Optics Flexibility in the LHC at Top Energy
Flexibility of the LHC optics at top energy has been studied, in terms of betatron tune tunability, mainly for the high-beta optics that requires tunability of the order of half a unit. It has been shown that the tunability at top energy is good enough for the high-beta optics. The results obtained in this study could be useful for other optics and operation modes
Optics studies based on V6.503 nominal configuration
Optics studies based on the V6.503 nominal optics have been performed, aiming at improving the collimation efficiency by adjusting the phase advance from IP1 to IP5 to be π/2 off a multiple of 2π such that the off-momentum beta-beating is localized to the left side of the LHC ring. The off-momentum beta-beating in IR7 (betatron collimation section) is suppressed as expected. In addition to this main point, IR2 and IR8 injection optics are studied to improve the apertures of the inner triplet magnets. ABSTRACT INCOME ANALYSIS OF SMALLHOLDER FARMERS FOR BEEF CATTLE IN SOUTH WEDA DISTRICT OF CENTRAL HALMAHERA REGENCY. Objective of this study was to evaluate the income and factors affecting income of smallholder farmer of beef cattle on the high land and low land at South Weda district of Central Halmahera regency. Samples of these smallholder farmers were defined by purposive method based on high population of beef cattle. Quantitative data were analyzed by multiple regression model. Results showed that the average production costs were IDR 37,310,606.00 on high land location and IDR 25,597,372.00 on low land location. The average output of smallholder farmers from beef cattle were IDR 56,397,059.00 on high land location and IDR 38,475,000.00 on low land location. Therefore, their incomes were IDR 19,086,453.00/year on high land location and IDR 12,877,628.00/year on low land location. Result of multiple regression analysis showed that beef cattle stock variable (animal value at end of year) affected on the smallholder farmer income of beef cattle, while education and age of smallholders did not affect on their income at South Weda district of Central Halmahera regency. Expression, but lack of calcium mobilization by high-affinity IgE Fcε receptor I on human epidermal and dermal Langerhans cells
: In atopic dermatitis (AD) patients, IgE molecules are demonstrated on the surface of Langerhans cells (LC). FcεRI molecules, which are present on the surface of LC in AD patients as well as normal individuals, are responsible for this binding. In this study, we have investigated phenotypic and functional characteristics of FcεRI on epidermal and dermal cell populations. Epidermal and dermal cell suspensions were prepared enzymatically with dispase followed by either trypsin or collagenase treatment, respectively. Peripheral blood basophils were negatively selected by excluding other leukocytes with surface marker staining. Consistent with previous reports, both peripheral blood basophils and epidermal LC were positively stained with anti FcεRI monoclonal antibody. In addition, an FcεRI positive population was demon-strated among dermal HLA-DR positive cells. These cells express significant amounts of HLA-DR molecules (DR Hi ) and co-express CD la molecules, which identifies them as LC-like dendritie APC of the dermis. No other FcεRI positive population was found in the other dermal DR Mid or DR populations, except for a minor DR lo population, presumably mast cells. To analyze whether these FcεRI molecules are signal transducing for LC, intracellular calcium mobilization after crosslinking of FcεRI was measured with How cytometry. Following crosslinking, peripheral blood basophils clearly increased intracellular calcium. On the other hand, neither normal epidermal LC nor dermal DR Hi CD Ia + cells changed their intracellular calcium level after FcεRI crosslinking. Scaling Analysis of Fluctuating Strength Function
We propose a new method to analyze fluctuations in the strength function
phenomena in highly excited nuclei. Extending the method of multifractal
analysis to the cases where the strength fluctuations do not obey power scaling
laws, we introduce a new measure of fluctuation, called the local scaling
dimension, which characterizes scaling behavior of the strength fluctuation as
a function of energy bin width subdividing the strength function. We discuss
properties of the new measure by applying it to a model system which simulates
the doorway damping mechanism of giant resonances. It is found that the local
scaling dimension characterizes well fluctuations and their energy scales of
fine structures in the strength function associated with the damped collective

Analysis of ELM stability with extended MHD models in JET, JT-60U and future JT-60SA tokamak plasmas
The stability with respect to a peeling–ballooning mode (PBM) was investigated numerically with
extended MHD simulation codes in JET, JT-60U and future JT-60SA plasmas. The MINERVA-DI
code was used to analyze the linear stability, including the effects of rotation and ion diamagnetic drift
( *w i), in JET-ILW and JT-60SA plasmas, and the JOREK code was used to simulate nonlinear
dynamics with rotation, viscosity and resistivity in JT-60U plasmas. It was validated quantitatively
that the ELM trigger condition in JET-ILW plasmas can be reasonably explained by taking into
account both the rotation and *w i effects in the numerical analysis. When deuterium poloidal rotation
