Conformal Prediction Bands for Two-Dimensional Functional Time Series

Time evolving surfaces can be modeled as two-dimensional Functional time series, exploiting the tools of Functional data analysis. Leveraging this approach, a forecasting framework for such complex data is developed. The main focus revolves around Conformal Prediction, a versatile nonparametric paradigm used to quantify uncertainty in prediction problems. Building upon recent variations of Conformal Prediction for Functional time series, a probabilistic forecasting scheme for two-dimensional functional time series is presented, while providing an extension of Functional Autoregressive Processes of order one to this setting. Estimation techniques for the latter process are introduced and their performance are compared in terms of the resulting prediction regions. Finally, the proposed forecasting procedure and the uncertainty quantification technique are applied to a real dataset, collecting daily observations of Sea Level Anomalies of the Black Se

Synthesis methods of fluorinated polyurethanes. 1. Effects on the thermal and dynamic-mechanical behaviours

    No full text
Fluorinated polyurethanes (FPUs) were synthesised from 4,4\u2032-methylenebis(phenylisocyanate) (MDI), 1,4-butandiol (BDO), as a chain-extender, and soft perfluoropolyetheric block (ZDOLTX), by a two-step polymerisation technique, following specific procedures to obtain chains with a regular-segmented structure or polymers characterised by having high hard (MDI\u2013BDO) segment polydispersity. Calorimetric and dynamic mechanical data, reported in this first part of our work, show that, independently of the synthesis method, the polymers are always characterised by a heterogeneous structure. This is true not only at molecular level but also at a macroscopic scale, in which the continuous soft phase contains different populations of crystalline hard domains. However, the crystallinity degree decreases on increasing the weight fraction of the soft phase. The so-called \u2018regular synthesis\u2019 seems to favour the MDI\u2013BDO\u2013MDI sequence, which is the largest constitutive part of the hard phase, but the macrostructure is less regular than that present in the other FPUs

Lamellar Morphology by Small-Angle X-ray Scattering Measurements in Some Perfluorinated Copolymers of Tetrafluoroethylene

    No full text
Some samples of tetrafluoroethylene copolymers, containing perfluoropropyl vinyl ether, perfluoromethyl vinyl ether, and hexafluoropropene, were studied by small-angle X-ray scattering in order to investigate the correlation among the crystalline lamellar thickness and both the comonomer content and the molecular weight. The lamellar thickness was determined from the identity period of the one-dimensional scattering function and from the analysis of the one-dimensional correlation function. The crystallinity and the volume of the crystalline unit cell were determined by wide-angle X-ray scattering. Some considerations are reported on the partial inclusion in the crystall cell of the 12CF3 groups and on the expulsion into the amorphous regions of the 12O(CF2)2CF3 groups
