative testing to achieve ideal test suites that are satisfying requirements of the ideal testing