is evaluated based on neoclassical theory, an increase in the effective charge of plasma destabilizes
the PBM because of an acceleration of rotation and a decrease in *w i. The difference in the amount of
ELM energy loss in JT-60U plasmas rotating in opposite directions was reproduced qualitatively with
JOREK. By comparing the ELM affected areas with linear eigenfunctions, it was confirmed that the
difference in the linear stability property, due not to the rotation direction but to the plasma density
profile, is thought to be responsible for changing the ELM energy loss just after the ELM crash. A
predictive study to determine the pedestal profiles in JT-60SA was performed by updating the EPED1 model to include the rotation and *w i effects in the PBM stability analysis. It was shown that the plasma rotation predicted with the neoclassical toroidal viscosity degrades the pedestal performance by about 10% by destabilizing the PBM, but the pressure pedestal height will be high enough to achieve the target parameters required for the ITER-like shape inductive scenario in JT-60SA.JSPS KAKENHI 15K06656EURATOM 63305
Design of beam optics for the Future Circular Collider e+e- -collider rings
A beam optics scheme has been designed for the Future Circular Collider-e+e-
(FCC-ee). The main characteristics of the design are: beam energy 45 to 175
GeV, 100 km circumference with two interaction points (IPs) per ring,
horizontal crossing angle of 30 mrad at the IP and the crab-waist scheme [1]
with local chromaticity correction. The crab-waist scheme is implemented within
the local chromaticity correction system without additional sextupoles, by
reducing the strength of one of the two sextupoles for vertical chromatic
correction at each side of the IP. So-called "tapering" of the magnets is
applied, which scales all fields of the magnets according to the local beam
energy to compensate for the effect of synchrotron radiation (SR) loss along
the ring. An asymmetric layout near the interaction region reduces the critical
energy of SR photons on the incoming side of the IP to values below 100 keV,
while matching the geometry to the beam line of the FCC proton collider
(FCC-hh) [2] as closely as possible. Sufficient transverse/longitudinal dynamic
aperture (DA) has been obtained, including major dynamical effects, to assure
an adequate beam lifetime in the presence of beamstrahlung and top-up
injection. In particular, a momentum acceptance larger than +/-2% has been
obtained, which is better than the momentum acceptance of typical collider
rings by about a factor of 2. The effects of the detector solenoids including
their compensation elements are taken into account as well as synchrotron
radiation in all magnets. The optics presented in this paper is a step toward a
full conceptual design for the collider. A number of issues have been
identified for further study
New features on the expression and trafficking of mglur1 splice variants exposed by two novel mutant mouse lines
Metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) couple to G-proteins to modulate slow synaptic transmission via intracellular second messengers. The first cloned mGluR, mGluR1, regulates motor coordination, synaptic plasticity and synapse elimination. mGluR1 undergoes alternative splicing giving rise to four translated variants that differ in their intracellular C-terminal domains. Our current knowledge about mGluR1 relates almost entirely to the long mGluR1α isoform, whereas little is known about the other shorter variants. To study the expression of mGluR1γ, we have generated by means of the CRISPR/Cas9 system a new knock-in (KI) mouse line in which the C-terminus of this variant carries two short tags. Using this mouse line, we could establish that mGluR1γ is either untranslated or in amounts that are undetectable in the mouse cerebellum, indicating that only mGluR1α and mGluR1β are present and active at cerebellar synapses. The trafficking and function of mGluR1 appear strongly influenced by adaptor proteins such as long Homers that bind to the C-terminus of mGluR1α. We generated a second transgenic (Tg) mouse line in which mGluR1α carries a point mutation in its Homer binding domain and studied whether disruption of this interaction influenced mGluR1 subcellular localization at cerebellar parallel fiber (PF)-Purkinje cell (PC) synapses by means of the freeze-fracture replica immunolabeling technique. These Tg animals did not show any overt behavioral phenotype, and despite the typical mGluR1 perisynaptic distribution was not significantly changed, we observed a higher probability of intrasynaptic diffusion suggesting that long Homers regulate the lateral mobility of mGluR1. We extended our ultrastructural analysis to other mouse lines in which only one mGluR1 variant was reintroduced in PC of mGluR1-knock out (KO) mice. This work revealed that mGluR1α preferentially accumulates closer to the edge of the postsynaptic density (PSD), whereas mGluR1β has a less pronounced perijunctional distribution and, in the absence of mGluR1α, its trafficking to the plasma membrane is impaired with an accumulation in intracellular organelles. In conclusion, our study sets several firm points on largely disputed matters, namely expression of mGluR1γ and role of the C-terminal domain of mGluR1 splice variants on their perisynaptic clustering
