    Human Capital has received major attention in present era research. Talent can be any individual who is committed, motivated and performs effectively. The successful utilization of individual capabilities can contribute positively to performance and enhance organizational image. It is very challenging to retain talent with in organization and keep them motivated. Most importantly they are one of the sources of competitive advantage. Talent drain and executive theft is the major challenge faced by the HR managers throughout the corporate world. Therefore it is important to retain them by keeping them motivated and committed to the organization. This research studies the effect of commitment and motivation on individual and how that contributes towards organizational performance. If employees perceive that their efforts are recognized by the organization they feel motivated and level of commitment will rise. Paper is based on conceptual study.     How the Students’ Competitive and Collaborative Styles of Learning are Affected by Personality Traits at the University Level

    Investigating how personality traits affect competitive and collaborative learning is the goal of the current study. When examining the influence of personality traits on learning styles, Big Five Theory was employed. Two hundred students were casually picked using the non-probability selection approach for this descriptive study design. After translation into the native language, a large-scale portfolio and the Grasha-Riechmann Scales of Student Learning Skills were utilized. Cronbach's alpha provided proficient estimation, pilot testing, and consistency, which all confirmed the instrument’s validity (α = 0.94). Five elements correlated with students' learning styles, including their personality traits. Students may benefit from a teaching approach that considers their unique characteristics and learning styles. Social training, academic achievement, and collaborative chances influenced personality traits and learning

    The Dynamic Relation between Technology Adoption, Technology Innovation, Human Capital and Economy: Comparison of Lower-Middle-Income Countries

    The advent of technologies has stimulated the economic growth of western countries, however, some Asian and African countries are among the Lower Middle Income Countries due to lack of technology adoption and digitally skilled human capital. The use of technologies produces digital competent human capital stock that accelerates economic growth. The prime goal of this article is to explore dynamics of technology adoption, technology innovation, human capital and skill development for Lower Middle Income Countries region over the period 2000-2016 by Generalised Method of Moments and cross sectional dependence. New technology adoption, technology innovation and human capital & skill development indices are formulated. The empirical findings indicate that human capital development & skill and investment have positive linkage with Lower Middle Income Countries economic growth while technology adoption and innovation have different linkage across the Lower Middle Income Countries regions. The panel error correction method was applied to estimate short run dynamics and convergence rate. The fully modified ordinary least square was applied to authenticate whether the long run estimates are consistent and valid for policy implications. The findings propose policy implications for advance technology adoption and innovation with the focus on human capital development & skill and investment in Lower Middle Income Countries region

    En bloc resection of a giant retroperitoneal liposarcoma: A surgical challenge

    Liposarcomas are exceedingly rare entities that evoke malignant transformation of connective tissue and fat cells.These tumours occur throughout the soft tissues of the body, afflicting a myriad of regions. In the adult population, liposarcomas represent the most prevalent subtype of sarcomas, and often arise de novo. Retroperitoneal liposarcomas (RLS) are a ubiquitous subset of sarcomas that, due to their deep location in the hollow abdomen, can grow to astronomical proportions before manifesting any noticeable symptoms; a prompt diagnosis of RLS is therefore often rendered dilatory. We hereby delineate the case of a 43-year-old woman who presented with vague left hemiabdominal distention and discomfort. A subsequent computed tomography scan divulged a giant retroperitoneal growth impaling on and thus displacing the pancreas. A compartmental, en bloc resection was performed, with subsequent histopathology of the excised specimen revealing a well-differentiated liposarcoma. The surgical intervention was curative and led to an uneventful recovery. This paper highlights the pertinence of surgical management as an appropriate treatment modality for a complete resection of RLS

    The Apolipoprotein E Polymorphism And Dyslipidemia In Elderly Patients Of Calcific Aortic Stenosis: A Case Control study

    Objective: This study aimed to investigate the impact of the Apo E polymorphisms on plasma lipid profile and to identify the polymorphism of the apo-E gene as genetic predictor of calcific AS in Pakistani population.   Methodology: This was a case control study conducted in Dow University of Health Sciences and National Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, Karachi. It included total of 100 individuals, 50 echocardiographically identified calcific AS cases and 50 age and gender matched controls. Apo E allele frequencies were computed, lipid profiles were estimated and Apo E gene polymorphism was identified by the techniques of polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP).   Result: Apo E 2, 3, and 4 allele frequencies were 16%, 52%, and 32% in calcific AS cases, and 10%, 52%, 28% in controls respectively (p=0.622). Out of 50 cases, 18% presented with mild AS, 22% moderate AS and 60% lied in severe calcific AS. It was observed that levels of total cholesterol (TC), triglyceride (TG) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL) were higher in Apo E4 allele as compared to other genes in both cases and control.   Conclusion: The findings of this study suggested that Apo E4 allele of Apo E gene is an impotent risk factors for dyslipidemia while Apo E4 allele is not associated with calcific AS contemplates distinctive genetic backgrounds of CAD and AS

    Welfare of Pet Birds and Potential Zoonoses

    The human-animal interaction had long been established and currently emerged in multiple aspects including housing of animals for food and as pets. The “pet birds” are the wild or exotic birds having high genetic value and are housed under captivity as companions or for ornamental purposes. The commonly housed pet birds are either passeriformes or psittaciformes. These birds are housed under conditions to meet standard requirements for welfare of pet birds. Besides the pet birds and human relationship, these birds are potential carriers or transmitters of several pathogens considered responsible for zoonotic diseases. The range of the zoonotic diseases consisted of bacterial, viral, parasitic and fungal diseases. The mode of transmission is also an important entity for understanding the spread mechanism of zoonotic diseases. The transmission and spread is predominantly through the direct contact and in the few conditions through the vectors; termed as vector-borne transmission. Altogether, in this chapter, the authors have discussed different aspects of welfare of pet birds, categories of zoonotic diseases along with mode of transmission and spread of zoonoses. At the last, few aspects of welfare of pet birds and prevention and control guidelines of zoonoses are suggested for the personal biosafety and public health

    Relationship between customer satisfaction and service quality of islamic banks

    This study highlights the level of customer awareness about Islamic banks and determines the relationship between service quality and customer satisfaction with respect to Islamic banks. The survey based approach is used to collect the necessary data. 167 questionnaires were processed for the study. SPSS was used to analyze the data and the model was tested through AMOS. The study finds that there is a positive and significant relationship between customer satisfaction and constructs of service quality like compliance, assurance, empathy and representativeness. This study further concludes that compliance and representativeness influence more on customer satisfaction in Pakistani Islamic banks

    Firm performance, corporate governance and executive compensation in Pakistan

    yesThis study examines the effects of firm performance and corporate governance on chief executive officer (CEO) compensation in an emerging market, Pakistan. Using a more robust Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) estimation approach for a sample of non-financial firms listed at Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) over the period 2005 to 2012, we find that both current and previous year accounting performance has positive influence on CEO compensation. However, stock market performance does not appear to have a positive impact on executive compensation. We further find that ownership concentration is positively related with CEO compensation, indicating some kind of collusion between management and largest shareholder to get personal benefits. Inconsistent with agency theory, CEO duality appears to have a negative influence, while board size and board independence have no convincing relationship with CEO compensation, indicating board ineffectiveness in reducing CEO entrenchment. The results of dynamic GMM model suggest that CEO pay is highly persistent and takes time to adjust to long-run equilibrium
